If you understand there really is no (as in ZERO) backup for rain and still love it, go ahead. Forget the rain. Tried to start ceremony 15 minutes early as bride and photographer wanted to get outside photos during pause in rain and were shut down. NO. Not happening. We managed a few photos post ceremony and skies opened. Observe cocktail tables in dance area during cocktail hour but no one from venue escorted or guided guests to that room so dining room was used. Not pleased. Saw two appetizers shrimp tossed on a plate and Costco-style spanikopita. I know I paid for the Platinum Package and son said he had a beef Wellington. Will take his word for it. Oh, asked for a Coke prior to ceremony and was told I can have lemonade or water. Okey dokey. No wine poured with dinner. Rolls served after salads finished. Father's meal served 12 minutes after others at the table. And cold. Father was also informed he wasn't on their schedule for speech and had to wait till they got around to pouring champagne. He informed representative that that was just not going to happen and adjust their time line. Quite honestly, fortunate my husband didn't totally lose his mind by then. Good thing I ordered dessert platters for all tables in addition to cake as our cake was cleared before we had a chance to eat it. There appeared to be a mas rush to clear so staff could get home and this was not yet 9.30pm. If on a budget, I see the charm. If it is sunny, perhaps different experience and perhaps they will learn to be more fluid and flexible with their timelines. Roof leaked as well. Left a cocktail table on already cozy dance floor. Cocktail table was there to collect the rain water so it wouldn't puddle on floor. You really couldn't make all this up. I do have a great florist recommendation, though. Management should be ashamed at how the evening progressed.

Consequently, we had stayed twice without realizing that the area was replete with beautiful lakes, rivers, and waterways. In other words, we had been to Inverness without really getting to know Inverness. The historic Lake House, built in the 1920s, sits on Lake Henderson; an expansive lake that meanders through the area. Your host and ours is Cathy Johnson, who serves as hostess, chef (breakfasts were excellent), and moderator of dialogue between a diverse group of guests. We became friends with Robert and Stefia who were visiting from Germany, Gert and Pastor Floyd who were visiting from Alaska, and couples from Michigan and Ohio. In this antique lodge with such a gracious hostess you can't help but become instant friends with the other guests. This is what a retreat truly should be. The property is great for walking around or sitting down in quiet meditation. There is a lookout where you can enjoy the view of the winding lake and, note, this is a great spot for weddings; a walkway leads down to the lake with large flower pots on each side, being a perfect setting for a bride's last walk as a single lady. The definition of a great retreat is good fellowship amidst the joy and wonder of nature. Often the blunt, brutal force of life leaves us weary and we risk becoming impressed with the Devil - the negative charge of the world - and we need a getaway The Lake House is that wonderful getaway and we'll be back soon.

I had some visitors that decided to stay in this unique place, and I decided to go with them when they checked in to check it out. It's less than a mile from my condo. Arriving- It's on the northbound side of US Route 27 with a large sign. Piece of cake to find. They are small cottages, yup I said cottages, and you get to park directly in front of yours which is incredibly convenient. Pro Tip- There is every kind of restaurant and/or bar, mostly within just a few minutes. Just check Yelp. Ambience- The cottages come in two flavors, Lakefront and Front. In addition to being on a private, very nice beach, the lakefront cottages have many more amenities. Check out their excellent website for details. Everything is up-to-date and spotless. There is a private beach and a nice doc with a gazebo at the end of it. Not a bad place to quaff a beverage and watch the sunset. The lakefront cottages have gas bbq grills ready for your use. Customer Service- My friends said it was spectacular! From check-in to daily housekeeping, everyone was friendly and efficient. Pricing- Like most lodgings the price varies by several factors. It's easy to play around on the website to figure it all out. As you might expect, the cottages on the lakefront cost the most. In general, expect to pay, often on the lower end of $1xx.00 per night which is a steal. Conclusion- If you need to stay in the area and looking for something other than the chains, this fine place will get the job done in style!

It was hot, so we had the window open the whole time there. 40 degrees outside, felt like 80 inside. It's perfectly located within a short walk of historic downtown with its boutique stores, restaurants and an amazing little wine bar. But back to the inn, Tom & Christi were very welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed. Our room was comfortable and quiet! They took great care in the remodeling of this old house to be sure guests wouldn't hear their neighbor. Each of the 3 rooms has it's own ensuite. Nice touches include: BIG flat screen tv, Kuerig coffee maker, bottles of water, and super soft fluffy towels. The bed was firm but comfortable, and pillows are NOT down (great for allergic people like myself). After a morning bike ride (we brought ours along) along the lake front we returned to a fresh hot breakfast of eggs (we picked scrambled but Tom will accommodate your preference), turkey sausage, toast, Tom's homemade hash, and fresh fruit. Juice, coffee, and a nice tea selection are available too. I really liked that they asked if we wanted this or that, didn't just put down a plate of food (when I made the reservation Christi made a point of asking if we had any food allergies or likes & dislikes). Note: this is the only B&B we've stayed at that had a toaster with Pop tarts available for guests to toast themselves! The house has undergone a complete remodel thanks to the Kapps.
