I recently had to pay a visit to the Emergency Department at El Camino. I have been to this ER many…read moretimes as well as being a patient in the main hospital for surgeries and the recovery that follows. I have always experienced excellent care here. I have an auto immune disease that sometimes causes my inflammatory markers to skyrocket and this will cause me so much pain, beyond what I can control at home. That's exactly what happened last week. I knew I was in trouble and needed to get to the ER fast. My husband got us there quickly and I checked in. I was taken to the triage area for my vitals. Luckily I'm in their system. And most of my Doctors are connected with El Camino because they are a part of Sutter Health. So the hospital knows my health history. The waiting area was packed with sick people. I'm thinking, this is going to be a long and painful wait. I was called back to see the Dr. within a few minutes, which was surprisingly quick. They got me a wheelchair and took me back. All of my joints were hurting so bad that it hurt to walk. I explained everything to Dr. Tsai. I appreciated that he listened to me and took the time to ask important questions. I told him I was supposed to get labs done tomorrow for my metabolic panel because I wasn't feeling well and I told him that the way I was feeling probably meant my inflammatory markers, ESR and C-reactive protein were probably very high. He told me he would order all those tests immediately and start me off with pain pills first and then progress to stronger IV meds if the pills didn't work. I also mentioned to him that the new medication that I have been taking for this problem has not been working very well and my rheumatologist was trying to get prior authorization to increase the dose of that new medication. That's why my pain had gotten out of hand. I was sent back to the waiting area, again, to wait to get my labs done. I was again called back within a few minutes. I was taken back for the bloodwork. Then taken to a private patient room, where I could lay down in a bed and get my IV started. I met the nurses that would be taking care of me. I let them know that it's hard finding my veins. I appreciated that the nurse believed me and got a vein finder to help with finding a vein. She was able to find one that was deeper, in my arm, but it was a good vein. She got the IV started. Her patience with getting my IV started was awesome. A lot of times nurses don't believe me when I tell them I'm a hard stick. She was wonderful and did an amazing job with my IV. Since the pills didn't work for my pain, we moved on to stronger IV pain medication. I was also felling nauseated from the pain. They didn't hesitate to give me nausea medication, right away. As it turned out, my inflammatory markers were extraordinarily high. They gave me the best pain management over the next several hours and didn't discharge me until my pain was under control and I was more relaxed and calm. Pain like that is horrible. I want to give a huge thank you to Dr. Tsai and nurses for listening to me and my pain concerns and doing everything they could to stabilize me. I have followed up with my doctors and am on a new medication regimen to help with the inflammation. I am finally feeling better. The medical team here, treated me with respect and dignity. Everyone was very professional and kind. I am grateful to the medical team that took care of me that day. Thank you to Dr. Tsai and the nurses that all worked collaboratively, to get me feeling better.

I'm one of those people who tries to avoid going to the emergency room unless I think I'm about to die. And that was indeed the situation. I showed up at about 6 AM and I was one of two people there. So I was able to get processed and brought in very quickly. I was very impressed by the security people in the triage process as well as how they nurses, doctor, and techs took care of me. When I left a few hours later, the emergency room was packed and very chaotic. One doesn't get to choose what time an emergency happens but in my case, I'm glad that it was at a time when things weren't very busy.

I now live in another part of california so i opted in for a virtual visit. (i have been in the ER 6 times this past year). I unexpectedly got called into work to take a trip to chicago. I wanted the appointment changed due to me working 24/7 while on these work trips, but if they absolutely could not change it, then i would take it from chicago, not an issue. The lady starts yelling at me over the phone telling me the call is recorded and that I am not allowed to take the call from chicago (while i reside in ca). I thought this was really unprofessional. She told me next availability is 4 months from today. She also told me they TRACK WHERE I AM DURING THESE VIDEO VISITS. I thought this was so inappropriate. Isn't this a VIOLATION of my privacy??? She then transferred me to my doctors office. My doctor told me she can see me on Thursday with no issues while I take the call before my work trip.

All of the staff were very friendly, kind, and attentive. They went out of their way to ensure we were cared for and received proper care. So why the one star off? Our son's splint was put on a little too tight which involved some discomfort and required us to go back a second time to have it readjusted. That situation wasn't ideal but thepediatric staff member met us at the entrance to immediately escort us in for re-treatment. I totally understand these things happen. If we ever need emergency services in the future, this is the place we'd go.

My young son has Down syndrome, is nonverbal, and experiences severe anxiety with medical procedures. Despite requesting a private room to help reduce his distress, we were required to remain in the main laboratory area for his blood draw. The procedure became increasingly traumatic as he cried, struggled, and became overwhelmed. After the blood draw, he removed his bandage due to sensory distress and began bleeding down his arm and onto the floor. While he was visibly upset and actively bleeding, assistance was not provided as quickly as it should have been. I expected greater compassion, appropriate accommodations for a child with developmental disabilities, and a more trauma-informed approach to pediatric care. Instead, the experience felt rushed, stressful, and unnecessarily traumatic for my child. I hope Kaiser reviews its procedures and staff training for working with pediatric patients and individuals with special needs.

Honestly, the only positive thing I can say about this location is the pharmacy. I've never had to…read morereally wait very long for anything and it is smaller and much closer to me because I live in Mountain View. I don't want to have to drive all the way into Santa Clara to pick up prescriptions. So the convenience of the pharmacy is the only good thing about this location for me. When it comes to their pediatrics and gynecological services, I was most disappointed and wound up switching to doctors for my daughter and myself, at the Santa Clara location. First of all because this is a small building, their examination rooms reflect this in that they are tiny and borderline claustrophobic. Another thing I was unimpressed with was the lack of updating and cleanliness. Everything seemed dated and a little rough around the edges, which is interesting. I was very unhappy with the final appointment I made for my baby at this location. Instead of taking her to an examination room to administer her shots, they literally brought us back into what appeared to be something like nurse quarters, and we sat at a desk. My daughter was propped up onto the desk and that's where they gave her, her shots. It was strange, uncomfortable, and confusing. It was a weird vibe to be honest. Especially because even though we are at the doctors office, this space did not seem clean enough to be administering shots. I had always been taken back to an examination room with my daughter, so this was just a weird experience overall. Moving on to my final gynecological appointment at this location..,right off the bat, I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by the nurse who brought me back to the examination room. She looked absolutely miserable. She hardly looked at me in the face and looked like she was angry/annoyed to be working. Almost like I was inconveniencing her by having an appointment. Most of us ladies aren't exactly thrilled to be going to the gynecologist either, but typically nurses tend to put you at a little bit more ease. And this nurse should probably find a different job if this is how she approaches patients. Now, even though my appointment was very thorough, my gynecologist discovered an ovarian cyst that needed to be monitored. The problem is while she voiced this information to me, she never entered this information or details from this appointment, into my records. So years later, when I continue to have issues with this cyst, I have had to explain to subsequent doctors that this ovarian cyst was discovered in 2023, and that my gynecologist at the time, never entered it into her notes. It's very inconvenient and unprofessional for that to have happened. So in the end, after weird and unprofessional interactions in pediatrics and gynecology, plus the fact that the exam rooms are tiny, I decided it was best to return to doctors at the Santa Clara location. Examination rooms are always small, but the ones at the Santa Clara location are definitely bigger and more accommodating.

There are four stations for getting the vaccine, but at times two of the stations are vacant, as the employees are out to lunch. People in wheelchairs or pushing four wheel walkers get to go to the head of the line, along with their handlers, without waiting. Next time, will have to check if I have any four wheeled walkers left used by my late parents.
