I've never had a better experience taping than I have with Jonathan. Every aspect of his service is top notch. As a coach, Jonathan is superb: intuitive, encouraging, and expert at identifying the moments where you're performing rather than living. He is superhumanly patient and truly dedicated to getting your best performance; he will work with you to draw out emotion where he sees it is lacking. Additionally, he has a lot of technical expertise and knows many tricks of the trade to make your audition "read" better on camera, information I found extremely valuable. Then you get the audition back, and it's GORGEOUS. The picture quality is filmic -- it feels like you're watching a mini-movie. He records your voice through a boom, so your performance is foregrounded (as opposed to when you record the sound through the camera and your reader ends up being the loudest voice on the recording!). He chooses your takes, and I trusted 100% that he knew which ones would be the best. Finally, Jonathan is extremely accommodating -- the last time I taped with him, I needed the audition ASAP. Jonathan went above and beyond to get me the audition when I needed it, getting in early to send me the audition before it was due, for which I will be FOREVER grateful. Jonathan was awesome! I booked a self taping last minute not really knowing his reputation- I just based how it would go on his awesome ratings and they weren't wrong! He immediately made me feel comfortable, which was really helpful considering I rushed straight after work really stressed out to get there. Johnathan was awesome! The room was very comfortable. I was in the L.A. for the week so I wasn't familiar with what taping services were in the area. I got an audition notice from my agent that needed to get done immediately, as always. I sent a message from the website and he responded really quickly. He really helped make things comfortable for me and gave me some good perspective on things that I hadn't thought about. A plus, he has a grey background which is the standard color for the CD's in my region (the southeast). He was also familiar with the special instructions and specification that some CD's in my region prefer. After I sent it off, I got feedback from my Agent that I did a great job, which was a first. Hired these guys for my kickstarter project because I liked Jon's work and he gave me a good deal on writing the treatment, renting equipment and hiring two crew members. I've never hired a film crew before so I didn't know what to expect and based on this experience I would never hire them again. After reaching our agreement, I paid Jon $1600 upfront and set a date and time and place for the shoot. The first date didn't happen because I couldn't nail down the location. After booking an alternate location for 8am the shoot time was changed to 11am which conflicted with another film crew so we were no longer able to film in that spot. Now I have to find a third location to film and since I had already paid for a crew, I was under the impression they would be available to film in the third location. But no, Jon canceled the shoot without telling me, then charged me $1100 to cover the cost of his camera man who took a different job (even though he was already paid to work on my film),he charged me for rental equipment - which he initially told me he had to go to the store to rent but then tells me it was his equipment that he rents out AND he charged me for some guy to FLY IN FROM DETROIT TO WORK ON MY FILM WHEN I LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD? WHAT KIND OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE?!!! His film is called "Misled" - and I have certainly been cheated and misled. read more

I so appreciated working with Jonathan and LOVED the tape I got. I have been to a few other places and was either disappointed in the sound, lighting or both. Jon uses a body mike which made for excellent, crystal clear sound. The lighting truly put me in my "best light." Jon is also a good actor which made my read even better. I received a msg from my daughter agency late afternoon around 5:27 pmto have her submit a self taping for audition. We are new in the area from washington, no camera only cellphone, and the timing is super stressful. I called the agency to sk what to do about self taping, they recommend to find a place to do it for my daughter in the area closer tonight so they can receive tomorrow morning before 10:45 am. I search on the web and see some clips and the location is very convenient to me, i called the number and boom!!!! lucky to have a spot due to cancel client around 6pm... i rush and went there, met Jonathan a very nice guy and very accommodating. I have no idea yet about whats in the email agency sent me but Jon and a beautiful lady there was very helpful with the sides. I am very happy that there is a place like Hot Shots that can help out with rush self taping.
