We absolutely loved it here. We wanted to spoil ourselves and stay somewhere romantic with a lake view for our stay in Bellagio, Lake Como and this met all expectations. The lake is literally right in front of the hotel and it is breathtaking every single time you look at it. There were times we literally just started at it from the hotel. Easily the best hotel I've stayed at. The hotel itself is luxurious and the room was spacious and even had a balcony to enjoy the lake view. There's a pool with bar service and and infinity jacuzzi. All were amazing. And the restaurant at the hotel was delicious. We had the complimentary breakfast buffet and also had dinner there. Both were great. The dinner was special since the in house sommelier recommended a nice bottle and the dessert was also delicious (and I'm not a dessert guy). The hotel also has a very nice small gym with treadmills and weights. Location: just a few blocks from city center and the ferry. We also caught a boat ride which was close by. Staff: The staff is so amazing here. From Mario at Front Desk to Monica and Filippo at the restaurant, everyone was so attentive, warm, and genuinely wanted us to have a good time. We felt so loved. My biggest tip is to have a solid transportation plan. You can take the train to Lake Como but Bellagio is far from the station and there aren't a bunch of taxis available. There is a ferry which you can walk to from the train station but the day we went the ferry tickets machine was not working so we ended up asking the hotel to send a car which they graciously did!

Loved it. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful as was the restaurant staff. Food was excellent. Rooms was large with a well appointed kitchen and large comfy beds! We will return.

A modern luxury hotel perched in the hills overlooking the back side of the lake away from downtown Bellagio yet only a 15 minute walk to town. The hotel is of modest size and we were in a room with a beautiful lake view and a nice, private balcony up on the third floor. Much of this hotels appeal is its amazing view looking down to the other side of lake from the village proper (remember,Bellagio is situated on a small peninsula). If rated on looks and style alone, they would be 5 stars, however for me service, sleep quality, noise and comfort also are important factors at the dozens of hotels I visit during a typical year. Unfortunately they've got a few areas here that were less than 5 stars. Pros: -THE VIEW THE VIEW THE VIEW -amazing shower with jets coming at you from all directions (although tricky at first to figure out) -good-sized room with modern furnishings and pergo (fake) wood flooring. -nice pool (pool attendant on first day with grayish hair was not very service minded but much better younger guy was on duty on our second visit who did a great job) -beautiful setting for a restaurant on a Terrace above the pool-again, THE VIEW, and a nice menu when we had dinner (service was fine but not 5-star quality with seemingly a number of less experienced staff and one senior guy) -front desk staff very helpful in arranging activities (although Bellagio Water Limousine cruise she recommended was disappointing but recommendation for Bellagio Rent a Boat was highlight of our vacation) -fastest and most reliable WIFI we've found in the 5 luxury hotels we've visited during this 2 week trip Disappointments: -poor sleep quality-the bed had these super thin (maybe 4 inches) FLIMSY PILLOWS and I awoke with a sore neck (and bad attitude). Called on day two and got some slightly softer ones but still just ok. -POOR SOUND INSULATION given the caliber of this hotel-every door opening, footsteps in the hallway, even footsteps from the room above on the wooded floor could be EASILY HEARD in our expensive room on the third floor-luckily we none of the young families were residing nearby. Minor nits: -a bit of a walk to town, especially on a hot day and it's all uphill coming back as you'd expect -parking-good that they have it, bad that your car is in a locked and chained paddock-like car jail-and they encourage you to just walk to get around-best not to even bring a car Bottom line: 3-4 stars. They need to amp up the service component and fix sound quality and pillow to be 5 stars in my book.

Walk to town but removed from the hustle and bustle, heated swimming pool overlooking Lake Como, beautiful room and parking on site.

The staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating and our room was great (remodeled bathroom!). The rest of the property, however looked worn out and outdated. The grounds are beautiful and there is a private free self parking. There's an upstairs restaurant for breakfast with amazing view of the lake, as well as a restaurant downstairs for dinner. Personally, this was not my favorite stay in the Como area.

