I've known about Horrock's for years as I lived in East Lansing and then worked near the Grand Rapids location, but I had never visited this original spot until recently, and I was blown away! First of all, it's a massive store (70,000 square feet) and it is FULL of amazing things. I was immediately overwhelmed walking in, but you could spend hours here looking at stuff. It wasn't too busy, which was nice as I don't know if I could have handled it if it was crowded. If you've ever been to Jungle Jim's, this is like a mini version. They have tons of produce, food, snacks, grocery items, bulk candy, freshly made popcorn, lawn and garden items, housewares, clothing, gifts, drinks, a bar in a heated greenhouse, plants, a ramen bar, soup bar, pizza bar... etc. I saw so many things I wanted to buy that I'd never seen before. We did find a lot of great stocking stuffer items! We were pretty hungry, so we grabbed a couple slices of pizza and then trekked out to the heated greenhouse where a band was setting up. They have live music regularly and every seat was taken. The pizza was delicious and really hit the spot. Nate had a beer from the bar and I tried a local sparkling green tea, which we liked so much that we bought a pack of it back inside. I'm so glad we stopped in to Horrock's and I would definitely come back. If I lived in town I would probably be here monthly!

Go to Horrock's, PLEASE!! Grocery store lovers (surely others exist?), I implore you to visit this heaven of a store. Picture a massive Costco sized store, but instead of big brand bulk items, it's local delicious specialty food items. You can find interesting things here. I recommend you set aside two hours to explore. I'm serious. They have a bar that also includes non-alcoholic beverages and the shopping carts include a cup holder. Where to start though? Fruits, vegetables, soup bar, cheese galore, huge candy bar with Michigan fudge... Lots of frozen meats and vegetable packs, a chilled dairy room, fresh sausages. Oh, the COFFEE and the OIL section?! Yes, you can taste the different oil flavors. And you can and will find the coffee that suits any taste. I make a 1.5 hour drive to go here every now and then, and it's always worth it. Bring reusable bags to keep your frozen food cold. And don't step in the plant section unless you want to come home with some flowers or a pretty plant, it's too tempting! I'm not saying anymore. Either you go or you miss out on the magic

Our daughter told us about this place so we decided to stop in on a Friday morning since we were in the area and we are both Foodies. This is a huge market featuring produce from around the world plus an onsite bakery, wine and beer garden plus a lot more! It looks like it started as a farmers market and kept expanding. You can pour your own oil or vinegar or grind coffee. They serve hot food such as pizza and soups plus they have a large salad bar for meals to go. Established in 1959,this market is family owned with multiple locations thru out Michigan. I would imagine it gets super crowded on the weekends especially when they have special events. Definitely a place to visit and spend a few hours while in the area.

I've been coming here since a child. I didn't care much for it as a kid, but I LOVE it now as an adult whenever I'm visiting the area. It's changed so much, and yet some parts have stayed the same. The place honestly smells nostalgic, except the scent from the newer spots, like the popcorn area. The employees have been consistently considerate and look like they're working hard. The popcorn varieties are great, and the chocolate seafoam is good. I prefer the smaller bits over the bigger pieces because the smaller bits are carmelized well with enough flexible chew, while the bigger pieces are tougher to break down. Loved all our treats! Thanks, Horrocks!

Incredible indoor farmers market, garden center and grocery store hardly describes all the goodness packed in every aisle here. We truly didn't know where to look first. I was glad it was a weekday because weekends must be crazy crowded. We bought the largest candy covered caramel apple for the grandkids. They have an entire aisle of gluten free products. You can grind your own coffee beans. We sampled and bottled our own bourbon peach flavored balsamic vinegar. There is so much candy! There is also a beer garden and an interior bar. They have a few different locations in Michigan. This is a great spot to buy unique gifts.

Love love love this farmer's market! This farmer's market is enormous and has so much high quality variety. The gelato flavors are excellent and there are many flavors. There is an area with dried snacks and a section where you can make your own peanut butter with peanuts you can see right in front of you! There is a huge soup section, candy section, popcorn section, beer and wine section, olive oil section, tea section, and the list goes on... the service is super friendly and the ambiance is chill. The best.

This is so much more than a market- it is an experience! Carefully stocked and curated with local sourced foods as well as international too- you can find things you didn't even know you wanted! The staff is helpful and abundant! Each department has some friendly face to ask a question or point you in the right direction. It's a space for your senses! Smell the roses, sip some wine while you shop, fancy a gelato? Sure! Have a scoop or two! I miss being local to this great store!

Still a killer stop onu way through to the lake house. This location is the original store for Horrocks in 1959 and they are keeping up with growth. The fact I can get beer or wine and grocery shop still makes me smile. The items they carry are local Michigan and regional based products. The staff is extremely helpful and kind when helping you get items behind the counter. I just love the layout and the access to all the different goodies. Did NOT get to stop at the beer garden today due to time but heard the band starting up for the night. Great place to be and worth th stop.

Ask the Community - Horrock's Farm Market

What are the busiest times to go?

    Weekend mornings and weekday nights

    Which Horrocks Farm Market better?

The best is the first. It all started in LANSING. My photos and experience at Horrock's is top notch. From beer and wine selection to cheese and fresh baked bread. My choice is always Horrock's.

Do you sell Sea Market Sea Scallops?

Yes! They sell a wide variety of seafood including scallops.

I've been searching for a place to purchase jinro soju, would I find it here?

I would check Fresh International Market in EL. The other option would be Hmart in Troy.

I love being able to learn about local farmers, artisans, and experts in town. They offer several options to exchange funds and many of the vendors take multiple payment options. All of the vendors that I've met have been really kind and fair-priced if not sometimes cheaper than big stores. The social media accounts will often tell you what vendors will be at the market each day and I think that can be really helpful! There's free parking which is really nice but the market does get busy VERY quickly. I know the Saturday markets during the summer can be suuuper busy so I'd recommend going early or knowing you may need to walk.

Good thing they asked if I had a question! I got my answer and received my Apple. Yay! They have some stands that make coffee and breakfast and lunch items but I had already eaten. Next time I'll try some of the food stands. I walked the whole market up one side and down the other. There is a small portion that is indoors. All in all, I spent about 20-30 min there. I grabbed some baked goods and some handmade goods as well. The vendors do have bags but I recommend you bring your own. Some take cash, all take credit. There is some cover if there is rain. Parking is plentiful and free!
