Luxury. Beautiful rooms. Unmatched view. Delicious breakfast and great staff. Be prepared to walk! This is not in town, but up on the hill. It is certainly walkable several times per day, but it's not as close as you'd think. The resort feel outside of town is a small price to pay for the resort feel.

This hotel is beyond what my fiancée and I had imagined when we were booking a room. It offers the best view of the Sorrento Coast; except for maybe Capri. The atmosphere and scenery is breathtaking, so much that I even proposed on the balcony. We only spent 2 nights here and we left wanting more. The hotel itself is old and could use remodeling. That being said, they have a quality maintenance team that care for the hotel like a curator would for an art gallery. The cleaning staff are great too. We would come back to a clean room every time we left. The free breakfast is much better than most, with meats, cheeses, breads, sweets and much more. To top this all off the courtesy and demeanor of the entire staff was impeccable and they wanted to please us every moment of our stay. The city's main section is a short walk down a narrow road. It's much of what a resort town feels like without the nearby resort that brings in rude guests. This is also a great base to set off for tours of the Amalfi Coast and Capri. We're still touring Italy, but this will probably be the highlight of our vacation.

The view from my terrace was both of the water and the city. The restaurant offers a magnificent breakfast along with afternoon snacks that are more of full meals. The staff is excellent and the evening views of the city are spect

We just returned from a week in Italy including 3 nights at this great hotel built right into the cliffs in Sorrento. As such, the the views were out of this world from wherever you were in the hotel. All of the staff were great and so was the breakfast. We never went for dinner here and it didn't look like many other people did either - understandable when there were so many great restaurants nearby. Its definitely an older, retirement age crowd which also meant the bar scene wasn't great, especially after 10pm but its only 10 minutes into the town which was much more lively. Aside from the unbeatable views the rooms were also quite nice, a little basic and it was annoying that there were no toiletries provided, not even shampoo or shower gel which in my experience is unheard of these days! The Wi_Fi was also terrible but we soon learned this is a fault of Italy rather than any hotel in particular as it was the case everywhere. I do recommend this hotel and Sorrento in general as a base for an Amalfi Coast holiday, however we wished we had spent at least one night in Positano, Praiano, Amalfi or Ravello in order to enjoy the sunset which is blocked out by the cliffs in Sorrento. My other big tip: get a driver, don't rent a car - that way you can drink, enjoy the views, not worry about the (nightmare) parking in every town and be safe (the roads are insanely tight with lots of corners!).

We liked that the Belair was out of the hustle and bustle of downtown, but still close enough to walk. The views are amazing and the staff were very good. We were also impressed with the restaurant and the complimentary breakfast in the morning.

There are windows strategically placed throughout which allow you to take in the unmatched beauty of Sorrento. AMENITIES: The artwork throughout the hotel is beautiful and abundant. Everywhere you turn, there are lovely paintings and it's almost like a museum visit in itself just walking the halls. The hotel also has a gym, spa, jacuzzi, lounge, restaurant, pool, bar, kids area, table tennis, cigar bar, etc. It's massive and well-kept and so much fun to explore. Added bonus: We went for our baby moon and the bartender made me the best mocktail I've ever had. LOCATION: The location is walking distance and perfectly located near the Sorrento city center. We walked into town each day for food, tours, day trips via the pier and shopping. The shopping area is vibrant and diverse. Highly recommend a stop by Nino's chocolate shop where they will give you so many delicious samples. The location of the hotel was ideal for taking advantage of all the city has to offer. FOOD: Breakfast was tasty! The staff is attentive. Dinner was delicious, though expect to pay hotel prices. Bartender was exceptional. Loved our stay! We would highly recommend the Hotel Bristol and cannot wait to come back and stay here on our next trip to South Italy! Great staff, amazing views, a true gem!

