I do not recommend this place as they are discriminatory in their practices, rude in customer service and generally unhelpful. Our dog has been to many doggy daycare and boarding facilities without issue, and when we attempted to set up a meet-and-greet, they wouldn't even consider our dog based on claiming that she is a "bully breed," My partner informed the person with whom he spoke that our dog has been professionally trained and never had any issue with aggression or behavior at any point. They would not even consider this information, nor were they willing to offer suggestions for other facilities we could consider. If this were truly a professional organization, they would know how to accept and accommodate all breeds and not be discriminatory in their practices. We are happy to send our dog and our business to another more professional and respectful facility in the Twin Cities. read more

The staff here are really rude and unhelpful. They claim to be dog lovers, but they don't allow what they call "bully breeds" and they won't recommend any other dog daycares that do. (When I asked, the man on the phone literally said, "We don't recommend anywhere, but you definitely can't come here." Thanks, dude.) They say they can't accept "bully breeds" because it's an insurance issue, but there are plenty of insurance policies out there that do, plus any true professional who works with dogs knows the whole "bully breed" thing is just a way to discriminate against certain dogs and dog owners. My guess is this place has a very limited insurance coverage, which actually makes me question the safety of the facility, in general. If they're not willing to pay for a comprehensive insurance policy that covers all dogs, what else are they skimping on? We may have dodged a bullet by being denied by them. Thankfully, there are a number of other professional dog daycares in the nearby area that have good insurance policies and are happy to have our dog. read more

Super disappointed that this facility does not accept bully breeds and claim that it is because of their "insurance policy". It's not difficult to get a policy that covers bully breeds - and if a business claims to know & love dogs, you would think that they would know & love ALL dogs and ensure that they service them as well. This is akin to having a domestic animal vet say they do not care for those breeds. Ridiculous. I am getting another dog who is not a bully breed, but I would never consider bringing that dog to this facility on principle alone - even though it is less than 5 minutes from my house and would be extremely convenient. read more

Having an older dog I was hoping to find an alternative to traditional kennel boarding, where dogs are confined from 8 or 9 o'clock (sometimes earlier) until the next morning. Luckily Urban Hound recently opened up and offers what I need. They don't crate or kennel the dogs overnight (unless you request it). They replied to my questions over email (which isn't always the easiest with a daycare/boarding business) and set up a meet-and-greet on short notice. They put my mind at ease that my dog would be well taken care of. Although I don't live close enough for daycare, I can tell they'd be a fine option for daycare as well. Its been three days and we already feel like we're part of the "pack" and family. Everyone is truly interested and invested in making my three dogs comfortable and happy while at daycare. They ask a lot of good questions right away to get to know the dogs and what would be a good fit for them. They even understood particular quirks of the breed. My pup and I love Urban Hound! They have always been so welcoming and happy to see us. I love that they have an online portal where you can book daycare and boarding. I have been taking my dog there since she was 4 months old and is always so excited when I tell her we are going to doggie daycare! This place is top notch and the results speak for themselves! After 3 nights, our dog came home HAPPY. We had only one previous experience with boarding (elsewhere), and in that instance, our dog came home depressed, despondent and completely unlike the dog we had left behind. One of the selling points of UHPG is they have staff on site 24 hours and did not crate our dog at night. Beyond the clean facilities and thoughtful staff, this seemed to make all the difference. I highly recommend this facility for day care and / or boarding and will definitely be back....in fact our dog is already booked for his next stay. We are extremely satisfied customers and incredibly relieved we found a place we are comfortable leaving our dog whenever we want or need to travel. read more

When we found Urban Hound we knew it was the perfect fit! Our dog has been boarded there several times now and every time she goes back she is always excited. We love the Facebook posts they make daily with what the pups did that day and love how they do cute little things to celebrate holidays and doggie birthdays! They always are very attentive and share how our dog did in her time there at pick up. Also notable is their "social sleeping" set up, because our dog gets anxious in new settings and for her to not be isolated for boarding is great! We love that they're family owned and operated and always so accommodating with drop off and pick up times. Could not recommend Urban Hound more! read more

I am so happy that Urban Hound opened last year. I am so happy that I can bring my pup there a few times a week and have a wonderful experience. The owners really care about what they do and make it more of an experience for my pup rather than just leave them be to on their own. I recommend UH to anyone and everyone to bring in their dog. I utilized Urban Hound Playground for daycare for my dog while I was visiting from out of town. They were very accommodating and convenient and from my experience, they also seemed well organized and caring. I hardly leave my dog anywhere as she has separation anxiety, and I know she was well cared for while she was there. My only issue with this place is the VERY strong perfume odor that my dog came home with when I picked her up. When I inquired about what that might be, they indicated that it might be the cleaning solution they use to keep the place germ free. They said it was supposed to smell like Eucalyptus. It did not smell anything like that, but rather like very, very strong glade plug-ins. I am very sensitive to strong, perfume odors, and I reacted strongly to the scent on my dog. My other family members also noticed the smell. While I appreciate that they keep the place clean, I am not sure the scent came from the cleaning solution but rather could have been some odor used to mask the potential smell of that many dogs in one area. I could smell it in the parking lot outside the building! I get that the place needs to be clean and odor-free, but scents like that can actually be toxic for both dogs and humans if made from phthalates. I will be moving back to the area, and I wish I could use them for doggie daycare. But sadly, I will have to find another place only because of the scent that my dog comes home with after staying there. read more

I can't say enough positive things about UHP! My 11 month old puppy Keeva has been going 2-4 times a week for several months now and absolutely loves it there. The entire staff are wonderful with her and always willing to go the extra mile to help me out - whether it is giving her some medications mid day, wrapping a hurt tail, or squeezing her in on a day when they are already full just to help me out. I never worry about her and will happily board her there overnight if I need to go out of town. I am so pleased I found this wonderful day care for my dog. read more

Our dog loved Urban Hound! We checked out a few other daycares facilities in Minneapolis, but we're not too impressed. As soon as we dropped off our dog (Fred), we knew instantly that this was the perfect fit. The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgable! The facility was very clean and HUGE! I've seen quite a few dog facilities in the Minneapolis area, and I would rate this one close to the top. Fred is very excited to go back and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone! read more
