We hired Elements as a general contractor to do a major remodel of our 2 story 60 year old house. The project included a new furnace, replacing all old attic insulation and ducting, total demo of all 3 bathrooms, painting the entire interior, and upgrades to lighting fixtures and flooring throughout the house. Gil Attias, the contractor, found a 'fire-resistant' paint for my house trim, and I decided to have the stucco painted to harmonize. Because firewise guidelines suggest a 5' perimeter, Elements replaced plants with DG and built a short wall to separate this area from the rest of the garden. Our family wanted to do some minor upgrades to our home; recessed lighting, upgrade flooring and vanities in two bathrooms, start a remodel on the laundry space, add crown molding to the downstairs rooms, redo the entire baseboards in the home (including stairs), and install new ceiling fans in two bedrooms. 1. Ben and his team stayed within the original budget discussed. Often during remodels there's always some extra costs that get tacked on. Not with this team. Following a flood that destroyed my kitchen, I hired Elements Design & Build to demo and rebuild it. This is a small condo kitchen with a budget to match (thanks, insurance). I had called some other companies and they either didn't have much to show for doing all new kitchens, or wouldn't take a job as small- potatoes as mine. They were very responsive to my tastes and limitations, and put together a really nice design that works better for the space than before. They were also very quick to get started, which I really appreciated for a job this size. I had been worried that they'd have to schedule me way out on the calendar due to it being a small job that isn't going to end up looking splashy on their website, but that was not the case. They took care to protect the floors on the way to the kitchen and drape things off to reduce dust getting into the rest of my apartment. They hit their budget right on and calendar pretty darn close. If there was one issue, it was a few spots of playing telephone between the project manager and the construction team lead, but considering they all had other projects on the go at the same time it was nothing major. We had a cinderblock wall built in the 60's that was falling apart. We called Elements and Rachael was out within 24 hrs to assess our situation. We decided on a replacement of a horizontal cedar board and the recommendation was spot on! They demoed and removed the old block wall, used treated posts for new fence, and placed beautiful cedar along over 70 ft of fence. It is just gorgeous! Further, they allowed us mid-project to add in our retaining wall that was also unsafe. This was incorporated into same time sked and at a very reasonable price. We will call then first for any additional design and construction work we need. Heres why: 1. Responsive- we shared a text channel and any questions, comments, concerns were answered within the hour. 2. Quality- the materials were top notch and the final product shows this. 3. Excellent Teamwork- the workers on my property were tidy, thoughtful, and without question hard working. They truly cared about keeping the working area safe from any mid-project hazards. 4. Shira from Elements Design and Build came to our house recently to listen to our plans for renovating a bathroom, involving replacing the bathtub plus the tub and shower fixtures, replacing the old tile and redoing the countertop and sinks. She paid close attention to what we wanted, asked pertinent questions, took careful measurements, and explained in detail the steps in the process to accomplish our goal. Within just a few hours after leaving, the office emailed me a detailed description of the work to be done and a cost breakdown. The price was very competitive with the one other estimate we had received for the same work. In the end we chose to have the other contractor proceed with the project, purely on the grounds that we have a personal connection with him and his wife.
