I would do a 0, but unfortunately there is no option for that. The man (if you could even call him that) working there was lazy, ignorant, and quite frankly a total dick. Asked him for ear protection to which he slowly waddled and very rudely slapped them in my hand. Was very rude, I have shot here before, never been a problem before until today. They advertise they are the only place to shoot shotguns indoors. So I traveled 15 miles to do so. Yet they would not allow my pistol which holds shotgun shells. All the while a guy was alternating a 12 guage in the lane next to me. While not shooting the shot gun, he was sending hot brass through the big hole in the rubber blind between lane 2 and 3. The place is a mess. Needs drastic updating. Brass everywhere and no marshal or monitor to be found. In comparison to other indoor ranges Hot Shot fell far down the list. Prices were good, but should be less based on condition. Go elsewhere. read more

This is my "go-to" range... shoot here every week. Staff is helpful and watches carefully fir unsafe behavior. Markers at 10, 15 and 20 yards. Expectation is that you will police your own brass; there are brooms available for that purpose. They have "ears" (ear protection) and "eyes" (goggles) as part of the range fee which also includes on target. Have rented several of their guns just to try. A great way to figure out what you would like to shoot before you buy. They also do firearm training and concealed carry classes (including live fire). Individual classes are available. read more

Very clean and great ventilation so you go home clean and not smelling like gunpowder. Good target choices with most costing only a buck each. Bought a $200 twenty time pass from previous Hot Shots owners and I went many times without incident. Started going regularly with several (female) friends under the new management and then they started leaning on me to take their $600 trainer class. I told them I was not a "trainer" but they wrote me a letter to not bring other people to range anymore even though everyone comes with friends. I wrote them back saying I would comply. This was last year and went back for first time by myself today, I was signed in, etc but then they called police to have me thrown out 30-45 minutes into my range time. Conclusion, they don't like I would not take their class or they don't like I don't like what they perceive my race is. I was always respectful, and cleaned up range even when it wasn't mine so there is no other logical reason to throw away paying customers. Be Aware! read more

I am a daytona local. I love HOTSHOTS. I dont go to strickland outdoor range, why, because its hot and humid out. Hot shots is indoor airconditioned shooting, like shooting im your living room. CHASE and the other guys are always very helpful. If you have a complicated F.T.F. They are always there to help and FREE. I bought two revolvers from CHASE since he gave me 6 rounds FREE and let me shoot both revolvers FREE..i liked the ones i shot well with and purchased them. I wish all gun stores let you try firing before purchasing.. As far as the other reviewer from out of town. Yes, there is alot of brass on the ground but the broom and dustpan is right next to table and it is responsibility of shooters w semi autos to pick up their brass. My revolvers i always dump in pan hanging on range wall.alot of newbies w poor gun etiquette rapid fire and dump brass everywhere, the guys at HOTSHOTS have people to sign in take IDs, sell product, gunsmith, they cant play nanny. So i always sweep up even when i shoot my revolvers. It takes all of 2min. The ranges do need some maintenance a few get stuck bit you just hit restart button above you and that works 99% of the time. OK one thing i wish to change..HOT SHOTS NEEDS inventory inventory inventory..HERES A WAY TO SELL MORE GUNS... Sell the rental guns, all used guns that come in let people shoot them and offer them for sale. I know those glocks would sell, because i would buy at least two right now. I would buy more glocks, compacts women like (taurus p series,kahr,) and low end keltecs that you can try out same model you have on floor for sale. If your selling a new springfield, have a used one to shoot of same frame, then if you sell new one sell the rental at discounted price and buy another model and do the same. No shops locally have this advantage of try and buy.. I tried two revolvers and bought two. My girlfriend tried glocks and m&p smith and ended up buying m&p else where because hotshots didnt have one for sale just for rent. Although I never actually had a chance to go to this gun range, I do want to review it because I was looking for some specific info when I was searching for gun ranges and never found it. Hours: This place is open until 7 Monday-Thursday and I believe 8 on Friday. I can't remember Saturday or Sunday but this place impressed me because it seemed open later than most places Cost: Since this is only the second gun range I've ever stepped foot into, I don't know what is a good cost for a gun range, but I know this place was more than a place I went to in Winter Park (outside Orlando). It was $15 for a spot to shoot, and I believe it was $15 or some sort of thing like that in which you can trade a gun for another one at no extra cost. You also have to buy the ammo, and that could range anywhere from $10-$30 depending on the gauge. Guns: Why I am giving this place 4 stars is because this place has some AK-47s that you can shoot. Being from Canada this is a huge deal and I wish I would have had the chance to shoot a machine gun. The place I shot guns at didn't have any machine guns. Just so you know for all you first timers out there, you will need a gun licence (duh), which will run you about $10 I think, and if you're Canadian (like I am), then because you are an 'illegal alien' I believe there is another fee associated with this. read more

