The menu has a good selection and we decided to go for the combination platter for starters to share. Chicken satay, prawn sesame seed toast, vegetable spring rolls and BBQ ribs were served on a large platter and soon disappeared! Next up was Beef curry and fried rice - the beef was succulent and tender and I choose the king prawns and cashew nuts in a potato basket which was nicely presented. The food here is a-ok not outstanding but the service is excellent. There is a good amount of time between courses so you are not felt rushed. The atmosphere is OK too but the sound level of the music could be ramped up a tad. All in all a nice restaurant with a welcoming feel and authentic decor.

I far prefer the small sitting room beside the bar (which is in itself not too shabby), open fires and a large brandy... very nice. The grounds are huge and just the thing for you to wander around with a hang-over, a couple of hours of fresh air, including a visit to the pot bellied pig and the chickens, leaves you hungry and ready for more food.... Which is really what this place is about. The bar food is great, a little expensive but worth it. I'm giving 4 stars because we cant award halves - 3.5 would be my preference but it in no way deserved 3 so 4 it is!!

We were also told that the noise outside the window was coming from a kitchen fan and that it would stop momentarily. This was not true and the noise continued throughout the night. The manager was barely apologetic and did not offer us a discount on the room or even to buy us breakfast the next morning. Overall, I think this could have been handled much better. We were given a better room the next day. Although we ended up staying for the next few days, I would not recommend this hotel again. If you're hoping for a river view, you probably won't get it as most windows do not face out that way. Instead, you will probably end up with a view of the roof and equipment. The food in the restaurant was actually very good. You can tell that their main focus is special events, like weddings, as they were constantly busy. If you're ever offered room 103, I suggest that you pass as that room is noisy, smells and does not offer Air Conditioning in the summer.

So if your standards are low then you will not be disappointed, and if you are as delusional as the manager then possibly you will think you hit the jackpot. However if you are a normal well balanced human being and are looking for a decent 4* hotel, this is not it.

The chips were served in a silly little bucket which is a pet hate of mine. The fish pie was an extremely small portion and was served with chips on the side (in silly bucket) in attempt to bulk out the meal, even though there was no mention on chips in the menu description. Very poor for €17.95. Overall, very disappointed. Oh, and the mens toilets were spotlessly clean, however, there was no hand soap!

He said it was some of the best food around and he was right. I enjoyed a wonderful filet and my mom had fish. Both dishes were plenty to get full on. There was a line there with a few people as we ordered and retrieved our own beverages, but it was nice to have a bar to ourselves. The food was very good, but I remember vividly my girlfriend asked for her bacon to be cooked well and when they brought it out and it wasn't to her likening, the server replied, "What, you won't eat it like this?" To which, my girlfriend replied, "No." We had a bit of a chuckle about it later as I guess the waitress was pretty perturbed that she had to instruct the cook to fry it longer. There is a favorite bread around these parts called, Blaa. I have included a picture of it. Description from Wiki - A blaa /bl/, or Waterford Blaa, is a doughy, white bread bun (roll) speciality, particularly associated with Waterford, Ireland.[1] It is currently made in County Waterford and south County Kilkenny. The Blaa was soft and delish. I have also added a pic of the Blaa at the local market. Final thoughts, the hotel is a bit dated and older, but I was impressed with the food. Overall, this was a solid breakfast spread. From their hot breakfast menu, do yourself a favor and order their "Local 'Walsh's Bakehouse' Blaa". This is a sandwich served in a Waterford blaa (bread/roll) with sausage, rashers (i.e. bacon) and a fried egg. The Waterford blaa is the standout part of this sandwich with how doughy and soft it is, while the contents inside were excellent! This sandwich, with a side of fruit and a cup of coffee, is an excellent and filling way to start the day!

A separate bar area, and a room to the side for private parties. The food is very good, with huge servings. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There are bus stops right outside the hotel, making it easier to use public transportation. A taxi from Wexford city to the hotel runs about 13 pounds. I would stay here again .
