Great place to shop for veggies & fruit plus plants I would recommend them to the world

Beware of PANTRY MOTHS. They got into my pantry via their freshly packed nuts. Pantry moths spread quickly and are a nightmare to get rid of. You have to trap the males to stop the breeding cycle which takes months using pantry moth traps. Insecticide didn't work. Orkin didn't work. We had to toss everything in our pantry, seal all crevices, and repaint and it still took months because they got behind the wall and behind our fridge. Absolute nightmare. Horrocks is aware that they are infested with them and will not do anything about it. I used to love Horrocks but now I avoid it like the plague. I posted about it on a local FB page when it happened asking for ideas o. How to get rid of them and learned that several people got pantry moths from Horrocks too. read more

Horrock is so unique. Remind me of open markets in Asia and Latin America but much nicer. Because many items can be bought by weight and the varieties are different than your typical grocery store. Many local Michigan products that I don't see anywhere else, especially craft beer. They sell game meat here too. You can get elk and bison and alligator if you want, but they are not cheap. Have to come check it out. It is hard to describe it. read more

I've been to other locations, but first time in the Battle Creek establishment. Bum knee currently, so thrilled they have a couple electric mobility carts. Like the other locations, it is huge, I mean massive, with an onsite bar loaded with beer taps. My hubby was thrilled! Produce, flowers, bulk, ethnic foodstuffs, frozen foods, baked goods, candy, a massive hot soup bar and coolers full of beverages, both alcohol and NA. Easy to spend a couple hours just perusing the aisles. The coffee and tea selections are the largest anywhere. I just love Horrocks and wish we had one closer to where we live. Anytime we had a question, every employee we spoke with was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were nice and clean, always a bonus. They have a lovely indoor seating area so you can enjoy your beverage and/or food if you decide to eat something premade onsite, like soup, a sandwich or sushi. Live music offered at times too, so cool. There is always more to see than I ever have time for, unfortunately. Always looking for my next Horrocks fix though, lol. Bring money and wear comfy shoes. read more

I absolutely love Horrocks and it's probably good that I don't live too close. They have such a wide variety of fruits and veg, whole bean coffee, teas, meats and fish and and and! I love tasting the balsamic vinegar and olive oils, samples of popcorn, too. I'm always too late to try cheese samples, I think those must go quick! Horrocks - Inside - Farmers Market Near Me - Battle Creek, Michigan

I'm going to start off with the bad, hoping the owners will read. The bathrooms are terrible. For the place offering so many wonderful products, the restrooms are VERY unpleasant. People are drinking beer, eating and listening to music (wonderful for the community), people will need to empty their bladders. I walked past the overflowing trash, into a dirty stall, without toilet paper, said out loud, "oh no" & some other nice customer passed me a roll of toilet paper. Then I proceeded to walk to the dirty sink to wash my hands and throw my paper towel in the overflowing trash. The second time I used it, an hour later, it was worse. The toilet paper in the stall I originally used was not put in the dispenser and on the floor soaking up, what I presume to be pee. The second time I washed my hands, trash was overflowing still so I took paper towel and pushed it down myself. It's bad. I believe some of the toilets to be leaking. Towards the back, there is caked on grime. And the second stall has a trash lid isn't seated properly. Men's room is equally as nasty. Photos were taken at 7:30PM. Suggestion: hire a bathroom attendant during the evening, especially during functions. Have an employee do hourly checks, clean/ restock accordingly. You have a bar/ fast casual establishment. Many of those do that hourly. No need to comment on the rest. I am glad I don't see where the food is prepped. My husband is a chef and I am property manager... together we CRINGE. Customer service is on point. What Horrocks has to offer is awesome. Literally this is the only downfall that we see thus far. read more

