I walked into the Southlake Mall looking for an outfit tonight, I do not live in Indiana. Upon walking into the Hot Topic I was greeted by an employee while looking at tights/fishnets. I was still contemplating which fishnets to pick, and she came back not even 15 seconds later asking if I needed help. I said no thank you. After picking the pair I wanted, I turned around to look at the clothes behind me on the wall, and was just perusing. She then came back immediately and asked if I needed anything AGAIN or if I wanted anything off the wall. This was all under the span of like, two minutes. I said no and she left but I could see her kind of circling around where I was standing. Some other customers were helped here and there. I finally needed help getting something down. She got it and took my tights to the register while I tried on my skirt, didn't fit, I put it back. I went to look at shirts. I am helped by another lady who gets the shirt down, it is too big - doesn't fit. I see these two associates talking while glancing at me as I leave the dressing room looking for something else of my style before deciding to leave while only purchasing my tights. As I was last looking, they were both hovering around me. Was the idea that I was going to steal from the second I walked into the door? I had no big bag in me, I don't think I acted suspiciously, and this behavior started the second I started looking at items in the store. I hate to scream "could this be racism", but I am Black, and both associates were White. Also, Hot Topic's fashion has just fallen off. This place is ok. I don't seem to really like anything in here. I bring my daughter here because she loves the clothes. I seem to spend a lot and not get a lot for the price I am paying. The style of clothing and accessories in this store is very gothic like. My child doesn't dress dark or anything like that but she likes a lot of rock bands and in this store they carry a ton of rock band apparel. If your in to skulls and things like that, this is the place. I would not return because it is not my style but I will bring my daughter as long as she likes the stuff and its not too dark. read more

This store has some of the hard to find band t-shirts and some pretty cool kid's stuff (gaming, comics, TV, etc. interests). Their prices range from reasonable to high. They do have a lot of deals here (2fers or BOGO). Don't be turned away by the young adults that work there. Colored hair, piercings, tats, whatever....they have always been very nice and helpful. The store is cluttered and the music is usually pretty loud so if those things do not bother you, you will be fine. The people in the store are very helpful and it carries an array of items. When I was young there were only a few stores that carried concert / band T-shirts or what I used to call "heavy metal jewelry" I'm older but not one of those "get off my lawn" folks. Sure the items here are mass produced and wearing the stuff doesn't make you unique (as some people are arguing) but they have an array of items to make any fan happy. What I mean by that is through the items they carry- concert t-shirts, records, funky jewelry, Star Wars, Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Doctor Who etc. shirts, backpacks. Many accessories. I personally like the fact if a cool movie is out that my nephews like, I can easily get them a cool gift. I like going there to get jewelry for my piercing- they carry belly button, gauges, nose rings etc. nice selection and not that expensive. The store could be what people consider to be gothic/punk rock/metal head but there's only a few stores like this one, so if you are not into those kinds of things this place might not be for you. They also have times where items on clearance are buy one get one free, 50% off or have sales where you spend a dollar amount and get a decent coupon (hot cash) to get a deal later. I remember the days of my youth and being able to grab a t-shirt of a favorite band. I'm glad people have somewhere to go because the places I used to go (like The Alley, Chicago) are gone! read more

You must go here!!!!! Well, I suppose it's your own choice, but you should do it!! It's just unreal!! Like the coolest things imagiinable are in this store, and it's a tiny little(redundancy much, Bill?) store. Apparel and accessories galore, are in this store, of all the coolest bands and tv shows, and movies. They even have a few Vinyl Records for sale!!! They have real cool Punk blazers. Stickers, buttons, and patches. Posters and clothes of the coolest stuff ever. Just go there to see for yourself!!! Even folders and notebooks of things you wouldn't expect. Poser? Hipster? Like to dress up like a loser because you think it's cool? well then this is the spot for you! I hope you have $70 to spend on pants and I'm sure they'll have all the Nightmare Before Christmas apparel that all your friends are wearing. You too can be a "cool" loner with Hot Topic clothing and accessories! This place is a pretty sad cry for help for those struggling to look unique while still attempting to blend in with their peers. I've looked around the place and I really do appreciate a unique style of fashion but there is nothing unique about wearing mass produced overpriced pieces of fabric and buttons. read more

This store has some of the most interesting, and fun employees that I've ever encountered. They are super friendly, and always helping with whatever. The store owner,Kat, was fantastic and super knowledgable. I would definitely come back to this store just for The positive atmosphere. read more

The best customer service in the mall hands down! Everyone is so nice and friendly. They treat you like family and not just another customer. Whenever you need help, there's always someone there to assist you. They have everything from band stuff to nerdy stuff to fashion. It's basically a one stop shop. They're more than likely running a BOGO deal and everything is reasonably priced! read more
