Whenever I come down to this area I am always looking for something sweat and delicious from one of the local bakeries. I happened to come across this place and I was happy I did. My daughter got the macarons and I got a lemon cookie and a peppermint chocolate cake. My daughter said the macarons were delicious and my cookie and cake were good. The lemon cookie was not particularly lemony or sweet but had a sugary topping that helped out with the flavor. The peppermint cake had just the right amount of peppermint but the chocolate part seemed a little dry but not enough to ruin the chocolatey goodness. They also make homemade bread which looked delicious. All in all the place holds a certain charm and everyone was nice and pleasant and very helpful behind the counter. Very cute bakery. We stumbled by it and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and the friendly gentleman by the counter. I got macarons, lemon cupcake and a lemon square cookie. My friend got the Pike peak brownie, the love at first bite chocolate cupcake and the carrot cake. Everything I've had so far is delicious!! Even the lavender macaron was really really good. The lemon cookie wasn't too sweet or very lemony but had the right amount of tart. I would definitely get more of the macarons and that cookie. The lemon cupcake was not as loved as the other two. The center of the cupcake had a big splash of lemony goodness but it tasted artificial. The whipped cream was a little too much for me. I think I would eat this cupcake without the cream topping. The cupcake itself could also do with more lemon than it had. My friend loved her brownie and carrot cake but did not like the chocolate brownie. This rating is based on what I ordered. Although I could see no reference to ice cream in the bakery, I asked whether they had ice cream. The young lady behind the counter rather apologetically said that they only had lavender, chocolate, and pistachio. When she told me that they were made in-house, I knew that I could do with any one of the three. I ordered pistachio. The young lady asked whether I wanted a waffle cone or a cup. I opted for a cup. The price was under $4. All seemed good--until I was presented with the cup. The ice cream was not frozen. It was not soft; it was soupy. It never would have worked in a cone of any type. Why hadn't I been warned? Why had pistachio even been offered? I took a few spoonfuls at the counter before throwing away the rest. Even knowing that I had found it inedible, I was not offered a scoop of one of the other flavors. I was offered the explanation that they had just made the pistachio ice cream, but they clearly had not churned it long enough at a cold enough temperature. Poor product. Poor service. I went down on Valentines Day with the anticipation of purchasing a dozen of their delicious cookies but was horribly disappointed because since the new owners took over, the cookies are definitely not the same. I ordered an assortment of cookies for my mom. I didn't get to try them, but my mom said the were wonderful! She loved them and so did the staff at the care facility where she lives. The staff was very helpful, everything went well with ordering and delivery. My small gripe - delivery fee was $20. $20 is a bit steep to deliver a box of cookies 4.4 miles. First time in Pueblo. WOW! What a find. I'm from Jersey where bakeries are like pizzerias . One on every corner and one better then the other. I saw the reviews and was thinking, " could this place be that good in Pueblo"? I was not dissapointed. The scones were the best I've had and the coffee much better then most. High quality food and service. The friendly staff always seem really happy to see you and make you feel part of a wonderful community. My favorite things are the daily scones (very flaky, moist and good...the chocolate orange is the best) and the little chocolate cake thing. Not sure what it is called but it is amazing. Like cake, pudding, and mouse all in one. Oh, and the homemade ice cream...try that too. Most people go here for the baked goods..obviously, but I think they also may have the healthiest lunch available in Pueblo. There are two options I rely on weekly. The Steel City Salad (greens, veggies, and you can add egg, meat, avocado, etc) and their protein plate. I am addicted to Mary's cookies! Her sugar cookies are buttery and light, perfect example of a good sugar cookie. Make your way down during the Chili festival and have some of her Chili Sugar cookies. The spice is so subtle and blends well with the butter and sugar, well worth the trip. I also had her Lavender ice cream in a waffle cone which was awesome. You can taste the cream and eggs and the lavender is unexpected, but a perfect compliment. Being a Colorado native, I've been to and through Pueblo countless times. However, after our