I've been in ranges all over the country, indoor and out, and this one is high on my list. No, it's not as well maintained as one might like (you need to fight with some of the lanes, resetting circuit breakers to keep your targets moving) and sometimes shooters aren't very good about cleaning up after themselves, but here's the thing. A range is made or unmade with it's people, and the folks there are simply awesome. If you're an unknown face at most ranges you can expect a details explanation of range rules, and generally standoffish attitude. Once operators get to know you, they seem to calm down a little, and after that, things can get downright friendly. Hotshot was about the same, less the standoffish parts. Everyone there was and continues to be extremely helpful and have an incredible sense for when they're needed. It's a family business, but they don't rub it in your face, remaining completely professional at pretty much all times, but this doesn't mean they don't like having fun. They really are great people and confident, responsible business folk. On Kids and Safety: I've always started my children on Gun Safety at between 10 and 12, depending on their maturity, but to be honest, I haven't frequented any range that I was comfortable taking my kids to. But I was comfortable enough with Hot Shot to bring my 10 year old in for his first shoot, and that's saying a lot. They talked to him before he hit the range, making sure he understood not only basic safety but his weapon, which he brought with him. What I found most remarkable was their sensitivity. They didn't scare him or freak him out. Their interactions with him weren't sanitary, nor were they too mechanical. It was a conversational exchange that took HIM into consideration. It was a busy day that day, and it took almost an hour for my boy to not jump every time someone fired, and probably another half an hour before he fired his first shot. His mother and I didn't push him, and neither did range management. It was an experience he looks back on fondly. My wife is new to pistols, and our last visit proved to be incredibly frustrating and nerve racking for her. It was Sunday (a.k.a. Shotgun Day) and things were a little louder than she was comfortable with. Sensing that my wife wasn't happy with her performance, the owner (and firearm instructor) came over. He worked with her for what had to be a half and hour, ultimately helping her resolve some issues I had no idea how to address. I said it then and I'll say it again here. Thank you for that guys! Some things you should know: a) Hot Shot is a zero stop range, so at no point will those on the line be asked to stop firing. b) Bring your ID. If you don't you're wasting a trip. c) You can shoot up to .44 on this range, and can fire shotguns on Sunday ONLY, and you must use special ammunition purchased directly from Hot Shot. d) They REALLY don't like rapid firing, so don't do it. Small bursts are okay, but if you're looking to empty a mag as quickly as possible, they probably don't want you there. Heck! I don't want you there! e) If you're renting a firearm, keep in mind that you must purchase ammo for use in that weapon from Hot Shot. This is a standard, so you shouldn't be surprised. Also note that the $15 rental fee covers your use of any gun available that is approved for use on the range. The only thing you'll have to pay for additionally is ammo if you're renting out different types. Any ammo you have left, you keep, of course. I highly recommend Hot Shot. It might be a little pricey when compared to other indoor ranges in say, GA, VA, or even NY or NJ, but it's a minor difference and completely worth it. The only other ranges in the area are outdoor, dumpy and can get a bit insane as folks seem to forget their range etiquette, and I'm a real stickler about NOT having a gun pointed at me. :-) read more

