Even if you need to board your horse you can go there and you can be with them anytime you want. These horses are loved by everyone even if the horse isn't theirs. They have wonderful horses to suit any rider from beginner to advanced levels. I help with the Therapeutic Riding Program as well as general stable duties. I love every minute and I get to ride in exchange for volunteering. If anyone is a horse lover and a people person, I highly encourage you to volunteer at this wonderful establishment.

I witnessed horses being abused in "training" at Solstice Farms. For ex, the so-called "trainer"…read more repeatedly and violently yanked on a horse's mouth one day, which is obviously counter-productive for training dressage horse. The old saying, "Abuse begins where knowledge ends," is applicable here. I was there when a horse put his eye out in his stall. The stable owner (Marie Morgan) did not ensure that the stalls were safe. Another horse died, but I do not know the circumstances surrounding that occurrence. When my horse got scraped up in her stall, the owner could not have cared less, and seemed more annoyed that I was concerned about my horse's welfare. One evening, I went to check on my horse, and Ms. Morgan threatened to call the police on me for "trespass," even though I was a paying boarder. One day, Ms. Morgan decided to put rocks in the barn aisle, which could have caused stone bruises. She left them there for months. Another act of high strangeness was when she put stalls in the covered dressage arena - an arena that was supposed to be available to boarders for riding. When I asked how long they were going to be there, she informed me that I had to leave her barn (a breach of contract). I would not recommend boarding or training at Solstice Farms. I do not think it is a safe environment for horse or rider.

I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. Came here for the first time for a trail ride with a group of strangers, for a solo date on a…read moreSaturday afternoon. I missed the exit to turn into to get to the ranch, I may have missed the sign on the road, but my GPS eventually got me there, lol Upon arrival there's plenty of parking. The email has super specific instructions for your arrival. Including arriving 30 minutes before your ride time. I got there about 20 minutes beforehand and that was plenty of time. If you come with a group belive entire party has to be present to check in together. $68 bucks for a group ride rate per person. If you miss the email or forget all of the steps just look for the check in desk and they will go over everything. You must wear a helmet to ride, for your protection. And they offer free bandanas to protect your hair (and for sanitary reasons) from the helmet, that was nice. They match up the horse with each individual, I think based on height and weight. That takes about 15 min to get everyone matched and saddled up for the ride. The trail is covered by trees in the forrest, but it's still hot out in the elements, so be sure to hydrate before and after. Pro's -Quality time to get to know your horse before and after the ride - zero riding experience required, but does help -staff for most part friendly, willing to take pics for you in and off the horse - children, and special needs folks are welcome Cons - possible emergencies will cut your ride short - riding instruction only given to the front of the large group not the back - ride may not start on time, so give yourself extra cushion time if you make time sensitive plans after. Tip not required, bur encouraged. Overall a fun experience. But may do a private ride in future to get more detailed and intimate instructions. Enjoy!

Horses are checked often & carefully by Kim & her knowledgeable staff, so I have absolute confidence that my horses are well cared for when I am unable to get there for lengthy periods of time. I've also enjoyed taking riding lessons from Kim because she is extremely horse saavy, encouraging & positive.
