GLAD I TOOK A SUGGESTED "SUPRISE VISIT"
I love how the pictures shown on the website must have either been taken BEFORE the stalls were in suck peril state, or a stall was fixed just to take an aerial view picture. I went for a "surprise visit" like your website suggested last week and there were cars but no one answered the door so I took a peek around.
What did I notice... The outside doors do not close properly to ANY barn, stalls are in poor condition & some flooded!, uneven stall mats, a irritable horse in a make-shift stall pawing at a gate, a injured horse in a stall with dressings on multiple legs!, a cat limping around on 3-legs holding one paw under its belly, uneven isle ways FLOODED with water, locker area flooded with water, horses with no shelter options in their paddocks by the parking area, many downed fences (both wooden & wire kind of fencing), leaking spots in the roof everywhere, bird/chicken shit everywhere, a whole crew of chickens (APPROX. 10) that followed me everywhere clucking at me, and a heated barn that reeked of urine. Oh, I almost forgot the FIRE HAZARD where a space heater was being used to heat a hose box IN THE HORSE BARN!
It also seems as though there are too many horse at this facility, I believe there were 60+ horses in one pasture. And this pasture area is a SHIT PIT!!! It seriously looks as though they spread manure over the snow in the pasture & then put hay out on top in piles for the horses to eat?! Many of the horses that came up to the fence had scabs all over & injuries in different stages of healing. There were also many horses with blankets that were torn to shreds or missing pieces to their blankets. There is not NEAR enough shelter for this #of horses to take cover from wind/sleet/rain/HAIL, sun. There is a post in the middle of the pasture as well, a jagged random post? I do not see the "96 Acres either", there is sure a lot of swampy looking ground there.
This must be scummy ppl who board here, I mean would you really want to eat off your own shit? Sleep in a area with bird/chicken shit all over & chickens laying eggs in your food bin? Seriously, I feel bad for the horses here:( Not to mention I would not be able to sleep at night worrying about my horse being burned alive because a plug-in electrical space-heater IN THE WATER HOSE ROOM started a fire in the barn!!!
So I suggest you do the same as I did & take a "sneak peek" before taking your horse to this facility! Print this review out and take as a checklist of things to look at on your visit! read more
