I just discovered Hormel Foods makes Planters and we eat their mixed nuts all the time! They are delicious! Of the 27 ounce mixed nuts that consists of cashews, almonds, pecans, pistacios and hazelnuts. I love them all except Cashews which are just overly rich in my opinion. I don't care for Planters peanuts; but my husband does enjoy them as does our pup. Traveling to Hawaii reinvigorated my like of Spam as they make it in interesting ways there and it's darn good! I was curious about the taste of SPAM Gochujang Flavor, released by Hormel Foods Corporation in the U.S., so I tried it. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend it. I wonder why they even made it. It's a bit spicier than regular SPAM, but it doesn't have the signature spicy flavor of gochujang. The flavor is vague and indistinct. I guess Hormel Foods Corporation suffered significant losses due to poor sales following the launch of SPAM Gochujang Flavor. read more

Okay, since I dropped a review on electronic spam it's only fitting that I make it rain for one of my lifelong fave breakfast meats too :-) Gotta love me some SPAM, I have been a big fan for as long as I can remember!! Hormel Foods and specifically SPAM celebrated its 85th birthday last week, can you believe it? I gotta say, for a six ingredient food product, it's certainly taken on a life of its own. That tasty square shaped mash-up of pork, water, salt, potato starch, sugar, and sodium nitrate had been satirized, alternately maligned, celebrated, musicalized, and even myth-alized. (Okay made that word up ;-) I remember the urban legend that its name is actually an acronym for "Scientifically Processed Animal Matter", not so much a big myth these days. Hormel himself claimed the product was named for a combination of the words "spice" and "ham," despite the fact that neither ingredient appears in Spam. Hmmmmmmm George A. Hormel & Co. became officially incorporated by 1901, processing whole hogs, beef, and sausage casings from its facilities in Austin, Minnesota. That's where you'll find a street called Spam Boulevard, a restaurant dubbed Johnny's Spamarama, and some restaurants serving dishes like the "Spam De' Melt" (a grilled cheese stuffed with Spam, bacon, and sour cream). It's also home to the Spam Museum, is this Spamtown, USA?? :-) SPAM made it's mark during World War II, when the US military purchased a variety of canned meats to feed troops overseas. Hormel's report their numbers at 100 million pounds of Spam sent abroad to both American and Allied soldiers. It was during WWII, SPAM made its way to England and the countries of the Asian Pacific, where rationing and the presence of American troops saw the meat become a menu staple. Also having food that can survive in the tropical heat and be kept on a shelf for weeks and months was a really big deal. The history of how it came to Hawaii is sorted but it's very popular has even been given its very own nickname, "hawaiian steak." It was even on the menuat local Hawaiian McDonald's or Burger King's. In fact, Spam mania in Hawaii has sustained a decade-old Spam festival in Waikiki, where chefs and Spam-lovers gather to appreciate and explore its role in Hawaiian culture. Yes, there's an annual Spam with 24,000+ attendees coming to sample dishes like Spam lettuce wraps, Spam and corn chowder, Spam-and-basil on Sicilian style pizza, and a dessert dubbed "Mom's Puerto Rican Spam flan." There's even been experimental flavors tried there like Pineapple, Maui Snow, Macadamia Nut, and Hawaiian Rainbow but they didn't make it to the permanent lineup. Sorry I missed those :-) In recent years Hormel has launched other flavors like Black Pepper, Jalapeño, and most recently, Chorizo and Teriyaki varieties. If you've seen the meme of Pumpkin Spice Spam on the internet, it was a real thing, seriously. In 2019 Walmart and the official Spam website debuted a that novelty flavor, where they were selling it exclusively. It sold out in a matter of a few hours. I'm glad I missed that one! Is it popular? More than 8 billion cans have been sold since the Hormel Corporation let the SPAM out in 1937 and it's currently available in 44 countries throughout the world. Currently The World Eats 3 Cans of SPAM Every Second! Bottom line: I like SPAM and I think it's cool to see the chefs in the foodie world coming up with new ways to make Spam dishes. I bought bacon bits and found something that looked like a large pork hair or similar. all hormel wanted was pictures and lot no. For the safety of myself and family ii decided to have this contaminant identified by a forensic pathologist. hormel didn't want the product back and wasn't concerned enough to pursue. is it normal to not pursue issue and warn the general public re. contamination. after analysis I will add additional comments and followup. read more

Quality of Herdez hot salsa has gone down.. It's horrible. No heat at all. Bought a case of it and it's so bad I gave it away... Try adding some fking heat to the HOT. Costly shit these days, wasted $3+ a jar. Also, tried to email them, their system kept telling me I needed a valid email address.. I tried both . Gmail and Yahoo addresses.. Both were denied..
