I don't write alot of reviews, but wow what an amazing experience at the ER. 1. My daughter was running late to her El Camino Health Pediatrician Appt. Called and informed them 20 min late. 2. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Front desk at El Camino Health Pediatrician at 555 Knowles turned us away. Explained my daughter had cough and wanted to check for asthma symptoms. Front desk lacked empathy and turned us away. We were late due to traffic but wow no options given.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 3. Took my daughter to Good Sam ER. Physician Dr. Dapar MD (5 Stars). Nurse Practitioner K. Greene PA (5 Stars). The X-Ray tech from Santa Cruz (5 Stars). [[HIGHLIGHT]]All had conversations with my daughter because as she told me "it was a scary experience for her." They made her feel comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The mobile X-ray was efficient, the radiologist's diagnosis was swift. My daughter was also born at this hospital. What an epic experience. It feels odd to write, but our family had a positive experience going to the ER. Our son had a sport injury and we were able to be treated literally just a few minutes after arriving. I was absolutely floored at the efficiency (I've been to ERs where the wait is hours). To be fair, we arrived on a Sunday afternoon so maybe things were a bit slower? [[HIGHLIGHT]]All of the staff were very friendly, kind, and attentive. They went out of their way to ensure we were cared for and received proper care[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. So why the one star off? Our son's splint was put on a little too tight which involved some discomfort and required us to go back a second time to have it readjusted. That situation wasn't ideal but thepediatric staff member met us at the entrance to immediately escort us in for re-treatment. I totally understand these things happen. If we ever need emergency services in the future, this is the place we'd go. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a really upsetting experience in the ER at Good Samaritan with my child's IV placement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One nurse attempted to place the line while my son was screaming in pain and continued pushing/trying despite how distressed he was. It felt rushed and careless. A different nurse came shortly after and was able to place a new line quickly, which made it even more frustrating that we had to go through the first attempt at all. My child ended up with significant bruising at the site afterward. I understand ERs are busy, but pediatric care requires patience and compassion. I'm posting this so other parents know to advocate strongly and ask for a different nurse if something doesn't feel right. read more

I have read a lot of bad reviews about Good Samaritan Hospital over the years, now I can not speak for those people that have had bad experiences here. That being said I myself have been to the ER. here 4 times! "once just 2 months ago" and I have also had medical procedures done here as well as multiple CT scans and MRI's, every single time my experience has been wonderful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have only had one experience where one staff member was... well... meh beyond that everyone and mean everyone has been friendly, personal, caring, and extremely helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really can't say enough good things about this Hospital, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the last time I came in was for an emergency, one of the nurses saw me and walked out to help me fill all my information out on the kiosk while I sat down in a chair because I was in severe pain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again I've probably been in this hospital over the years more than 20 times in every aspect that you can imagine from visiting to the ER. And in general, they have been stellar. I ca not say the same for El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos "unfortunately I've been there four times and all four times were bad experiences" bottom line when I need MRIs, CT scans or if it's an emergency, I come here or ask my doctor to book me a procedure at this location. read more

I had to stay at Good Samaritan Hospital for a whole month once. At least for my ward, the quality of care was phenomenal. The food is EXCELLENT. I was informed that the hospital had hired a Michelin star chef to design the menu, of course, in collaboration with nutritionists to ensure a nutrient dense meal. The nursing staff was nothing less than phenomenal. They were cheerful, patient and skilled. It was easy to make friends with them and I actually looked forward to their visits. I do know other patients have had lesser experiences so I guess I got lucky. The doctors were extremely qualified. I was assigned to a doctor who had two board certifications. My supervisor at work (he is Stanford facultiy in the School of Medicine) observed that such expertise is rare and said she must be a prodigy. My doctor was certainly so superior to my regular physician that you couldn't even compare the two. During my stay, my ward in Good Samaritan was ranked number two in quality of care with Stanford leading the way at number one. But certainly a Stanford faculty member who was a specialist in the field approved of Good Samaritian before he allowed me to be admitted. While you need to evaluate each hospital in the special department for your condition, don't exclude Good Samaritan because it's not Stanford or UCSF. read more