What better way to spend your honeymoon than shooting stuff and unloading a clip or two at some silly targets hanging from the ceiling? I'm not sure there is a better way. My cousin took us out to Hot Shot for a funtastic time since it was cloudy most of the time we spent in Daytona. I had said I wanted to go shoot some things, so we gathered up the guns and headed out to pop off a few rounds. The staff were friendly and professional and made sure that I knew exactly what to do, it being my first time and all. I picked out my own fancy blue target practice sheet and giggled at the ones of Bin Laden and other terrorist type people. They provided us with some protective gear if you didn't already have your own, and they also had pretty much every other gun type accessory you could want or need. They have four, maybe five lanes. They also pawn, have gun repair/cleaning, shooting instruction, gun rentals for the range and a concealed carry class. Just so ya know. I shot off a Desert Eagle and a Glock. Pretty good aim if you ask my husband. He knows not to mess with me now. I'm ready for my next lesson here at home in Texas... I'm sure it will be a blast, ha ha. That's a terrible pun. We got our Non Res Small Game Hunting License online from the Alaska Dept of Fish and Game. No issues. Shot 22 and 9 mm with my 16 yr old. My better half bought me a 9mm handgun and took me here so I could get comfortable with it. After getting to know the rules and having my questions answered by knowledgeable and friendly staff, we put our safety gear on and entered the stalls. I ended up shooting 75 rounds in under 30 minutes, I'd say I got comfortable with my gun very quickly lol! We bought a box of ammo that turned out to be cheaper here than at the gun exchange! We were very surprised! Overall, we were very pleased at how the company was managed and the overall cost of our trip. We will definitely be back soon! read more

I visited Hot Shot on Saturday at 11:00 am. Only two of 7 or 8 lanes in use when I arrived. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful looking at rentals. I had been "shopping" online and watching videos and wanted to make a dent in my list of handguns to try before I purchase a compact. I shot the Glock 26 and M&P Shield 9mm. They allow changing guns without additional rental charge. Electric target runners ran without a hitch and targets were well lit. Brass cleanup looked good - responsibility of shooter. My grandfather (3 year army veteran) and I, were looking forward to bonding a bit at the Hot Shot Indoor Shooting Range located at 1873 N Nova Rd, Holly Hill, FL. Instead, after we had already paid, and lined up getting ready to fire our first shot together, we got kicked out, and asked to leave. The reason was because of us about to use a previous range's plastic rounds, and not theirs. We were at first furious about not refunding the money, and about to leave because of the "all sales are final sign" (regardless of if they provide you a service or not) My grandfather kindly left the building while I tried to reason with them, but the argument no longer became about the money, one of the clerks had the audacity to call My grandfather and I, "disrespectful." The last thing a military veteran needs to hear is that he is disrespectful. On the grounds that he is not knowledgeable about weapons or the rounds we were about to fire. In an attempt to redeem themselves from the unkind remark, they gave us a credit (which we would never be able to use since we cant fire the weapon there) My grandfather wanted me to give up the credit to some youngsters about to walk in to the store, which is something you would expect from a kind veteran, so I gave them the credit. It was no longer about the money. He insisted I don't say anything to anyone about the matter, and to just let it go, but once they called him disrespectful, I think he deserves some justice. read more

My Mom has always feared guns for some strange reason, but a couple of days ago she took me to a shooting range since I am interested in a Military career. Before going here 2 days ago I had never shot a gun but always wanted to, the staff is very nice and are always there if you need help ( I'm not sure if that's for everyone since I have only been to this one, but I know some other businesses aren't like this ) I have been here 2 times and it isn't ridiculously expensive. It's $15 per person, $10 to rent a gun, and $10-$20 for bullets depending on quantity and caliber of course. I'm not completely sure on what guns you are allowed to rent from them but you can exchange guns for no extra cost. The shooting range is nothing too special it just seems like a regular shooting range. They have very diverse selection of targets. Ranging from Zombies, Zombie Osama Bin Laden, a man posing as a police officer, a mugger that looks suspiciously like P Diddy, bulls-eyes, and traditional targets. Overall I really enjoy this shooting range and I am not really willing to go and try others. If you are interested in shooting and have never tried or even if you have I sincerely recommend this shooting range. read more
