Added some more photos that didn't get uploaded in yelp. Here you go. We enjoyed this beautiful place.

This hotel is nicely situated within walking distance from the beach and we had an amazing stay. Staff was friendly and welcoming and the room was comfortable with tasteful decor. We were sad that the weather wasn't nice enough to enjoy the rooftop pool but we had a great breakfast at Goat Tree which is owned by the hotel owner. Highly recommend The Society winebar which is also one of their properties. We learned so much about wine and the history of the hotel from Justin. Cannot wait to return here for a fun summer getaway!

    - So for all the men out there here is a weekend getaway Idea for y'all - Take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from where ever you live Irvine, LA, Oxnard, MoorePark, San Diego, Etc get two business class seats for you and your honey bring a book and some entertainment on the way there - Way better then driving there on the 101 & the 405 This hotel is a 3 min walk from the Train Station and it is amazing how close everything is to this hotel and once we got in we had a great dinner at Santo Mezcal also a 2 min walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is incredible with the amazing tile work in the Lobby and even In The bathrooms. The theme of the hotel is very Modern Moroccan with accents of gold and luxury. It really sets the mood for a romantic getaway and the character of the hotel is amazing with its position within down town Santa Barbara. The rooftop pool and spa are also incredible because the views are spectacular, and when we went we felt like we had the place to our selves. All in all super cool experience lots of wine tasting and restaurants in the hotel and around the hotel and the pier is a 3 min walk. You really don't need a car to get around just get on the train get here then relax. Service was really great the front desk was awesome and made it easy to check in. Also you can grab the bikes and bike anywhere you want in the city which is super nice. Make sure to use the amenities when your there you pay for them ! lol Also Greta bike rides up the warf and next to the beach it's amazing. Everyone made everything super easy to stay there and have a great relaxing time with the wife. Plus you can get a little pre train ride wine for the ride home on the Amtrak.

Loved our one night stay the day before July 4th. Expensive up price for the busy weekend but booking with amex we were able to check in a little past noon and also got a complimentary room upgrade. The room and building feels lux and they have a nice bar, wine tasting room, brunch, and dinner restaurant as well as food and drinks available at the pool. I thought the bed was comfortable and liked the shampoo and conditioner and body lotion brand provided. They also r stocked with alcohol! Overall enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again next year.

I've stayed here twice. Make sure you book a room in the same building where the pool is. The hotel's location is very convenient. We had great time walking around the town, shopping, trying local restaurants. I believe blackbird was closed during our staycation but luckily we discovered so many other places to eat.

    Hotel room, best room.

Amazing getaway, the staff treated us great from the time we arrived to when we left. We only stayed a few days but they were super accommodating. The hotel is a quick walk to great food options and was very clean and relaxing. The gentleman at the front desk I forget his name but he has dreadlocks, he was great and made us feel at home. We'll definitely be back!

My friend and I recently stayed at Hotel Californian for a girls night/staycation and it was amazing! Every little detail is so glamorous and unique. The room was very spacious with a king bed, large L-shaped couch and desk space. The in-room bar has a lot of options and is reasonably priced. We took advantage of the robes and slippers that are provided for full relaxation mode. I loved that the entire shower was marble. We didn't get a chance to use the rooftop pool or bar but hope to come back again to use enjoy those as well. Centrally located in the Funk Zone, it's walking distance to many great restaurants, tasting rooms, bars and the beach!

Very expensive? Yes. Worth it? Probably. We stayed here for 3 days and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very clean, modern and the location is amazing, steps from the beach and funk zone with great restaurants and wine tasting options. They also offer complimentary EV car charging which is nice if you have an EV. The hotel is spread across three non adjacent buildings within a couple of blocks. We stayed in room 415 (Sevilla guest room) which was in the building with the spa and pool. The room was very quiet which was great as we were looking to relax on this trip. The gigantic TV also had streaming options so we were able to stream our favorite Netflix shows which was great. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and we took advantage of the complimentary bikes for a nice cruise on the beach strand. Shower water pressure was A+ as well and everything about the room exuded luxury and class. Only negative was that we had forgotten to pack advil and asked for a few packs at the front desk and were charged $5 for them which I was surprised as I assumed they would be complimentary since you are paying $800 a night to stay here. We also tried the hotel bar which had a nice selection of cocktails and a friendly bartender who gave us great recommendations for restaurants and bars in the area. If this place is in your budget it's worth it.