I just had major surgery. I had two belly hurnias repaired. They took the Gallbladder out, because it was not working. They removed 5cm of my bowal, because it was perforated. We had our first daughter about two years ago, and she spent five weeks in the NICU. From the very beginning, we were impressed by the professionalism and compassion of the doctors, nurses, and entire staff. They gave our daughter the care and attention she needed, while also keeping us informed and reassured every step of the way. Many of the nurses went above and beyond to make sure she was growing strong and healthy. Everyone--from the NICU receptionist to the social worker--treated us with kindness and respect. It made a difficult time a little easier knowing our daughter was in such capable hands. Now, as we write this, our second daughter is currently in the NICU. It's a deeply personal moment for us, and we feel incredibly grateful to have the same trusted team caring for her. Their expertise and dedication continue to give us peace of mind. We also had a positive experience when we had to bring our toddler to the emergency room due to an allergic reaction. I went to the ER thinking I my hight heart rate was a side effect of some medication I was taking, and it turned out I had dangerously low blood count so I was admitted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've never stayed at a hospital before so it was a little scary for me but the staff made me feel safe and cared for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their food was amazing!! No gross hospital food for sure, I was so impressed! I am only speaking about their 24hr emergency room. The process on getting admitted was pretty efficient and we were able to get seen in less than 30 min. I was admitted to a hospital where I was warmly welcomed and treated by courteous and caring staff. This included my brain surgeon, Dr. Blummenfeld, and PA Jessica, Alex, and Lilibeth from the Neuro ICU. They provided me with exceptional care, comfort, and support. Fe was also very supportive and caring. The evening shift nursing staff on the 3rd surgical floor, including Denis, Nagassi, and Karen, were fantastic as well. Despite the pain, I was able to get up and walk around the 3C Surgical unit. I greeted the nursing staff and made sure to ask for their names. On the day of my discharge, I had the opportunity to meet the day shift surgical staff and my morning nurse, Chris, who was sweet and kind. This hospital is haunted, I stayed in the antepartum and had an infection without a fever. The first night I had a nightmare and when I called the Charis prayer line and conveyed the nightmare they interpreted my dream as it for sure being the enemy. So I prayed with them and didn't have anymore nightmares, this nightmare was so extreme that I didn't even know I was sleeping. It was startling, and never had I had a nightmare that bad. The last day I was there I kept trying to get some sleep and every time I would close my eyes I would hear the curtain move, but when I looked the curtain didn't move. About two days later I gave birth and when left in the room by myself the curtain moved in a way like someone walked through and it was in the shape of someone but no one was there. I really think this hospital needs to be blessed and possibly the hospital itself needs an exorcism. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't think we can blame people attitudes and actions that are working there on them, but instead the enemy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If anyone was treated not well there remember these people are just people and don't know what they are doing, once we are gone their power is over, but I really do think there is a spiritual warfare going on in that hospital and you can see it in the people. I won't not go into detail about my ordeal but know that God will hold every word against us in judgement day whether you believe in him or not , your tongue will profess that He is lord. Jesus will have the last word and we all have to ask ourselves does Jesus know us? Because in the end that's how you get in heaven. Dr. Nidhi Jacob- You owe us an apology! At 35 weeks, we were told our baby had no heartbeat. My wife was in active labor with pre-eclampsia, yet the on-call OB -- Dr. Nidhi Jacob -- said: "Do you want to go home and think about it?" For anyone wondering: it is not safe or legal to suggest a patient in this condition leave the hospital. Under U.S. law (EMTALA), hospitals must stabilize anyone in active labor, and national OB guidelines require immediate delivery once stillbirth is confirmed. Sending her home could have caused seizures, hemorrhage, or even death. Instead of providing care, Dr. Nidhi Jacob walked away. During check-in, my wife -- in pain -- was left to fill out paperwork without even being offered a chair or water. Our baby died. Their lives as doctors and front desk admin/nurses go on, but ours are shattered. This experience left us with PTSD, depression, and anxiety on top of unimaginable loss. read more