last trip and seeing the life coming back into downtown, we will making it a destination a lot more now! One of the reasons is Hopscotch Bakery!! First things first...it is a darling shop! It was like a ray of sweetened sunshine. The staff was so incredibly warm and friendly. It is a jewel placed perfectly in the crown of that revitalized and beautiful community. Now...the food. Oh. My. Goodness! From melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies of several varieties to individual cakes that are stars of the show. We took two back to my folks in the San Luis Valley and they raved about those cakes again and again. :) We cannot wait to go back and will definitely bring back more treats this time! We recently ordered lunch for our office and we were very disappointed in the size of the sandwich. $12 for a small sandwich with just the meat and cheese, no condiments at all. We ordered a $55 daddy-o cake and were appalled that the cake was previously frozen and very dry. The cake was described as vanilla bean pound cake but was just a regular cake sliced thin, raspberry preserve that was quite tart and with white chocolate butter cream that tasted like wax. I REALLY, REALLY like Hop Scotch Bakery. They are a cute small town bakery with many options to choose from....brownies, cookies, ice cream, sandwiches. We popped in only for treats after a visit to the Children's Museum. I got their St. Patrick's brownie that had a super mild minty flavor...would have preferred a little stronger. My daughter's got vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet. They made short work of their treats. They also offered lemon curd, which I purchased to take home to my husband. Totally disappointed. Had not been here for some years now but used to frequent when I lived in Pueblo. Purchased a few items, none worth bragging about. I gave two stars because Mary has always been so friendly. I purchased the orange monster based on the review I read in yelp. One because this item was new to me, never tried it. Two because I love orange sweet rolls. The orange monster looked very pretty but tasted like chemicals...gross like orange soap/perfume like taste. One cost about $2.78. I could have bought a can of Pillsbury orange cinnamon rolls and had 8 of them for around the same price point. Pillsbury tastes good. The shortbread cookies I purchased were dusted mych too heavy in crystal sugar. . Traditional shortbread does not have heavy sugar like these. Walkers which can be purchased at most grocery stores is much better. I wish I had got my old fav...the kitchen sink. First of all, ignore the negative comments. I think it's easy to tell the majority of those people have never even been to the bakery. I have been here many many times and have always had excellent customer service and very good food! Breakfast foods such as: muffins (always a different kind), quiche, scones, and, especially, orange beasts (chewy rolls) are the best way to start off a day. They also have amazing cookies, cupcakes, soup, sandwiches, bread, etc. If there is something you want and don't see it, just ask. The owner, Mary, personally prepared my wedding cake. It was absolutely amazing. My family, friends, and in-laws (all from out of town) were amazed. It was decorated so nicely I hated to cut into it! A ONE OF A KIND FIND!! We were driving through Pueblo and stumbled onto this little jewel. It's an old school bakery and coffee shop. Homemade cookies, bake goods, garnola and many other treats. The owner was so friendly, We were blown away by how fresh everything was and how yummy it all tasted. I am from a suburn of Los Angeles and have been to bakeries in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Silver Lake and the San Fernando Valley. Non of these place can even compare to the Hopscotch Bakery. The owner obviously loves her job and it shows! We'll definitely stop there again the next time we are in Colorado. read more

This has to be the best bakery in Pueblo. I've gone in on numerous occasions for baked goods - a couple of cookies here and there for my girlies. I could usually get them to share a bite with me before they gobbled up every morsel of cookie goodness, and yummy those single bites always were. However, tonight was the first time I tried one of their cakes - a piece all to myself - and it was heavenly. My sister ordered the cake ahead of time as it was for my mom's birthday - mom's favorite, chocolate with raspberry filling between the layers and chocolate frosting. The cake was a deep dark chocolate, very moist, and very dense. The filling and frosting were a perfect consistency and neither was overly-sweet. The cake was topped off with a layer of chocolate ganache and shaved chocolate lightly covered the top. Not only was it delicious, but it was beautifully presented too. read more