Going to Horrocks with the family is nearly a special event for our family. We have always loved Horrocks but even more so since they moved to this location. Yes, it's always busy, but that has never really caused us any issues in regards to time. There's good flow through the whole market. The selections they offer give shoppers an opportunity to diversify their pantry and fridge that couldn't be normally achieved through a visit to your local neighborhood grocery store. During this visit we picked up some beautiful NY Strip steaks, mushroom and Swiss brats, Reuben chicken brats, green pepper and onion brats, and a few small sides to go with the steaks. I love horrocks and I cannot stress saying that enough horrocks is something that if you don't know what it is or what you're about to walk into it is going to catch you off guard. Horrocks is basically a massive mall on its own they sell anything you can think of and even imported foods they even have a drink bar, and all you can eat salad and soup bar you can get fresh foods such as nuts or even sushi all their meat is cut up fresh they even have a garden section with various plants they have a little mini restaurant inside. The wine section is bigger than any general story you'll ever find they have wine from all over the world they even have beer and IPAs from out of country. The Mexican food selection is my favorite part of horrocks they offer tamales that you can just cook at home and I'm not talking the cheap ones I'm talking expensive they offer a fresh seafood aisle as well. If you can think about it horrocks definitely has it. If you're looking at this and you're thinking about going don't bother thinking any harder this is your sign to go. read more

I grew up going to Horrock's in Lansing and have recently been able to stop at this location. Horrock's is truly my happy place. The produce, bulk goods, along with a walking drink. Perfection. The new location is cute the improvement. More parking, aisles are wider, and it seems bigger overall. read more

I love this new Horrock's location! The old location was less than stellar. The Lansing location is also great, FYI. This new location, in the old mall, is incredible! It's enormous. When you first walk in, head right for all the produce goodness, straight for flowers and shelf stable foods, or left for candy paradise. The veg section is what brings me here. You can sign up for the email every week, which alerts you to specials. Cabbage 19cents a pound? Yes please! There are always local options for the produce. There are also in-shell peanuts for 2.15/#. Tip: get the roasted salted ones, and reroast when you get home for truly incredible peanuts. There is also a beer garden, fresh deli, cheese, and meat counters, frozen (tamales! Blueberries!), and coffee. The shelf stable section has a great deal to offer. So plan to peruse, especially the Italian section. Their dried pasta is amazing, and this is also where my husband gets his pickled peppers, olives, etc., since russo's up in grand rapids closed. Tip: if you need the handicap cart, bring your own. They go so slow that you could start at open and still be trying to shop by the time lunch rolls around. read more

This place will send you into sensory overload in a heartbeat, in a good way. You name it, they pretty much have it. Wanna eat, you can do that. Wanna beer or a glass of wine, you can do that too! Want to listen to a band on the patio....yep! I can't even begin to explain this place and how much I feel in love with it. If it's your first time, I would set aside 2 hours.....no joke. This store is 20 miles from where I stay when in Michigan, but it is worth the drive. Selection of products especially the produce is huge and everything is fresh not old like in the chain stores like Meijer and Kroger. Store is clean, laid out nicely and staff is very friendly. They have a soup bar with 10+ varieties sold by the pound instead of container size, that way you can get theo exact amount you want. read more

Completely magical. I'm visiting from Los Angeles and we have nothing remotely as cool a this place. I'm sipping really great beer while watching a live band perform. There's an airplane hanging overhead. There's a stuffed bear hanging out of a Model T. There's really good fresh produce, gardening supplies, plants everywhere. It's whole vibe. This venue reminds me of an elite flea market, with fresh veggies, spices by the amount you want, doggo bones and stuff, wines/lots of wines... gluten free items, many, many cooking oils, cheeses, etc. Oh! I have been a loyal Horrocks customer since 1991, at the downtown location, ever since they had the Christmas part upstairs. I'm so glad they got a bigger store, it's connected to Lakeview mall. Hopefully it'll bring more business to the mall hopefully. The store is absolutely gorgeous. It's so big compared to the downtown location . The workers are so nice and helpful, always asking if you need anything. Very prompt. The selection of fruits and vegetables are GIGANTIC. I didn't think it could get any better. It did. Definitely more organized, more of a selection, everything has more room. The olive oil section is definitely expanded, their are more variety of meats and cheeses. Bigger space for popcorns and little things like that. This is definitely one of the hidden gems . If you haven't tried Horrocks, you are definitely missing out! read more