This is review for girl who went to Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency, 2425 Samaritan Dr. San Jose, CA. by ambulance in October 2021 a couple of weeks after she received J&J Covid-19 Vaccination. An ambulence was called because she fainted and recovered, then fainted again several times. Her Good Sam ER Admission sheet was just discovered from that date. Her problem was listed as 'Alcohol Intoxication'. She later told me later Dr asked her when she had vaccine, she told him she couldn't remember, Dr said 'then that's not it' Admission sheet says J&J COVID-19 Vaccine, Date Unknown. This entry does not tie her fainting spells to J&J COVID-19 Vaccination she recently had. Instead her fainting spells are tied to 'Alcohol Intoxication'. She might not have been able to remember her vaccination date because she had just fainted several times in the last couple hours. These were dead faints where she could have insured herself. Her fainting spells could actually be attributed to J&J COVID-19 adverse reaction where many blood clots are created in veins in lower legs they may block blood flow to upper body causing faintng when standing. Able to recover when lying down or sitting (TTS). It is hard to believe because she walked funny and fainted they thought she was drunk instead of recently having known problematic Covid-19 Vaccine with serious adverse and rare side effects. They should have looked the vaccination date up to see if it was within incubation timeframe of fainting spell. The date should have been available on government website. CDC Bulletins on COVID Vaccine problems should have been sent to ERs. People who had COVID Vaccines were advised to go to ER if had bad reaction to Vaccine. Many people were having vaccines at that time. EMTs from ambulance examined her thoroughly, took vitals, looked into her eyes, asked questions, were very close to her and never mentioned alcohol, or alcohol on her breath. She was not covered by Insurance at this time. She had no primary care physician. She chose quickest one-time J&J Covid Vaccine so she could enter the workforce faster. She fainted in the exam room waiting for doctor. She was found on the floor with a bloodied bruise on her head. She was admitted to ER and eventually Good Sam ICU where they found many blood clots in veins of legs and dissolved them. She had tough time in ICU with breathing and heart regulation problems. After discharge, Legs were very swollen, discolored and painful. Veins could have been damaged by so many blood clots at one time. This should have been reported to CDC to collect data on vaccine. J&J COVID-19 vaccine recalled 5 months later for this situation (TTS). She was back in Good Sam ER couple weeks later and admitted to ICU again. Even after blood clots found and repeated visits to Good Sam ER, initial Medical Reason 'Alcohol Intoxication' remained and Possible J&J COVID-19 Adverse reaction was never added even as her Medical prolems increased: Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism, Atrial Fibrillation with RVR, Arrhythmia, Hypercoagulable state, Thrombocytosis,Pleural Effusion, pulmonary infiltrate present on computed Tomography, Tachyarrhythmia. . Over the last 5 years she has been in and out of hospital emergency rooms with no diagnosis or idea what is wrong. Currently she cannot walk or stand possibly from damage to veins in legs. She reportedly suffers from Neuropathy in legs and POTS, Autoimmune disease causes you to faint when you stand. Her life was spared because of quick action calling ambulence and getting her to Emergency Room, but she continues to suffer Adverse reactions from J&J Covid-19 Vaccine which was not identified in first Good Sam Emergency visits. Future doctors who treated her did not make connection to J&J COVID-19 Adverse reaction even as more was learned about it. She deserved better. read more

I can write a book about GSH. Quality of doctor care has seriously declined. Doctor and nurse care in emergency are awesome. Nurse care in patient room is A quality.. The problem is too many patients, not enough beds, lazy and uncaring/arrogant doctors. The hospital is busting at the seams. A bigger issue is Santa Clara valley have switched medical facilities like O'Connor, Regional, etc to county hospitals. What the he'll is wrong with silicon valley? We don't have enough hospitals to serve the public. However, there is a plethora of county hospitals to serve the community. The few hospital we have in bay area are over crowded, which affects medical care to private medical patients. read more

I am writing to formally express my deep frustration and disappointment with the handling of my MRI billing and claim review process at Good Samaritan Hospital. What should have been a routine claim correction has turned into over 18 months of delays, misinformation, and significant emotional and financial stress, with still no resolution in sight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is a summary of my experience: 1. Initial MRI & Incorrect Claim I completed an MRI on 5/1/2024 and paid the discounted amount of $1,524.80 the next day. Despite paying in full, I later saw a declined claim for $20,132.00 and received an additional $2,080 bill from the hospital. After multiple three-way calls among my doctor, insurance, and the hospital, we discovered the issue was an incorrect additional diagnostic code attached to the order. Once removed, my insurance would be able to process the claim. 2. Repeated Attempts to Fix the Order [[HIGHLIGHT]]My doctor has now sent the corrected order at least five separate times (March, May, September, 11/7, and 11/19) to the contact information provided by their customer service: Fax: 408-559-2689 Fax: 833-695-1125 Fax: 833-727-0833 Email: mail@patientcustomerservice.com None of these attempts were successfully processed by the hospital[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Each time, I was told that the order had not been received and that the claim was already "correct," with no further action needed, which was not true.