I also loved the location; there's a Waffle House right next door, a Burger King literally steps away (perfect for those late-night Hershey's Pie cravings ), and plenty of nearby stores like Target, Ross, and more. If you have a late flight, I recommend reaching out to the hotel ahead of time. They don't normally offer late-night check-in, but if you contact them, they can accommodate it. The staff was respectful and helpful, and since we were out exploring most of the time, we didn't run into any issues during our stay. We didn't really take advantage of the amenities, but on our last day I spent some time by the pool to relax and tan. It was quiet, peaceful, and I had the whole area to myself. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again in the future!

Breakfast options were decent, but there was almost never any fruit. Options included: 3 variations of cereal, oatmeal packets, waffles, danishes/donuts, bagels, hard boiled eggs (not fresh though), and yogurt. Cons: The place was not well maintained nor clean. I recognize Covid is causing staff shortages and possible other challenges. I arrived late to my room, and was disappointed to find hair in the sink, remnants of trash and soap in the shower, stained towels and bedding, hair and other debris on the couch, and a poorly vacuumed carpet. Complaints to front reception next morning were met with an offer for housekeeping. I returned later that night to find all my problem areas still untouched, except the hair in the sink. Staff offered another room, which immediately also appeared as if not vacuumed - I opted to stay in my room, so reception gracefully spot cleaned my areas of concern. I often opted to use the stairwell, and the carpets there remained filthy from my arrival to departure. The hallways had a distinctly musty odor. What made me most uncomfortable about the cleanliness, especially after direct and repeat complaints, was the fact that it was unlikely the room was actually "sterilized" between guests.

The weather was a little cooler the in evening so it was very nice to have access to the clean, heated pool to swim a few laps. Exercise room was great too. Easily more equipment that most hotel gyms. The breakfast was pretty typical of Hampton Inns. WE appreciated that the fresh fruit was fresh. They served scrambled eggs, ham and a variety of baked goods as well as cereals. The coffee was good and hot and they kept it full. The hotel was probably at capacity the night we stayed but as busy as they were all the staff was nice and the whole place was kept very clean. If I had one thing to note I wished were better, most of the nights there was only 1 bartender at the pool bar, and with our large conference and also probably other guests out there, it was hard to get service. But that guy was working amazingly so it wasn't him, he just couldn't be in multiple places at once! Was pleasantly surprised at how much of a hit the lay river was with us, but we had a blast! Lastly, the party that was put together by the staff was 10/10! Really do appreciate all the hardwork and how much fun we had! I stumbled on to the State Motel Thanksgiving weekend and I'm glad I did. The friendliest front desk staff gets you in your room fast and with a smile. The room is huge, yet warm and inviting. It comes with mini-fridge, micro and what might be the most comfortable beds in Florida. At a great rate I know I'll be back for many stays. In fact, I'd go out of my way to stay here. It's Great !