Have to agree with the previous post. NOT all rooms have been renovated as their website states…read more When we entered our room, it was dark, felt dingey, and smelled like cigarettes. We had already unpacked (and were only staying for two nights) so we didn't bother asking to be moved. The carpet all around the hotel seemed old, worn, and dirty. We had a stained chair, saw a hairpin on the floor, paint peeling in the bathroom, and filthy light switches (see pics). Cobwebs in a corner of the lobby. Nearly useless wifi. Can confirm the router is in the lobby. No body lotion (although that seemed a common theme at least in the places we stayed at in Italy & Great Britain). We had sooo many toiletries and towels in the bathroom it gave the impression that they either didn't want to bother servicing the room or felt like it would be convenient for us. But it made it seem like convenience store inventory. Agree on the mosquitos down by the sitting areas around the pool. If you stay away from the bushes, it's fine. We enjoyed the pool. And the breakfast. I mean it was fair, but a nice change from just having croissants day after day. Hey, it was complimentary. We had a better experience with staff including the bar tending staff. They were very accommodating and pleasant. Overall, the hotel did not meet our expectations. The view and location were nice, but will definitely NOT be returning.

Who: My wife and I (mid 30s) When: May 9-12, 2013…read moreWhy "4 Star" Rating: -Charming hotel; it's like stepping back in time as you climb the main marble staircase (no elevator; take note if you are carrying refrigerator size suitcases like we were). They also ask you to leave your key at the front desk (yes an actual key, no card here) each time you leave; but they won't yell at you if you forget, like I did :) -Friendly Family Staff; so pleasant, accommodating and hard working -Magnificent Room; stayed in the Red Room Suite, highly recommended. No balcony but four large windows (2 with full view of Lake; other 2 partial views) -Outdoor Terrace; very nice place to have breakfast or a Aperol Spritz -Delicious fruit filled croissants and various coffee options (espresso, latte, etc) -Free wifi (although a bit spotty in our room; but worked great in lobby and outside terrace) -Short walk (on some cobblestone and tight sidewalks) from Tremezzo port. Exit boat ramp and turn LEFT. Also, very short walk to other restaurants and a beautiful park on the lake. -Last but not least, excellent VALUE for such a great property with amazing views Ways Rating Could Have Improved: -Although croissants & coffe were delicious; the overall breakfast spread was so-so. There are no hot entrees so be prepared if you come looking for that. Mainly European spread, meats, cheeses, boiled eggs and fruits. -Hotel has beautiful balcony located on top of hotel. It is accessible via the steps but there is really nothing there. Some chairs or a table would make that a beautiful place to enjoy a glass of wine. -Boosting WiFi signal for the Red Room Suite. But not a big deal, vacation should be a time to unplug anyway -Just a suggestion here, but a shuttle service from the port would be a nice touch; as the walk with suitcases is a bit challenging. One particular example of their commitment to guests took place on a not exactly pool weather day. I had decided to take advantage of some sun by the pool as did another couple and I noticed the owner quickly, placing cushions on all the chairs making it look more inviting. Nice touch. Now this may happen at other hotels but it was really something to see the owner himself carrying out the task. Overall, VERY pleasant stay. It was so nice to take a break away from our normal habit of staying in the chain hotels (SPGs mainly) and stay somewhere where the owners have full investment in the property. They have worked very hard and are proud to have taken this property to its current 3-Star rating. I can see more stars in their future. Tremezzo, is a great central location on Lake Como and I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Villa Marie if you are choosing this town.

English review (Io non parlo Italiano)…read more We stayed at La Perla for the first leg of our honeymoon - the staff are extremely friendly, the lake view is fantastic and the rooms were decent, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is the usual continental fare, but the view from the balcony makes up for the lack of options :) Warning: walking, lots of walking! The walk to Tremezzo proper is quite a challenge both uphill and downhill (especially back up!). The shuttle only runs a couple of times a day in the morning and in the evening, so walking is the only option most of the time if you want to have a drink, or if you don't have a car. It's about 15 minutes downhill and at least 20 minutes uphill. Food in the hotel is what is referred to as a "snack bar" in Italy and is very basic pasta/panini - nothing very inspiring here, so unless you are taking it very easy you will want to go down to the town to eat. There is a pizzeria a little closer (less than halfway) - Pizzeria Balognett - and the pizza there is excellent, the best I had on our trip to be honest. In Tremezzo the one restaurant that sticks out in my mind is La Darsenna, though the little wine bar (Cantina Follie) was also very pleasant for an after dinner drink on their terrace - the Amarone is worth the extra couple of euro per glass :) Overall, I would recommend La Perla if you are looking for some good views, peace and quiet, and don't mind the walking. Be sure and have a car to get to and from there as well as giving you the extra freedom for trips elsewhere. Also, be sure to pop up to Menaggio and rent a boat (under 40 HP = no license required) - it's expensive but really worth a go for a couple of hours to see the lake properly.
