For many years, I have occasionally shopped at this Macy's store in Westmoreland Mall. During my most recent visit, I shopped mostly in the women's section, and I thought that the store had a good selection. I saw designer brands such as Calvin Klein and also name brands. The store was having a holiday sale for Memorial Day weekend, and most merchandise was discounted. The only constructive feedback that I have is for checkout lines to have shorter wait times.

It has two floors: The first level contains men's clothing and shoes, and the second level contains women's clothing, shoes, and accessories and some home goods. During my recent visit, most of my walking was around the second level. As I browsed the merchandise, two employees said hello to me. I appreciated that they did not ignore me. I saw merchandise from brands and designers such as 7 for All Mankind, Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, and Mac Duggal. The store was having a 25%-off sale, so the final prices were fairly low. I picked out travel bags to buy. A cashier immediately rang up my purchase and thanked me.

Sometimes the clearance section has clothing that has a nice style and an acceptable price. During my most recent visit, the store had a sale of 30% off for certain full-priced styles, so an expensive sweater became moderately priced.

They even suggest coordinates in different parts of the store and accessories. They know their stock. They often compliment me on my selections. They don't pressure the customers. What can I say? As other reviewers have noted, the prices are higher than what some other stores charge, but the quality is high, and the store has a sale section that most people could afford. During my most recent visit, I browsed around the store for minutes, and then an employee asked me if I needed any assistance--while very obviously looking me up-down. Eek! My household income is in the top 1%, but I was wearing middle-class attire such as HOKA (which Anthropologie sells!) and The North Face. I think that her verbal communication was fine but that her nonverbal communication could improve. I saw a dress and shirt that I liked, but I did not buy them. This particular store in North Huntingdon also has a Sephora and an Amazon returns center. When I shopped in this store, I liked the selection of merchandise, and I thought that the prices were low, such as $13 for a tank top, to moderate, such as $30 for a tank top and $42 for a sundress. I picked out a pair of Calvin Klein underwear that were on clearance and two dog toys that were on sale. I used the self-checkout. With tax and after redeeming $10 of Kohl's Cash, I paid only $23 for the entire purchase. These three items were a very high quality, and I feel happy that I got a very good deal on them.

Signage in the store is often incorrect (sale prices listed for items that aren't on sale, items in the wrong place etc). There are price checkers throughout the store but those often aren't working either. Clothes seem to be haphazardly thrown together on racks. I want to be able to quickly find something in my size, not feel like I'm on a poorly mapped out treasure hunt. Prices seemed to have increased dramatically with a lower selection and lackluster service. They do occasionally have some good sales, but you really have to be diligent to see if what you think is on sale actually is on sale. It isn't the worst place to shop, but I wish they'd fix some of these issues and be more like it was before.

Everything was in its place with price tags and product info. All sales staff were on their game. Remember, this is a new store to the state, so no borrowing staff from a nearby store. And I was never left unattended in any department without someone offering to help with a smile. The only regret was that the grand piano, a staple of Von Maur stores, was not in play due to them opting for the DJ in its place. Never fear, the grand piano is present, though. An employee greeted me and told me about their sale. I decided to buy a shirt that was half-off for a total of $20. At the checkout counter, I had only a short wait for an employee to serve me. No tissue paper wrapped around my clothes, no asking if I wanted the hangers although she had handed a bunch to previous customer, no asking if I wanted the receipt to hold or in the bag. I am clean, neatly dressed, and actually fit the profile of a typical Ann Taylors customer so I can't see why she acted so nonprofessionally. If you want personal treatment, try J.
