Suddenly, our hot water stopped and nothing came out from that side. The cold side worked, though. I called Hot Water Guys at 1:00 on Tuesday and was able to schedule for the next day. Sam arrived and got right to work. He did our annual maintenance and fixed our problem. Before leaving, he made sure that the water heater was connected and working properly on the controller app. It was a bit tricky and Sam had to return to the attic several times, but was patient in helping me with reconnecting the unit to our WiFi. Hot Water Guys installed our unit and we only have them work on it bc we trust their knowledgeable service technicians. We will continue to recommend them. read more

I have used these guys before. I reached out to them at 10pm via website form and asked them to call me in the morning. They called me at 7am. Scheduled a same day appointment for later in the afternoon. The technician, Sam, was running behind from his appointment before my service window but he kept me informed of his timing. As he was about to head to my house, he called me and we talked about the issue I was having. I told him the fault code and sent him a picture via text. He immediately knew what parts were going to be needed to fix the issue. He swung by the office to make sure he had the right parts before arriving at my house. My tankless water heater went out so I called the local "do it all" outfit (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) where I had a service contract. Not only did it take them over 24 hours to get to my house their quote was double what I expected to pay. I thanked the do it all company for their time and called Hot Water Guys around noon. I explained my situation to the lady who answered my call and asked if she could give me a rough estimate over the phone. She quickly provided an estimate that was 35% less than the do it all outfit. So naturally, I asked to get on their schedule for a complete quote. Wayne was able to get to my house about 2 hours later to look at the job and firm up the quote. His actual cost with some upgrades, was within 1% of the phone quote. You can imagine that I was pretty happy to see this so we booked it. The install crew came out 2 days later to put in the new unit. The installers were very courteous and took a little bit of time to educate me on some additional maintenance items for the heater plus run through a few install options for my house. The guys worked quickly and within a matter of about 3 hours had fully replaced the unit, installed new service valves, ran a new condensate drain line, new expansion tank framed out and fully supported, added a drain valve for the recirculation loop in my house, and connected an external controller. The install in my garage is a basically a work of art. My home has a hybrid manablock plus a circulation loop to the master bath. The circulation loop never worked with the old unit and three different plumbers (including the original installer) never could get it to work, even after calls to the manufacturer. The best part of the replacement, other than the fantastic price, is that The Hot Water Guys were able to get the circulation loop working with the new heater. Now I don't have to run water in the master bath for 3 minutes before the hot water arrives. I walk in the bathroom, press a button on the wall and within about 90 seconds both sinks and showers have hot water ready to go. No more wasted water. Overall I am a very happy customer and would recommend them to anyone needing a new water heater. Plus the logo is pretty cool too! read more

Hot Water Guys is perhaps the most professional service provider I've worked with as a homeowner, maybe ever. I am a retired professional engineer so know something about the providing of professional services. These folks nailed it. From the first person I communicated with, to the scheduler, to the service technician who diagnose the problem, to the estimator who came out to size up the job (which was ultimately approved and finalized by their master plumber), to the team of three guys who installed the new machine, everyone was cordial, responsive, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make sure all of my questions were answered. They worked together in a seamless way with no wasted motion and nothing fell through the cracks. They kept me informed at every step including giving me a heads up when someone was on the way out, always at the scheduled time, when that service person arrived, and when that person left. They never left me guessing or wondering about anything, they did the agreed work in a very professional manner, cut no corners, left things spotless, and charged me the agreed price, which I found to be a very reasonable price, especially considering all of the accumulated knowledge I benefited from by hiring then. I couldn't have asked for more. I have dealt with many plumbing companies over the years who profess to know about tankless water heaters. Mostly they don't. These folks are by far the most knowledgeable about the topic, the technology in general, and the manufacturers they represent in particular. NON RESPONSIVE! My hot water heater went out. It was under warranty and the manufacturer recommended this plumber. I called and explained the situation and had a case number from the manufacturer. The woman who answered, Carrie, wouldn't even set up appt without an authorization code. She wouldn't take the serial number the manufacturer gave me, repeatedly interrupting me. I offered to get the manufacturer on the line and she said that was my issue. RUDE. Found out from the manufacturer that an authorization code is given to the plumber once the plumber determines the damage and the manufacturer AUTHORIZES repairs - thus, an authorization code. The plumber came out and said the pictures the manufacturer needed he couldn't get unless he damaged the unit. I called the manufacturer - then called Carrie- another rude woman answered - and she said she didn't want to talk to the manufacturer - but he was on the line and said it was ok to damage the unit to get the pictures. She said the plumber would come back out either this afternoon or the next morning. She will call me back in 5 minutes. I called 6 hours later and was told he would have to come out in the morning. NON RESPONSIVE. I called at 8:30am the next morning for ETA and was told they weren't coming because they didn't want to work on the unit even though the manufacturer authorized it. NON COMMUNICATIVE. Why did I have to chase them? I called another authorized plumber, he came, got the pictures the manufacturer needed and fixed the unit. He said the answer HOT WATER GUYs gave me was a cop out because they probably didn't have the expertise. I could of lived with that answer. NOT HONEST? read more