Great place to shop. Employees are very helpful. You will be surprised at everything they carry there. Produce, meats, ready made soups, pizza, cuts of meat local grocery stores no longer carry, like pork cutlets! They have an impressive inventory of wine and adult beverages as well as a bar where you can purchase a glass of wine while you shop. I shop there for a lot of items I haven't been able to get at what use to be my grocery store. I made several inquiries with my old grocery store. They never even acknowledged I asked. Tired of all the empty shelves less variety. You'll have the time of your life at Horrocks nice seating area if you just want to set for a few minutes and relax listen to music. Have lunch with your friends or to find a special gift. They have it all there. So thankful for Horrocks and their beautiful store! read more

The good is it loaded to the gills with every different type of food item. In meats, I was looking for Hanger steak ( didn't have) and narrow skirt steak- the less wide ones are the very tender ones. I got 2 that were medium wide. So I can't tell you if these were the Inside or the Outside skirts. Not labeled meat. Above the regular meats were small sections of strange meats. There was camel meat for instance. The fish dept was small as Michigan is only a fresh water fish type place. I liked the deli salads bar choose your own and also prepacked. I like the stuffed little red peppers and the other Horrocks dont carry it. Why? Lots of olives and some greek salad stuff. I bought a few Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). The cheeses are a long counter and very well stocked with many types. I got a rolled herbed goat cheese to try. The Kerrygold butter was in this section but I don't know if there was any in the dairy section. The food sections were very mixed up. I didn't like having to search and ask where anything was. I wanted some regular old decaf instant coffee but we couldn't locate that. We gave up on the cream and milk. A loaf of plain white bread was nowhere. They had some sort of beer hall honky tonk band going making it a general din that conversation was impossible. By that time, half fruitless searching and half trying to buy food that was unusual. soups that were out of supply and containers to put food in missing, I was done. Tired and overwhelmed. Very few checkers also. I would say this Horrocks is a adventure destination. Plan on overspending and purchasing more than you want. Fruit and veg huge supply. Non food- huge supply. Have fun and plan on a good amount of time if you have it! read more

Horrocks new location is fantastic! It is an easy on and off from the I-94 freeway which is great for me as I live two hours away but am passing that way a couple times a month. The produce is exceptional. I bought a watermelon that is the best I have had in a long time. This new location is well displayed. In addition to great produce, they have a beautiful floral department, great deli, and most everything you would expect from a grocery market and so much more. This is the most upscale establishment to buy groceries at in Battle Creek. I plan to enjoy some food from the deli and eat in their cafe on my next visit. I will be stocking up on produce for home. read more

I was shocked and very disappointed to find that the fish I bought from Horrocks is from Kazakhstan. Where in the world could there possibly be more freshwater fish than in Michigan? I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't read the label better before buying it. I will not be buying fish from here again. Support your local fisheries Michigan company. read more

Horrocks new location is huge with a good selection of flowers, fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood. I have enjoyed my shopping experiences there until Tuesday afternoon at the meat/seafood section. I checked with a lady close to me that was being waited on. Asked if there was anyone else, no, great I'm next I'll be by the seafood to get what I wanted. Guy finished with customer went on to serve two other ladies. Another guy came out to help, didn't ask who was next I'm line helped someone else. I'd been waiting for a least 10 minutes and was frustrated. Then TJ 3rd worker came out saw me and was the most went above and beyond to be helpful and very nice. Thank you TJ !!! This review is for you. Made a frustrating experience to a nice one. read more

A fat person's paradise! I had to brush my teeth after going just from looking at all the isles and isles of bulk candy!!!! I wish I could camp out in the parking lot! No problems whatsoever with checkout. They had plenty of cashiers. My only complaint had nothing to do with them. I just wish I had brought a bigger cooler after seeing what all they have! read more
