Temporary crown came out after 3 days. Permanent crown came out after a few days AND I had to drive from out of state to have them repair it as there were no solutions they were willing to offer for me to remedy the situation where I was. Had the terrible experience of retrieving that crown after swallowing it...when eating soup. I heard plenty about his divorce that was still pretty fresh at the time. Hearing loads of F-bombs at a family dentist and being told, after drilling down my tooth already, that they decided to charge me more (which they did not after I brought up that I was paying in cash and being held hostage with my mouth open was uncool) made it so that going back to get it reattached was more than a chore. Out of his good grace, I was told I would not be charged for reattaching a crown that should not have come out after only a few days. I laughed thinking he was joking about even considering charging me after I drove hundreds of miles to allow him the opportunity to remedy the situation. On Christmas 2021, permanent crown came out again when eating bread. Beyond the cement failing yet again (I have another crown that was 5x less the cost that has never come out), the lack of professionalism from the head dentist never sat well with me. I waited to review for the inevitable occurrence of it falling out again. Finally giving the stars this dentist deserves. Thankfully, the crown was able to be put back on elsewhere so at least it was salvageable. And I didn't swallow it on Christmas so avoided that inhumane and unsanitary experience a second time. Go to the dentist office down the street. They treated me very professionally and did an excellent job with my root canal on that same tooth and were also my best friend's family dentist the 5 years they lived in Blue Hill. They just weren't able to get the crown as quickly, but I certainly paid the price for wanting the crown done before I headed back out from Maine by going to Castleberry.

However, a patient who arrived after me was taken back and accepted for their appointment immediately. When I asked for an alternative appointment time, I was told the next available opening was a month later, leaving me without the required post-operative checkup.The lack of communication, the refusal to answer direct questions about wait times, and pushing a critical post-surgery follow-up out by 30 days is completely unprofessional. I hadn't been to my normal dentist since before COVID, so when I called, they said they could assess things in a couple days, but would need to find a new patient slot for me if anything needed to be done. I then looked online and saw there was a same day opening at the Aspen Dental in Ellsworth, so I booked it. And I'm so glad I did... I waited no more than 10 minutes once I arrived and had the full new patient intake: x-rays, gum health, 3D scan, and dentist assessment. Thankfully nothing was cracked but I did have a chipped molar that needed filling. Megan the hygienist was great, and Dr. Ghanem explained everything thoroughly. At checkout, Amber saw they had a cleaning opening in a few minutes, so she offered it to me on the spot since I was already there. She also was able to get me in for a filling only two days later. Given how hard it is to get any kind of appointment these days, I was extremely thankful. Overall it is a nice clean office, with really nice staff and convenient scheduling. I couldn't ask for more in a dentist's office - highly recommended!