We had a wonderful two night stay at this hotel. The entire staff was kind, respectful and courteous. Valet promptly assisted with my vehicle as well as getting it charged at night. The rooms are spacious and clean. I would definitely come back. If you have the Amex Platinum card and you book through Amex you will be greeted at the lobby with all the info/perks such as: late check out, hotel credits, dining credits etc. I'm not sure if they do this for all guests but the note & macarons were a sweet touch.

This is a lovely luxury resort on state street within walking distance to the beach and pier and also to the other side of state street (college area). The open air lobby and lounge areas are lovely and beautifully decorated. And there are many areas to explore. The only reason for four stars is that the spaces are a bit disjointed. I had to walk across the street to enjoy the rooftop pool and brew pub restaurant. The fitness class was fun but also on another block from the main building. Also, when I picked up the car from valet it seemed someone adjusted both passenger and driver side seats which was very odd. Restaurants were also nice so check out the separate reviews. I would stay here again for location and ambience.

Was there for the 100th Fiesta Celebration. The 3 young ladies and 1 gentleman who were constantly there were extremely helpful when I had needs or questions. The room had a wonderful patio for morning coffee and evening wine and sunset before dinner. The staff at The Society, a wine bar attached to the hotel, was delightful and knowledgeable in their selections. Justin was terrific in his descriptions of the selections. The Goat Tree was a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch. Food was delicious. My only major problem the week stay was the spider bites I got on my second night. The ladies at the front desk were fantastic at getting ice packs for me anytime I requested. The last day of our stay they did suggest that it should be reported to security. So, at their suggestion I went ahead and asked them to send security to my room. Security came. Took photos and wrote down a report. My right arm,I am right handed, had been dealing with pain, heat and swelling since the bite, had been reported to 3 people at the front desk. After security took the report he said his supervisor would be reaching out to me the next day. That was 14 days ago.

Prime real estate location, walking distance to the wharf, beach, great restaurants, shops and bars, but not worth the $700+ on weekends! The hotel is pretty, and I do like the Moroccan/Turkish-inspired decor with a modern touch. The large slabs of marble, high ceiling and cleanliness gave our Granada King room a luxurious feel, not to mention the incredibly comfortable and plush, white bed! They boast about their views from the rooms, but our room overlooked the narrow courtyard, part of State St and directly across other rooms. The Granada King room has a bigger balcony than the Sevilla, but the view didn't really entice us to enjoy it. I wanted to treat fiancé for doing so much work fixing up the house lately, so I felt it was worth checking out though. They offer discounts for AAA and Visa holders as well. It seems like they are pretty good about following health guidelines to prevent spread of Covid-19. Masks are required and hand sanitizer everywhere. They have rooms in three different buildings. The roof top pool is across State street above Finney's and their restaurant, Goat Tree, is across the street from the main hotel. The pool itself is quite small, but they have a jacuzzi and plenty of lounge chairs to enjoy the view of the beach. The bar serves food as well. The Hotel Californian might be a nice place to have a retreat or business meeting as they have conference rooms too. I think I'll suggest it to my boss for our next retreat! :)

They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. If you check-out before 7:30 am (like we did) then you will leave your keys in the mailbox out front by their office.

It is not, however, somewhere I would personally recommend unless you are mainly looking for a place to crash. We booked a room over the phone the same day we arrived and were happy to receive a discount, which brought the total to just over $300 after fees. Having been away from Santa Barbara for many years, we were excited to have a restful and celebratory evening and trusted the internet's recommendation of this place. The service was nice enough when we arrived, but the lack of amenities and the quality of the bed and pillows were a real letdown. I wish I had called the other hotels nearby to ask about their rates before committing, but we were on a road trip and didn't have the patience. Our room was modern and clean, but it faced and was right above aneighboring parking lot, and that combined with the street noise, was not especially conducive to rest. The AC unit also made a remarkable amount of noise. It did not bother me too much, but for light sleepers it could be a challenge. The best parts were the exterior, which feels very Santa Barbara, the free parking, and the complimentary pastries at breakfast. That said, there are several inns and hotels around the same rate, or sometimes only $50-$80 more after fees and parking, that offer on-property bars, restaurants, pools, and amenities I had assumed were fairly standard at a $300-a-night inn or hotel, including things as simple as Q-tips and comfortable pillows, and bathroom doors which actually insulate your private moments from the rest of the room. We should have done more research beforehand and noticed that this place did not have a pool or any facilities beyond a vending machine. However, it appeared in online results alongside full-service hotels rather than motels, so I expected a little more. My primary complaint is the bed and pillows. The pillows were barely more than bags filled with an extremely lightweight, shapeless foam material, and the mattress sank so deeply that the bed felt more like a nice pull-out couch than a proper hotel bed. The pillows reminded me of what I bought at Target for $11 before moving into my college dorm room. Fine in a motel for $150/ night, disappointing for twice that. The free parking seems to be a major draw, and it is certainly convenient, but I would still encourage people to explore other options if they have an extra $50-$80 to spend and care about the quality of the room where they spend the night. With one exception, the nearest restaurants and bars are about a 10-15-minute walk away. State Street is at least a 12-minute, 0.6-mile walk, while many other inns and hotels in the area have bars and food on the property or immediately nearby. The beach is technically one block away, although this property is toward the far end of it rather than near the main activity. We ended up ubering from state street back to the hotel. I think that if you are traveling with children, do not need many hotel amenities, or are really just looking for somewhere clean and convenient to sleep, this is a perfectly fine spot. I also should have done more research beforehand, and I cannot blame the property for amenities it never claimed to offer. Still, I do think its surprisingly glowing online reputation creates expectations that the actual experience does not truly meet. In my opinion i would describe this place as a nice, well-kept two-star inn /motel, and if that is what you are looking for, it could be a lovely choice. Many other guests were happy and that is certainly worth something.

