Camp Jam - Simply Amazing!…read more Where do I even begin? Camp Jam was an absolutely incredible experience for my 6-year-old son last summer. As soon as we picked him up on the last day, he was already begging to go back again this year! The staff was phenomenal - incredibly welcoming, nurturing, and talented musicians themselves. You could tell they genuinely loved working with kids and fostering a love of music. The camp facilities were top-notch as well, with great equipment and spaces for all the different activities. My son came home each day excited to tell us about all the new songs, instruments, and music skills he had learned that day. From singing to piano, drums, And violin. he was exposed to such a wide variety of instraments. The counselors made everything fun and interactive. But beyond just having a blast, I was so impressed with how much he actually learned and grew his musical abilities in just one week. Camp Jam truly sparked a passion - he's been begging for piano lessons and trumpets his new repertoire of camp songs constantly around the house! I can't say enough about what an amazing opportunity this was. The life-long appreciation and skills Camp Jam nurtures are invaluable. We've already signed up for multiple sessions this summer - it's an absolute must for any family! Highest possible recommendation!

In music, they were introduced to a variety of instruments including violin, recorder, keyboard, and ukulele. I was amazed that in just a few short hours over several days, they were able to learn the basics and even perform on the violin on the final day. This experience inspired me to purchase two violins and plan for them to start lessons afterward. I truly appreciate Mr. Barry and all the teachers for their dedication and care. My kids are already looking forward to next year's camp!

It is not too far from home and very new and clean. I am guessing this camp is less than five years old but the construction and thought process behind the layout is wonderful. They have a huge slide that goes into the lake. They have a theatrical theater, new, clean, very nice cabins that have AC. They keep out fresh fruit as snacks, and my daughter being a vegetarian had no problem at all. The leaders of this camp base everything (from what I can tell) about developing your daughter into a strong independent person. They stress the great women in history and the impact they made on our lives. They lead your child into coming home full of confidence and pride in the things they accomplished with out your help. My daughter did one week last year but it will be two this year. This camp made a huge impression on her life and I am excited to see how she grows in the next session this summer. This is a very nice safe and protected place for you child. I often look at the picture on her wall hanging out in front of her cabin , messing around with her friends, having the time of her life. Sincerely, Papa Bear.

My daughters have been going to this camp for 5 years. Every year, they count down the days until…read morethey can go again. It's been a magical place for them. I'm so happy that Piper and Popsie (the leaders) have been part of our lives. Some of my favorite stories my girls have shared.... When my youngest daughter went for the first couple years, she had a "big sister" from the 9th grade leadership girls. The big sisters are supposed to grant wishes for the little sisters. Well, my daughter wanted to stop time. So, her "big" got everyone in the camp to agree that if my daughter yelled "Freeze!" in the dining hall, everyone would stop in place for five seconds. It was an empowering moment to know her wish could come true in such a creative way. Another year, my older daughter was struggling with some friendship issues. When the counselors ended up giving her the firelighter award - as someone who represented the spirit of camp - her entire self-perception changed in a very positive way that carried forward out of camp. This year, the middle school girls wrote everything they didn't like about themselves on post its, stuck them on their counselors, then ripped the post-its to shreds... so they knew they could destroy the power those things had over them. On top of all these amazing self-empowerment moments, camp is just fun! My girls come back learning new songs, happy about new friends, and exhausted from having so much activity for two solid weeks. And they even rave about the food. We heart CLC.

As a 100% outdoor activity event center located in a flood-prone area, you'd think they'd have a plan. I don't blame the weather on them, but I do expect that they figured out how to create the best experience in spite of it, hours and days before, rather than just shrug and go, 'oh well'. The weather forecast was VERY confident that heavy rain would be there 24+ hours before - all local channels, Space City Weather, Jeff Lindner - it was a SURE thing. For example, bring the food under the tent BEFORE the time we were supposed to be eating, instead of wasting 45 minutes trying to rig a 'path' so we don't get wet waiting in line, even though the biggest problem there was water pooling and mud. The restroom is about a football field away from the only covered area we could remain, so they should have rented a port-o-potty to be closer, or have those plastic sidings to their golf carts to assist people in the mud and rain. Props to the Sheriff's Deputy that seemed more customer service oriented than the staff - he was telling us what was going on and seemed like he wished he could do more. Meanwhile they said they had a lot of staff milling about because the outdoor activities were canceled - not sure why they weren't pushing all the standing water out of the tent, or passing out food, etc. The store bought cookies they brought out were an after-thought, because they canceled the pre-arranged Funnel Cakes but didn't tell anyone. There were so many things canceled or cut short that still could have been managed with some preparation - like more tent siding they could drop down to stop rain from coming under the smaller tent. The food was good, but there was so little of it! I don't think they served the amount that was paid for, we ran out of some things. I can tell they're used to handling young kids, because they were treating us grown adults like we only eat 2 small pieces of brisket, 3 sausage slices and 2 tablespoons of potato salad! I was excited about the petting zoo - I'm sure the animals were safe inside a barn away from the rain. Again, if they had their golf carts prepped for rain, they could have offered to drive us back and forth to see them. There's a lot of risk mitigation that needs to be learned for an event facility such as this - if your event is expecting rain, cancel or reschedule!

I was looking for a banquet room venue for my daughter's sweet 16 party in December. I reached out, and they confirmed that the date I was interested in was available. I let her know approximately how many people and expressed interest in using her catering services. My daughter chose steak and potatoes, and I wanted to add a large charcuterie board. I was told that someone would get back to me in a few days with a quote price. I never heard back, and it's May. My husband brought up a good point thinking that there were probably a lot of big company Christmas parties in December, so my little party was probably not a priority booking during thst busy time. I get it, if that's the case. It's just not good to tell someone you will get back to them in a couple of days, then don't. It's May 3rd. Luckily, I found another place I like even more in Waller County to have her party. I understand choosing priority bookings, but I don't understand not following up at all, even if it is to tell me that my date was no longer available.

Roland, our trail guide, was outstanding. He has a loving command of the horses as an experienced horse trainer, who is majoring in animal science. His relationship with the horses made us feel secure. He floated back and forth, chatting with each rider and ensuring that everyone was well. APFD, thank you so much for a great time of refreshing as we prepared to enter 2026. We would definitely recommend APFD to anyone who wants to take in the serenity of nature, disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the day, and needs a whoosah break. I made an online payment to secure the horses and we were on our way. It was a pretty smooth process. The horses were pleasant and not intimidating. Our guide was an experienced rider and answered every question we could of lol. They have many different kinds of animals there, it gives ranch but not farm vibes. *insider tip* They offer 2 different types of rides! A regular trail ride and an "experience" trail ride which includes trotting and cantering. This is good to know so you schedule accordingly. They use different horses for different experiences. Apple Maps kept redirecting me every 5 min and delaying me an extra 20min!, so i would recommend just searching "A Place for Dreamers" and get directions. Just go! It was a great time overall and I'm looking fwd to revisiting!