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 3. Incorrect Guidance & Additional Payment In March of this year, before leaving for a two-month international trip, I called to follow up on the claim status. I was advised: pay now and insurance will reimburse after the claim is fixed. Based on this guidance, I paid the full bill again on 3/7/2025. Despite doing this, the claim is still unresolved. 4. Extremely Inefficient and Unreliable Customer Service [[HIGHLIGHT]]Throughout this process, I have spent over 20 hours on calls--often once a month--trying to get this issue addressed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The recurring problems include: - Frequent transfers to incorrect departments. - Representatives repeatedly saying they "cannot help." - No one taking ownership, even though the hospital made the original coding error. - A 30-business-day review process that produces no updates or progress. - No one cares once my account shows a $0 balance. 5. Key Issues Other Patients Should Be Aware Of - Do not pay your bill early, after your balance shows $0, your case becomes a low priority. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]The customer service structure lacks accountability and provides no clear escalation path.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fax numbers and emails provided by staff do not work, making it nearly impossible for doctors to submit corrected orders.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - The review process is extremely slow and ineffective, prolonging issues for months without resolution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After nearly two years, I am still dealing with the same unresolved issue, entirely due to the hospital's internal errors and inefficiency. The public hospital I went to when I got crap care here. Found I have pneumonia. And Good Sam didn't even come close to treating me right or checking to see if I have something so serious. Imagine you go to a private hospital ER (Good Sam) that is supposed to have good care & getting treated like crap. Having a doctor that only talks to you for 10 secs when you have been sick 6days to have to doctor Not even put a stethoscope to your chest to check it. No blood test, one chest x-ray. Given a cough medication script & them offering you a shot for pain.nI could have died from having pneumonia. Walking out & having to go to a 2nd ER sick as can be. Feeling like there's a boot pressing against your chest and you can't breathe. Thank God I got the proper care at O'Connor Medical Center. I could have got worse and worse and worse and worse because Good Sam's crap care in the ER. O'Connor did more chest X-rays, full blood panel, everything the crappy ER Dr didn't do at Good Sam. On January 18 (a busy Sunday), arriving on a referral from Carbon Health due to a divot with possibly exposed bone in my hand from a road bike crash, I was immediately seen by the ER physician Dr. Nee and staff. A technician patiently removed my wedding ring finger and later Dr. Nee put in four stitches to close the wound. It healed without any issues and no infection. If I could give zero stars, I would! When I brought my daughter to the ER, she had a dangerously high fever of almost 105, along with a sore throat, body aches, congestion, and a cough. Knowing she is a high-risk as she has an auto immune disease, I had already tested her at home for Covid, Flu A, and Flu B--all negative. Given her history of frequent strep infections, I urged the medical team to test her for strep. Dr. Gechlik ran some labs and returned with vague results, stating there was some "unknown" bacteria in her blood. He prescribed an antibiotic, and shortly after, the nurse arrived with discharge instructions, telling me the doctor diagnosed her with a urinary tract infection (UTI). Confused, I told the nurse that the doctor had never mentioned a UTI and that the symptoms didn't match. The nurse dismissed my concerns, saying, "Well, he prescribed antibiotics, so either way, it should be covered." That night, my daughter's condition worsened, and the next day, Good Sam Hospital called, instructing us to return immediately--her blood test had come back positive for strep, and she had developed sepsis. When we arrived, Dr. Gechlik met us and repeatedly said, "Nice to help you." He insisted that he had done everything right and was glad we had returned. Frustrated, I reminded him that he had initially diagnosed her with a UTI when I had suggested testing for strep from the beginning. His dismissive attitude was infuriating, and I had to request another doctor because I no longer wanted him involved in her care. The experience in the ER was awful. We were stuck in a bay from 5 PM to 3 AM. I had to repeatedly beg the nurse to administer IV fluids, and it still took hours for him to do so. The neglect continued throughout my daughter's hospitalization--I had to request IV fluids, respiratory therapy, and even basic vital checks, as no one monitored her overnight. When I tried to transfer her to Stanford for better care, the hospital and doctor resisted every step of the way. I'm not a doctor, and I shouldn't have been forced to direct her care. To make matters worse, after she was admitted, Dr. Roland Orque downplayed the seriousness of her sepsis, saying it was nothing to worry about--despite sepsis being life-threatening, especially for high-risk patients. I have never seen a hospital go down in quality of care as Good Sam Has. