Available for weekly, free at-home delivery for Nashville and the greater surrounding area (even up to Brentwood, where I live, which is rare for me to find!) I've tried Dinner Belle catering for a few events but this past week was my first time actually trying the meal prep service! You order online, at their website, for the following week (orders are ready by Tuesday.) You have the option of getting a weekly subscription (vegetarian, vegan, and meat-forward options all available) or ordering a la carte and within those options can choose the quantity you need. I typically meal-prep myself but ordered a la carte for a week after I had guests in town, when I knew I'd be too tired to do much grocery shopping or cooking myself. I opted to pick up the food in store because I wanted to check out the actual space and what extras they had, but love the free delivery option. Directions for prep are extremely clear, and I loved how everything was portioned and packed for me to just put in my lunch bag for the next day. Since I did the pick up option, they texted me ahead of time when my order would be ready and the 28-ish hour window I had to pick it up - super easy!! I was really impressed by how healthy and dietary friendly the options were while having things that actually sounded tasty to eat. One of my gripes of meal services I've done in the past was overly small portions or things that just didn't end up being very appetizing. Dinner Belle really blows the others out of the water with fresh, local ingredients and some pretty incredible flavors in very generous portion sizes. I got 4 portions of a butternut squash and lentil soup that came with lime crema and dukkah spice blend toppings. When we heated up the soup, my family was genuinely impressed by how delicious, smoky, and filling the soup was. We got a couple more than 4 portions out of that soup, so a win all around!! I also opted for a buffalo chicken stuffed sweet potato that was perfect with a jar salad for lunch. I was a little sad I only ordered two portions of this - absolute flavor bomb and something that kept me full (but didn't feel heavy) until dinner. I love how the food here tastes clean & healthy - like something I'd make at home with no extra oils, additives, etc, but takes the work out of it for me. The sustainability aspect was a huge draw for my dad, who's griped about the wastefulness of paper/ plastic products for other meal services we've tried. He was grateful everything was packed nicely in mason jars that you wash and return to the shop (or have picked up if you do the delivery option). The shop is incredibly clean and bright; the staff so helpful on both visits. Easy parking out front. I picked up a power cookie and some snacky things when I dropped off my clean, empty jars. This will be my new go-to option when I need to take a break from cooking but still want the feeling of healthy home cooked food (that tastes good!) What an absolute hidden gem!

You can choose from an array of different meals, from individual items to family style dinners to bulk items. They've also got vegetarian, paleo, keto, low-carb meals for those following certain diets. You're able to order as many or as few as you want. You have the option to have your meals delivered to your door for a very reasonable fee, or you can choose to swing by their kitchens to pick up. I've done both, and I really like the delivery option because they give you text updates on when the driver is on the way, when your meals are delivered, and the meals are left in a cooler bag in case you aren't home. The meals: They come in meal prep containers (think Chinese takeout containers if you're unfamiliar). I think the portion sizes are great, especially compared to some competitors in the area. Enough for you to get reasonably full. In general, I've been pretty impressed with the taste of the food. There were maybe only 3 meals out of the thirty+ i've ordered that I would be hesistant to order again. Keep in mind, it's meal prepped food, and supposed to be relatively healthy for you, so don't expect it to be the best tasting meal you've ever had. But almost everything I've had has been flavorful and tasty. I als love that they've always got something new and exciting on the menu. The price: I generally purchase the individual meals, and these usually range anywhere from $8 to $12. I generally buy 2 meals a day for the work week, so i'm paying anywhere between $60 - $100 depending on what kind of meals I select. It gets to be pretty pricey, especially in comparison to some of the other meal prep companies out there. And that's really the only downside to ordering from them in my opinion. If they are going to keep their prices so high, I wish they would at least put out coupon codes/sales for their returning customers.

This was so much easier than buying a gift card for me and for them to receive. The meal comes with video notes and the whole experience felt it was more meaningful for me to give them during this hard time.

A few other potential customers were walking around the store and one finally said out loud what i was thinking, "how is it sustainable if it's wrapped in plastic?". The majority of what they available was not sustainably packaged, contrary to what the screen's mission statement said. A lot of products could have easily been packaged with paper or glass. I get it, it's an airport and you want snacks on the go but I argue there is lots of room for creativity that isn't plastic packaging. I could go to any other snack shop for the same thing. The screen talked about how everything was locally sourced, but it would have been lovely for at least one of the slides to do a spotlight on at least one farm, or any of the farms they source food from. Maybe even saying how they use their resources and turn them into products i see as a customer walking into an aisle. Does MEEL have personal relationships with these farms? Many brands say they are "locally sourced" when not. I looked at their website and it is great they have a producers page where there is breif info about each farm they partner with, but few additional links to support those farms. It is rough out there! It looks like MEEL hq is changing locations so they did not have products in stock online. Another concern is that there were not properly labeled plant based options in the store. I was surprised there weren't more options, or that MEEL itself wasn't entirely plant based, as animal agriculture is the #2 leading cause of climate breakdown. Are any of the farms they partner with regenerative farms? Does MEEL deliver with planet forward transportation in mind? No brand is going to be perfect, and I want to encourage MEEL because they clearly have passion for earth and health. But I also cannot let these things slide for a brand that is slapping "sustainable" to their marketing. If that is the goal, and you're working on it-- say that. The muffins are not very large and worth nowhere near $7. While they tasted good, they were a bit dry and not anything exceptional. Even if they were exceptional, it wouldn't have warranted a price of $7 in my opinion. See pic for size of muffins. I will not be returning to Miss Daisy's, strictly due to the astronomical (and what I believe to be unjust) pricing.