When the technician arrived he could not answer my questions about the error codes on the unit I was having problems with, just wanted to sell me a new unit. I called Hot Water Guys and Sam came out and found I was having problems with the venting on and through the roof and he scheduled repairs for the following day. Problem fixed, and very reasonably charged. I also used them when my mothers tankless heater went out and Tom came out, looked at the unit and sold me a new unit well below market value. I won't ever use anyone else. It is nice that all their employees are very professional and only sell and service tankless water heaters. Sam came out to help repair my hot water heater today after it would only stay hot for 10 mins and only go up to a lukewarm temp. Sam was on time, professional, and efficient with his visit. He was obviously very knowledgeable about my tankless water heater, and walked me through the possible problems. Sam also told me the different items I'll need reviewed in the future and at what frequency so that I could make sure everything continues to work smoothly. When the guy showed up he said it was gonna be $5000 and a smaller unit than what I wanted. On top of that he said there was going be disclaimer because my gas meter wasn't big enough but that was the whole reason he said why he gave me the smaller unit which didn't make sense. I had called to schedule service and a likely replacement. Unfortunately due to an unforseen medical emergency I had to call and cancel twice over two days (due to the medical issues). I just called again to reschedule now that my health situation is stable and they told me that it was policy to charge me for $25 dollars because I had cancelled last week. I even explained my health situation (very private information) and she said "I am really sorry but it is company policy." Lack of compassion and humanity changed my mind about even trying to work with this company. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere. read more

Outstanding! Dealing with repairs is tough and I dread it. Finding a good company, talking to receptionists, trying to get information, waiting for guy who may or may not show up, shows up later.....so when I set out to get my tankless hot water heater cleaned...I geared up for battle. I LOVE the Hot Water Guys! Why? Because they made my task easy, did a great, great, great job and at a great price. 1. Lauren, in their office, took my call and SHE KNEW what I was talking about. She requested I send her a photo of the tank and then she could give me more specifics...and I sent her the photo and she IMMEDIATELY called me back and YES she knew the answers to my questions. I had called several companies and one company had the owner answer and he told me he didn't know if they worked on Takagi water heaters, he would have to ask his plumber and call me back. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The receptionist at Hot Water Guys knew so much I think she could do the job herself! 2. She explained my options and spoke in human words, not plumbish words that would confuse me. She recognized that the people we bought the tankless water heater from had not installed a release valve but she did not "bad mouth" them - just told me that was something we could install now or later if we ever wanted to and how to handle the tank without it. I admired her truthfulness as well as her professionalism. 3. The Hot Water Guys do Hot Water and they KNOW what they are doing! Brian was supposed to be at my house between 11 and 1 and at 12:36, he wasn't there. I began to worry ... and get smiffed...I called and Carrie (Lauren on the other line) and asked about arrival. She called Brian, found him in a hot attic at a commercial site and found he was tied up with solving a difficult problem. She called me back and apologized and then Brian called and apologized and once he had fixed their problem he came to my house quickly and fixed mine. He wasn't on time and I don't care. As long as he does a great job, which he did, and takes as much time on my problem as it needs so that I don't have a problem later --- I understand. Right price, Right product, Great Service Hot Water Guys replaced two 40 gallon tanks in my attic with one Rinnai RL75in for a 3 1/2 bath home. Between doing a ton of reading/research and getting three quotes, these are my conclusions: - Rinnai is the most dependable brand - Hot Water Guys' quote best fit my needs - My other quotes leaned toward larger or more complicated units. - Apples to apples, their quote was 10% below the closest quote. - In the end I spent about 20% less by taking their recommendation - The installation was neat and clean from start to finish. - The installers were nice, professional and thorough. Based on my reading and research, I would have over spent on a bigger or more complicated unit. In the end I chose to go with Tom's recommendation since they install these every day. After a couple weeks of use, I can say his recommendation fit our needs. read more