We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The room location was very quite, no noise issues. Plenty of room in the living room, bathroom and bedroom, a lot of charm. The rooms seem very clean and well equipped with a mini refrigerator Nespresso machine and robes. The only item missing oddly in the rooms are hotel luggage racks. We went up to the roof to see the pool, looked nice, it was empty due to the cooler weather temps in Santa Barbara during our stay. We did enjoy the "Wine Happy Hour" and the complementary Coffee station in the morning. There are ice machines on every floor and on the ice machine you can also get filter water for your water bottles. To note: it is a dog loving paradise at the hotel, dogs everywhere, big dogs little dogs, I love dogs so I had fun watching all of them. OK, so our only 2 criticisms are is the fee for parking per day $55... crazy! The second criticism is why can't the hotel spare space for a small gym? Kimpton hotels are very pet friendly and that always gets extra stars from me. They don't charge any pet fee or have size restrictions and if you ask them, they will provide food and water bowls for your stay. As someone who always travels with her dog, that adds a lot of value for me. This location even told me that, while I couldn't bring the dog to the restaurant on site, I could bring her to the nightly wine reception. I did not ever end up attending one but it's the thought that counts. The location was great. It was about a 15-minute walk to beach and we did walk to Stearns Wharf multiple times during our stay. It typically took us about 10 minutes to walk to one of the many restaurants in the area that we had decided to go to each time. There are lots of coffee shops, wine bars and places to eat within walking distance so we ended up leaving our car parked for most of our stay. I believe the valet parking was an additional $50 or $60 a night but you do get in and out privileges. We just found that we didn't need the car much to get around on our visit and in the time it takes to have somebody pull it out for you, you could have already walked halfway to your destination. The amenities are nice. They have a rooftop pool, fitness center and then their complimentary coffee, etc. I did not end up taking advantage of any of those because I travel with my dog, so I can't speak directly to the quality of any of them, but I know most people appreciate having extras like that. Our room was cute and comfortable and felt very cozy. It was honestly probably smaller than I expected for the price point, but it had everything that we needed and I was happy with my stay. If you need a pet friendly, walkable place to stay, and you aren't on a super tight budget, I would definitely recommend looking into this hotel.

The bed was very comfortable, the evening wine and cheese service was a nice touch, and the continental breakfast had a decent selection of pastries. There is a pretty courtyard in the front with comfortable outdoor furniture. Also, the room we had included a little kitchen with a stove and full fridge. CONS- Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The room had a damp, musty smell and the towels were rough and uncomfortable. The biggest issue was that the hotel was renovating the room directly next to ours. We endured CONSTANT construction noise and workers yelling throughout the day, and it continued well into the evening. My husband and I brought the issue to the attention of the front desk three separate times, both to daytime and evening attendants. Each time we were told, "I'll let the manager know." Unfortunately, we never heard from the manager, no one followed up with us, and nothing was done to address the situation. The noise continued for all the days we were here. We were not offered another room, an apology, or any form of compensation. Even a simple gesture, such as a complimentary bottle of wine, would have shown that the hotel cared about our experience, but nothing at all was offered. In fact we were told by the female evening attendant to "Contact your booking agency to complain". To make matters worse, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was the advertised back patio, but it was not accessible during our stay. If an advertised amenity is unavailable, guests should be informed before booking. If a hotel is undergoing renovations, guests should either be notified in advance or not placed directly next to active construction. Between the constant noise, the musty room, the unavailable amenity, and the complete lack of customer service and follow-through, this stay fell far below expectations. Truthfully, we would have stayed here again if the manager or staff showed any kind of care for the situation. I cannot recommend staying here.