The veranda restaurant seemed like the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. However... the experience was very disappointing. The waitstaff was very inattentive overall (awful service), the waitress was rude and our food arrived more than one hour after we were seated, which was 15 minutes later than our reservation. Late in the evening.. not even during peak dining hours. The food lacked flavor and was overall inferior. The prawns smelled and tasted as if they were not fresh. The pasta was thick and flavorless and not consistent with other wonderful food we had experienced thus far. Overall not happy. If it weren't for the beautiful atmosphere and view, there would be ZERO reason to eat here. Do as someone else suggested which was to enjoy the sunset with drinks here and eat somewhere else!

I could live on the restaurant veranda by the sea! Or the patio. Just exquisite with the canaopy of lemon leaves, the marble inlaid floors, the statues, white tables - all designed to not compete or distract from the view! As the name implies, it's so very serene. Definitely on the high end so if your budget can't afford a week, spend two nights here. That's what I did before meeting friends for the remainder of my time in Sorrento. Since the next four days were full of touring different towns on the Amalfi coast, a boat ride to Capri and the Blue Grotto, and Pompei, I joined them at a different hotel that was more affordable since we basically were just sleeping and showering there. But for my first two days in Sorrento when I wanted to just chill and take in the beauty of this magnificent part of Italy, I chose Hotel Bellevue Syrene and I already want to come back!

We arrived in Sorrento on a train from Naples on a rainy evening. The taxi drivers wanted £25 for a 1 mile ride so we decided to walk instead. It was a comfortable 25 minute walk (we took the long route) from the train station and we got to walk through the city center on our way. Unlike the previous reviewer, the walk to the city center is easy (maybe 15 minutes max) and beautiful. You get to see outstanding views of the ocean and the houses along the edge of the mountains. In addition, almost all the hotels in Sorrento are at least about the same walking distance (or more) from the city center. Busses are also available for those who prefer not to walk. The hotel provides a free breakfast every morning. Good continental spread but they went out of their way to have good gluten free options for my fiancée. The staff (front desk and wait staff) were always nice to us and always remembered our breakfast preferences. The best thing about this place are the views. Breathtaking, show stopping gorgeous. We loved waking up every morning to amazing views of the city and the ocean. We were lucky to get an ocean view room but I recommend asking for one when you make a reservation. The only negative was that the tour of Capri we booked through the hotel sucked a little. It was no way the fault of the hotel though. I recommend buying a commuter ferry ticket and seeing Capri on your own. Awesome hotel. Amazing location. Wonderful staff. Cannot he beat.

I had arrived before check-in time so I had some time to explore the property before seeing my room. The garden area outside is very nice! I was told that the hotel would be closing for winter in a few days time and that is was slow. Since they did not have high occupancy, they upgraded me for free from a garden view to an ocean view. After 30 minutes or so the room was ready and I was escorted to see the room. It was quite impressive as there was the room itself but had a "sitting room" next it is so it was basically a suite. There was a door to the balcony that had a table for two and an ocean view. We were provided with a complimentary bottle of wine and a Panettone loaf. The room was nice an had everything except for a coffee maker. There was no hot water pitcher either. The bathroom had a toilet where the seat was not aligned to the toilet which is scary for a man as a pinched ball sack would not be good. This property is right next to Piazza Tasso which is the main square and is surrounded by restaurants and shops. There is a bar onsite as well as a Michelin starred restaurant called Terrazza Bosquet. The restaurant was good and the staff were amazing, front desk, concierge, bell staff and restaurant staff. The room was small, with barely enough space for us to open both our suitcases, but that didn't bother me much. The first morning we woke up to the bathroom smelling so strongly of smoke that I had to hold my breath going in. This is a nonsmoking hotel so it was disappointing to experience. Also, during cleaning every day the staff would open the windows for some reason, which would 1) let in bugs and 2) make the room really hot when we returned. Not sure why they kept doing that. Breakfast offered coffee/tea, a couple of juices, scrambled eggs, a rotating daily frittata, cured meats, veggies, pizzas, and a huge table of sweet pastries. Not the most balanced as there wasn't much protein, and overall, quality wasn't the best. But I still appreciated getting my morning coffee and a bite to eat before heading out for the day. There was an incredible view from the breakfast balcony though- definitely worth enjoying the view of Mt Vesuvius and the coast line, and probably my favorite part of the hotel stay.