I cannot recommend these guys enough. I had 3 different plumbers come to my house to address my water heater issues, and none of them knew what was going on. One told me I would need to replace the heater for $1800. The next told me he fixed the problem and the pilot light went out again immediately. Hot Water Guys showed up and were amazing. They ordered all the parts I needed on warranty, and they showed up on my doorstep free of charge the next day. He replaced the parts and only charged me for his labor, which was extremely reasonable. The best part about this experience is that they actually showed up on time! I highly recommend these guys. We had them install an expensive unit. (almost $6k) We also paid additional for the kitchen sink to get hot quickly. After they left, we called and left a message because it was taking forever to get hot water in the kitchen. They never called back. When I followed up, they were very condescending and asked if I had reviewed the book of information they had left with me. Come to find out, I needed to download an app and call someone else to help. This became a time consuming ordeal to find out that the installer, Hot Water Guys, had not set up the "parameters". This involves going to the unit in the attic and removing the panel. I was unable to do that because the screws are so tight and will need further help to get started on "setting the parameters". They are the warranty service for AO Smith water heaters. My unit installed 5/30/20 began going out in September. After a big hassle with AO Smith, I was referred to Hot Water Guys. Seemingly nice people but they charged me $35 as I am "not in their service area"( 44 miles per mapquest). Pleasant tech shows up with a new gas valve under his arm and installs it saying" they go bad all of the time ". A couple weeks later, same problem, cold shower. They come back and change pilot assembly and charge another $35, even though they didn't fix it the first time. Well a couple of weeks go by and cold shower again. By this time I'm dealing with the service manager, Carrie. Nice lady that says she will get AO Smith to send a new main burner. That gets replaced (fortunately no $35 fee this time). Two weeks later, no hot water only this time heater won't relight. I call Carrie, she returns my call Telling me she's done and it's up to AO Smith. So I paid $70 for nothing and they leave me twisting in the breeze. Lowe's won't take it back without an RA number from AO Smith which isn't likley, so I guess I dump the $600 junker, buy another brand and never consider either company again.HOT WATER GUYS, nice people that charged me $70 for what turned out to be nothing. They are both 2.5 years old and still under manufacturer's warranty. We troubleshooted according to the owner's manuals and although we got the Pilot lit, it wouldn't stay lit. And after a few tries, the status on the gas valve would not even flash. We called 2 plumbers on Saturday, 1 did not call back. The other said that since they were under warranty, the manufacturer would send someone to address the issue. I called State first thing Monday morning and they told me that Labor would not be covered and I should call a plumber. 1 plumber called me back and said I would have to pay $250 each for each gas valve upfront, and that to replace them both would be $200. So he quoted me $850 before he even came to diagnose my problem. When I called State to confirm this, they told me that they would reimburse me up to $186 for each gas valve because that was the list price...so I would have been out $128 for the plumber's markup. The other plumber didn't bother to call back. I got Hot Water's number from the list of preferred service providers from State. I told them my water heater symptoms and they told me it was probably the gas valve and / or burner assembly. They told me not worry because once they diagnosed the problem, they had ALL THE PARTS IN THE TRUCK! So I would not have to pay upfront for any parts and I would not have to wait for parts to be shipped! They explained that they charged the $145 for the first hour, and $100 for each hour after that. I was concerned about how much time this would take and they asked the technician (Kurt) right there and he said 1.5 hrs ($195). I booked my appt, they were at my house in less than 2 hrs! They called ahead to let me know they would be early. The actual work took a bit longer than 2 hrs, but they still charged me the promised rate of $195. My water heaters are up and running and I am so thankful for great companies like Hot Water Guys read more

When the hot water was not working, I spoke to a representative from Stiebel Eltron who referred me to Hot Water Guys. Sam came out the same day and replaced the water filter but it did not solve the problem. After trouble shooting for a while, he then spoke to a representative from Stiebel Eltron and learned that the prior installer did not hook up the wiring properly. I had a defective Honeywell Gas Valve replaced by the Hot Water Guys under warranty from State Water Heaters on Oct 1. After the installation repair, my wife occasionally noticed the smell of the sulfur from the natural gas when she goes in the garage. On Oct 19 morning I was overwhelmed with the smell as I left for work. I did the soapy water test on all the connections around the water heater. The brass fitting that connects the pilot tubing to the Honeywell controller was loose. It took a 1/4 turn to tighten it. I contacted the Hot Water Guys asking for a partial refund. They have refunded the total cost of the service call and have made an adjustment to their employee roster. read more