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Most of the nursing and care staff don't really speak English.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They fake it but not well. First let me say that 99% of the staff at this hospital has been above and beyond Fabulous. Accommodating in every way. Unfortunately it only takes that 1% to leave a lasting impression of unprofessionalism. My sister was diagnosed w a brain disease a couple of months ago and her brain surgery was scheduled for today. We are currently in the I.C.U. where she is recovering and If anyone has seen a loved one come out of brain surgery you can attest to how they are not fully 100% themselves...a lil loopy, a lil cranky...but to be expected by professionals I'm sure. We are at the end of this day and there is only 1 hour of visiting left, there is a nurse change happening and my sisters new nurse Zack has come on shift w a chip on his shoulder. I understand we all have our days so I step out of the room to thank him and let him know he is appreciated and I apologize for my sister being rude. He let me know that he did not deserve her attitude where I agreed and apologized again(even tho her attitude came from him slamming her porta potty down in front of her and saying so I hear you need to use the bathroom, which is how I knew he had a chip on his shoulder as this was his first experience w her) He continued to tell me that if she stays upset she will give herself a stroke where I let him know it is he who is the professional and it is he who should be deescalating this so she does not stroke in his care. He let me know he did not feel he needed to hear or have this conversation w me so... I share my family's experience with you. I still feel Zack may have just been having a bad night but at the end of the day whether it was a good, bad, happy, or sad kinda day, we especially rely on health care workers caring for our loved ones at theeir most vulnerable, to be kind, compassionate, and professional at a family's worst time. My wife and I had a negative experience having birth at the Good Samaritan Hospital. The coordination of care between the doctors wasn't great and that created negative health outcomes for both mother and child. The nurses also recorded things incorrectly and that caused issues down the line. However, we were impressed at outreach once we voiced our concerns to hospital staff. The CEO himself called me and let me know that he would make sure that our concerns would be passed to the appropriate staff. We also had a call with the director of women's services and manager of the mother and child unit which was more detailed. They were all thankful for the feedback and that improved our overall experience with the hospital. We shared this feedback with them with the intention of improving their services and so that other families can go through better experiences moving forward. I am confident that they have a growth mindset and will work on improving. read more

my father was recently hospitalized at Good Samaritan Hospital and it was horrible. The doctors would refuse to even talk to us and instead communicated through text messages with the nurse! The critical labs that were done prior discharge were suppose to be communicated with us the next day but no one called and when we called them 4 days later, they refused to release it to us and suggested we get it in the mail from medical records in 7 days when the results were critical. I have never seen such a hospital with so little regard for human life and lack of compassion. The one star is only for the nurse who at least acted like a human being. It doesn't deserve a score . Walked in at 09:30 , seen by an MD , who ordered meds after labs were drawn . 5 hrs. later, still no attention . Until MD followed up if the meds he ordered helped , he was surprised when he learned the meds were not given . read more

Good Sam was the closest hospital even though it was Out Of Network for my HMO, so that was where I was brought when I had severe pneumonia and was turning septic. My understanding was that I would be stabilized then moved although it was severe enough I actually thought I was not going to make it because nothing seemed to be working. I'm not sure why but they kept me there instead of stabilize/transfer like is usual. I overheard several of my doctors mutter "I don't know why I'm bothering with this one, I'm not getting paid". Disturbing and they indeed did not bother to see me during rounds, or if they did it was to stick their head in the door and say something like "You're still here" Then in swaggers the biggest prick of a surgeon accusing me of not having insurance and that I chose Good Sam for their "superior surgeons". I told him that I'd rather die than allow him to practice his butchery skills on me. Even though I clearly didn't consent he insisted on placing a chest tube and instead of making an incision, then positioning the tube - he stabbed me with it breaking a rib. I was in that hellhole for a month and I will *never* return. I work in the pharmaceutical industry and have made it clear to my managers that I refuse to set foot in this hospital. While the nurses and support staff are superb, the doctors.... uncaring, nasty pieces of work that shouldn't be allowed near other human beings. Bottom line go anywhere else. read more
