when I bought my place, I called about a propane fill. Weeks went by, I filled out the online paperwork twice, and then my tank ran out. it was 55 degrees in my house. they finally came and filled it. prices are very high compared to other companies so I decided to switch companies. You CANNOT get ahold of a person, so I wrote emails and basically they told me they couldn't help over email. when I finally got a person, they said 4-6 weeks for picking up my tank and the tank sat on my property for about 5 months. I was only able to communicate through their Facebook messenger. Terrible customer service, terrible online service, terrible prices. Basically not a good company for propane services. I would give a -5 stars if I could. Purchased a place at Sandy Pines and I have been simply trying to put the account in my name for OVER 4 months which is something one representative admitted that they do everyday. First round of calls I was finally told by "Andre" (sp?) that I have to buy the actual tank. They later withdrew that demand but still no name change on the account and no propane delivery. Next round of calls and I was assured the account was in my name and could order when needed. Not true. More calls and still no propane. Last set of calls resulted in Andre showing up again, wanting me to sign a 3 year contract which NO ONE had previously mentioned!!?!?! Seriously? You can't make this up! Avoid the hassle and go elsewhere. read more

Switched tanks to a company called excel. Took hopkins tank out and called them twice to come get there tank it was in our yard 5 months before they came to get it. Then charged us 150 bucks to retrieve there tank. When excel took the tank out it had 10% left in the tank. Hopkins propane said it had none. Avoid this company. read more

After 30 years of service, this January we ran out of propane because they would not fill it. We always call at 20% with the understanding it could take 2 weeks (which is what they told us to do). After 2 weeks we were pretty low. Called multiple times to be told they had no idea when we would get filled and it could take 14 days. We were down to 2% in the middle of January. We finally got it filled. We paid the balance but switched companies. Now we are waiting a month and a half for the refund check. Called two weeks ago and was told they are working on it. Called today and was told it could take another 2-4 weeks because they haven't even emptied the tank! On top of that we got a bill for not using over 600 gallons a year! Propane is expensive and we like to save our money by doing efficient things to our house. If you are looking to go with them, I wouldn't. I drive by it everyday and I see them unload tanks, everyday. Everyone is leaving them. I also called the BBB on them and the BBB couldn't even get ahold of them which left a big ding on their BBB. This company, when it was just Hopkins, was amazing! They were involved in the community and they would fill up quickly. I will have to say the ladies on the phone are really nice. I give them a lot of credit because I know the whole community is feed up with them. read more

When they were Hopkins they were a good company. Now that Superior Plus owns them they are nothing less than terrible. Just like when any small company gets bought by the national it went from personal customer service to a giant money grab. We accidentally let our tank go empty last fall and got TOTALLY SOAKED for over $500 to have it 'inspected' and refilled. I just changed to a new company today and sat for 45 minutes on hold with thei​r call center to close my account and set up the tank pick up only to find out that their greedy butts are going to charge $150, to get THEIR tank! Basically what the annual tank rental fee is! Guess they will put the screws to you no matter what! That and they said they will pick up the tank "when they could get to it, based on ground conditions" I JUST had a new tank delivered, no issues! That and the tank is currently sitting in my driveway! Not more solid ground than that! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Steer clear... Avoid at all costs. read more

Worst customer service ever! Last winter they let our tank run out, then took forever to get out and fill it. We had to stay in a motel a couple of nights because it was freezing. We told them then to take us off auto fill so we could let the tank run out and switch companies. Just last week we were down to 30%, and one day they show up out of the blue and fill the tank. Didn't even leave a receipt or invoice on the door, just sent an invoice via email. Now we have a full tank to use up before we can switch companies. They are constantly charging little fees for stupid things. Extra charge if you use less than 600 gallons. Extra charge for price protection. What is that? They have the highest prices around! What are they protecting me from?? You call and can never talk to a manager, they always promise someone will call you, no one ever does. Do not use this company if you value your sanity. They are literally holding us hostage right now and there is nothing we can do about it. The delivery drivers have always been very nice, though. They're the ONLY reason I'm giving them one star. read more

Been with them for years, they sent bill with no explanation this fall for 79$, lady at customer service was appalled that we were upset that they charged us this. She explained it's for "tank rental" because we went below 500 gal last year. If you bill someone without explanation, you should expect customers be upset....the chargers was removed but the goodwill is lost... read more

Absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with!!! We have called numerous times since our tank was at 25%. We are now at 3%!!!! What is wrong with Superior?!?!?! Weve been going to hopkins propane for years-always supported them bc they were fair and locally owned. Now they are owned by a new company and instead of coming out when your percent is low they charge an emergency fee of $150 if you need it before ten days. Never had this before. Also, have only had it one other time in 8 years where we forgot to call before 20%. New owners are losing another loyal customer. read more

After nearly 26 years with Hopkins Propane we are sad to be leaving the "new" Superior Propane. I have never received a tank rental fee. Got sent a text, no phone call, no invoice being sent, stating I owe them $79. WHY??? I had to call them to find out. Their answer was because I used 591.8 gallons over the last year and anything less than 600 gallons is charged a tank rental fee. Well, I prepaid for my propane and I am on auto fill. Lady was rude when I called to ask why I received that text and said she would waive the fee this time. 10 days later I receive a bill in the mail. I called back to ask why, she said she didn't know because the account showed a zero dollar balance. I told her it is their responsibility to make sure their customers don't get that charge and they should come out as a courtesy to get every one on the keep fill program over the 600 gallons. I am now searching for a new propane company that will have better communication and customer service. read more

Tried to get ahold of them half a dozen times from early Sep to late Nov for a tank refill. Multiple calls, voicemails left, and online request forms submitted from their website, all attempts remain un-responded to. Tank almost empty now. Does anyone know if they went out of business or something?? I'm hoping that's what happened and their service really isn't this bad considering they sell a utility peoples lives depend on. Hopkins Propane has a long way to go to be a top rated provider. I've been waiting for over a month for them to pick up their unused tank after I switched to a much better and cheaper company. Several phone calls to their office has gotten absolutely no results. Use this company only as a last resort. If there was an option for 0 or negative stars, they would get those. read more

We brought a 30 pound tank off of our RV to have it filled here. They were friendly, helpful, and had the tank filled and ready to go in less than 10 minutes. At $22 for a fill, I also really appreciate the value. I would absolutely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone I know. read more

So I was called to get my propane tank switched out, which would be free of charge other than the fact that I'd be paying for the initial 5% of gas that is already in the new tank. I took a before and after picture of my old and new tanks, and it appears I was cheated out of 10%. I didn't call about it but then I heard a coworker of mine dealt with a whole array of issues when they got their tank swapped. I wish I had called about my issue now knowing someone else had issues. I'm hoping that something like this doesn't happen again, otherwise I will look for a new provider. read more

This company left us without propane for an entire weekend due to their lack of organization and account management. We have been at this address for four months and made repeated calls about our account being inaccurate and our bill going to the wrong address. They keep telling me I'm not the person on the account but they let me pay my bill with no issues. Of course I had to call them to pay my bill because they kept sending it to my neighbors house. read more
