We were becoming totally frustrated in our search for an architect and a general contractor to…read moreguide an extensive remodel of our home. What we needed and seemingly could not find was an honest estimate of costs, an architect who could help us design our project and drive the permit process, and a contractor to build the project. Finally we happened upon STEL Builders. Cory, a walking advertisement for why you need to contract with STEL, jumped on our project and quickly gave us a realistic idea of costs. He introduced us to Frank, who is an awesome person and STEL's in-house architect. Frank gave us three options of drawings to choose from. Each option met our basic requirements and also outlined possible upgrades. Based on our budget, we committed to a plan. Within two months we had permits and construction began. We were assigned a dedicated project manager with whom we met weekly to assess progress in demo and ultimately new construction. Even before demo began, we met our design angel in Ivette. She guided us through selection of fixtures, cabinetry, tile, wall coverings, flooring; all the aspects of a remodel that keeps novices like us up at night. Her calm demeanor combined with her creative ideas made this an amazingly pleasurable experience! Ivette led us to our dream design outcome, and all within the budget we worked out with savant Cory in the beginning. STEL has great relationships with all the best subcontractors & receives priority on their projects, keeping the downtime in construction to a minimum. Midway through construction, our project manager left STEL. They hired a super pro replacement in Roberto. His many years of experience enabled us to stay on track for completion and enhanced the quality of the final product. Roberto is already a tremendous asset to STEL! And all along, even as he continued to take on new projects, Cory stayed in touch and treated us as if we were his only client. No question or inquiry we had was too small or insignificant for him to address nearly as quickly as it was expressed. We moved back into our home after six months and felt like every dream we had dreamt for our forever home had come true. The outcome has exceeded our very high expectations. In Cory's introduction, he touted STEL as a small, family oriented and local Design & Build Company. He was right about that. However, we think he understated how committed to these values Seth Larson and STEL Builders really are. They get it! For people like us, this is the largest and last big expenditure we'll ever make. We used Grunow Construction for a major home renovation that completed this year. We met with 4-5…read moredifferent construction companies before deciding on Grunow. The reason why we chose Grunow is because, Tom, the owner, took the effort to come back with more a proposal more than once and explained why he wouldn't be the lowest bid. He relayed to us that he takes pride in his work and that he ensures that the quality of the work speaks for itself. One of our other neighbors also used Grunow and seeing their construction in the works, we opted to trust Tom and we're so happy that we did. The project started off well and Dan was our foreman during the entire duration of the renovation. We lived here during the remodel, so we saw Dan pretty much every day for over a year. He made sure that things were getting done, trash was picked up, subcontractors showed up, asked us about specific details, gave us homework to make sure we selected the appropriate materials, gave us updates, worked with us on billing...anything related to a construction project, he did it! We really didn't know what we were getting into, but with Dan and Tom's help, we were able to achieve an amazing end result. Now, we did have some issues with billing where we had to sit with Tom and (Bill) to discuss the inaccuracies, but we were able to reconcile everything at the end. Tom mentioned that they learned from this experience and that they've implemented better time tracking systems, so I'm glad that Tom is still looking to improve his business even after being successful for so many years. We really have been impressed with the craftsmanship. My father-in-law is an engineer and when he visited us, he checked out everything and made sure that everything was level. He was extremely impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the structure (as are we!). Although this project took longer than we anticipated, Tom and Dan, made it as easy as possible to help us get through to making the right decisions for the long term. I'd definitely recommend Grunow Construction if you're looking for someone with an honest, trustworthy team who focuses on producing high quality work.

Grunow Construction installed new windows and doors for us on the front side of our house as the…read moreoriginal builder had installed them improperly and were neither water proof nor functional. Many problems with the original construction were discovered during the process and necessary corrections were made. Grunow's workers were very experienced and qualified, with some having worked for the company for decades. This says a lot about a construction company and it's ability to hire and retain qualified workers. On top of their qualifications, I have to say that every person on our job was a very nice person too. I never felt uncomfortable with anyone in our house, even when I was home alone. I mention this as the company that did our original construction hired people who seemed more "straight out of prison" than qualified craftsmen. We did have hiccups along the way, which anyone who has ever undertaken a remodeling project certainly has had, but Grunow still deserves a 5 star rating because they worked with us and made sure that we were happy with everything. Grunow gets our endorsement for honesty, integrity, and quality.
