Be aware that, considering these are smaller, home-grown vendors, some of their quantities are limited. You may want to arrive a bit earlier in the day if you have your eye on something in particular. If you're a local to the area, you will most likely see someone you know. In fact, one weekend, there were at least three families we recognized in the park! This makes your shopping experience that much more personal and pleasant, especially in pandemic times. Take a leisurely stroll through the different stalls, making small talk with strangers, sellers, and friends alike. That's my kind of Saturday. We ended up purchasing a beautiful blanket from The Nashville Blanket Project which gives a blanket to someone in need for each one purchased. It comes with an adorable "Keep Nashville Cozy" tote bag. My partner also purchased a (high premium) banana pudding in glassware that he devoured in a matter of minutes. (I'm not sure I recommend the double-digit price tag on that on, delicious as it was and vegn as it was.) All the stalls were dappled in sunlight, and the winter air felt more like a summer breeze. Sigh. I did wish I had stopped here first! Everyone was very friendly and there was anything and everything you could ask for at a Farmer's Market! This was much more of a "bustling market" and since it is on the grass, families were able to spread out blankets and could stay to enjoy the live music! I very much enjoyed walking through and browsing, but as I had already purchased what I needed from the other farmer's market, I did not purchase anything this time around. However, I did feel that the vendors at the other location were a bit more personable and were very generous with samples and talking about what they offer. This one lacked that slightly, but overall had more of what I needed.

They had a nice set up with some live music playing and a solid amount of tents. However, the produce was quite limited when I was here with only two tents offering fresh veggies and such. Bummer! They had a donut truck on site, but couldn't see any area to get coffee. Boo! However, I did enjoy the samples and left with some items, and was pleased overall. UNTIL I went to the other Farmer's Market on Charlotte. I have to give them a higher rating. Mostly because it lacked the produce variety and no coffee! However, I do support Spark of Life, so I'll have to stop back by on another day and see what kind of variety is offered. Available for weekly, free at-home delivery for Nashville and the greater surrounding area (even up to Brentwood, where I live, which is rare for me to find!) I've tried Dinner Belle catering for a few events but this past week was my first time actually trying the meal prep service! You order online, at their website, for the following week (orders are ready by Tuesday.) You have the option of getting a weekly subscription (vegetarian, vegan, and meat-forward options all available) or ordering a la carte and within those options can choose the quantity you need. I typically meal-prep myself but ordered a la carte for a week after I had guests in town, when I knew I'd be too tired to do much grocery shopping or cooking myself. I opted to pick up the food in store because I wanted to check out the actual space and what extras they had, but love the free delivery option. Directions for prep are extremely clear, and I loved how everything was portioned and packed for me to just put in my lunch bag for the next day. Since I did the pick up option, they texted me ahead of time when my order would be ready and the 28-ish hour window I had to pick it up - super easy!! I was really impressed by how healthy and dietary friendly the options were while having things that actually sounded tasty to eat. One of my gripes of meal services I've done in the past was overly small portions or things that just didn't end up being very appetizing. Dinner Belle really blows the others out of the water with fresh, local ingredients and some pretty incredible flavors in very generous portion sizes. I got 4 portions of a butternut squash and lentil soup that came with lime crema and dukkah spice blend toppings. When we heated up the soup, my family was genuinely impressed by how delicious, smoky, and filling the soup was. We got a couple more than 4 portions out of that soup, so a win all around!! I also opted for a buffalo chicken stuffed sweet potato that was perfect with a jar salad for lunch. I was a little sad I only ordered two portions of this - absolute flavor bomb and something that kept me full (but didn't feel heavy) until dinner. I love how the food here tastes clean & healthy - like something I'd make at home with no extra oils, additives, etc, but takes the work out of it for me. The sustainability aspect was a huge draw for my dad, who's griped about the wastefulness of paper/ plastic products for other meal services we've tried. He was grateful everything was packed nicely in mason jars that you wash and return to the shop (or have picked up if you do the delivery option). The shop is incredibly clean and bright; the staff so helpful on both visits. Easy parking out front. I picked up a power cookie and some snacky things when I dropped off my clean, empty jars. This will be my new go-to option when I need to take a break from cooking but still want the feeling of healthy home cooked food (that tastes good!) What an absolute hidden gem!

But I have dated enough white school teachers who "love ethnic food" to hear about this place roughly 86 times, so eventually I had to pull up and investigate. And of course i had to trust the gals the eat taco bell at 2 am post 12 shots. Let's start with the "chicken shawarma," which is ,with respect: about five miles away from an actual shawarma. This is not a shawarma. This is a chicken sandwich that identifies as shawarma. The chicken is okay but a little dry, the flavor is playing hide and seek, and by the time you get home the sandwich has the structural stability of wet cardboard. Also, the vegetables are cut like someone lost a bet and had to chop them blindfolded. Overall? Fine. Would I order it again? Probably not. But given Nashville's current shawarma economy, I understand why some folks are acting like they discovered Atlantis. Personally, I daydream about real shawarma the way people daydream about winning the lottery, or the way poets dream about lost love (in my case that one girl in 8th grade) I also tried the mixed plate (rice, lentil soup, and three meats: kabab, chicken, and beef tikka): Rice: solid. Honest work. Lentil soup: extremely shy. Needs seasoning, confidence, and maybe therapy. Also a bit oily. Chicken: dry enough to file paper work with. Beef tikka: actually pretty good, respect where respect is due. Kabab: could use more garlic, onion, and emotional support. Didn't see a health inspection score posted, and the place could definitely level up on the cleanliness side, nothing terrifying, just not sparkling either. The bald uncle behind the counter is a little dismissive and chaotic, but the man looks like he has personally witnessed several historical events, so I'm choosing compassion. They do carry a wide variety of Arabic groceries and halal raw meats (which I personally can't buy because I'm allergic, tragic and traumatic storyline), and honestly they should give discounts to school teachers because those are the main people marketing this place harder than the actual owners. Not terrible, not life changing. If this is your first shawarma, you'll be impressed. If you grew up eating shawarma, you'll drive home in silence thinking, "we as a society can do better." And also need to be more politically correct naming foods but alas.

I started using Katie's Plates about three weeks ago and I LOVE the food-- it is so so so good and FRESH! I can always find something that I want. The food is a little bit pricier than other meal services but you are getting fresh food delivered daily (or when you schedule it). I work as a med device sales rep so I definitely need some sort of meal prep. My only problem is that sometimes I get stuck at the hospital and don't leave a cooler bag out because I think I will be home to get it or I know the cooler bag I have will probably be warm by the time the food gets there. My only other complaint is that it is a day by day menu so if you want to plan meal prep for the week it can get tricky to get what you want. For example, sweet potatoes are made on monday this week and chicken is made on thursday. But I would love to just do grilled chicken and sweet potato for lunch all week. I want my parents to live long, healthy lives, full of energy... Well, after years of searching, I can FINALLY breathe a sigh of relief!!!