Perfect anniversary stay -- peaceful, friendly, and right on the beach…read more We stayed at Santa Barbara Inn for our 25th anniversary and paid for the beachside view. It was absolutely worth it. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, and what really stood out was their text-based concierge system. They text you before arrival, and you can ask for anything during your stay -- they respond quickly and clearly. Honestly, that alone made the stay feel effortless. They even had the car ready before we got downstairs. It felt like having a pocket concierge. The view was fantastic, noise levels were low, and the beach is literally across the street, right at a crosswalk. We spent a lot of time on the balcony -- the room was large, the patio was generously sized, and we loved reading out there with the sounds of birds and seals in the background. Beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had great water pressure, and the jetted tub was basically a sauna -- a huge plus after walking all day. Free water bottles in the room were also appreciated. We ate at Convivo onsite -- it was fine, solid food, but a bit pedestrian flavor-wise. That said, there are so many excellent places to eat in Santa Barbara, and we walked to several without any trouble. Very walkable area for both beach time and dining. For car lovers: there's constant classic car and hot rod cruising along the beach, which was fun to watch from the balcony. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for the location, room size, and level of service. If you're looking for a peaceful, clean, friendly place that's perfect for couples or a special occasion, this is absolutely the place.

never giving this pretentious place a penny ever again…read more nothing like traveling for hours, finally getting to your destination, and having the rudest staff harass you, waiting for your bf to come out to the patio area. this hotel is the dead zone of phone service, so how am supposed to let my bf know i'm being kicked out of an empty patio area we agreed to meet at? i stand by the front door of the hotel entrance to wait, but no, once again asked to leave. guess after traveling for hours, my biggest concern should have been getting glam, so i can be allowed to stand by a entrance. this horrible service is as bad as the gap under our room door. nothing like wanting a good night's sleep, but all you hear is the banging and clanking at 6 am from the housekeeping staff. way too many cute, boutique places in sb to have to deal with this attitude and lack of hospitality.

Pros- beautiful view of East Beach, great activities this holiday weekend (sangria and s'mores in the lawn, 4th of July treats at the pool, etc.), rooms are a bit dated but nice accommodations nonetheless, plenty of parking, pickleball courts (must reserve), short walk to funk zone, nice pool Cons- pool orders have not been an issue in the past, but today 7/4/26 my order took over 40 minutes and nobody could tell me why my family who ordered after me had received their multiple orders and I had not. I had to ask multiple staff and finally speak to a supervisor. My drink was made promptly but that was it, no "I'm sorry", here's a free soda, no acknowledgement. I was disappointed with this customer service. I won't let this cloud my judgment of this place as our family enjoys coming here this weekend.

Pros: 1) Across the street from the beach…read more 2) Great views 3) This Hilton Hotel has a Spanish look to it, much like Santa Barbara. Cons: We went for a wedding. But only stayed one night for the wedding. The other nights that we stayed were at another hotel in Santa Barbara. This Hilton hotel I'm giving one star more than the other because it is a Hilton. 1) Completely out dated. It looks like it's something out of the 90s. They can at least buy new furniture. The carpets smell. Everything smells very musty and old. The front desk when you check in is very small. We actually walked right by it because we didn't even see it. It was that small. For such a big hotel you would think that they would have a bigger front desk for their guest to check in and out of. For this to be a Hilton, they need to spend more money on renovation. 2) We could only stay one night because of how expensive it was. We were expecting a lot more for the price. When we entered the room, the linens smelled, and again the carpet smelled very musty. We called the front desk. It took them forever to answer the phone and when they did, they had an attitude about changing the linens. It took two hours for them to come to our room to change out the linens thank God they did because the second set of linens did not smell. 3) The staff all over the hotel were completely rude and aggressive. It didn't matter what department they were in. If this was a rundown Motel 6, then that would be one thing, but it was a Hilton in Santa Barbara facing the ocean. 4) When it came time for the wedding it felt great. It felt organized. I'm not sure if that was the Hilton staff or not. but I know that the catering was the Hilton and that was not organized and that staff was horrible and aggressive. For instance, taking your food while you're still eating. And giving you attitude if you say that you're still eating your dinner. 5) When it came time to use the downstairs restroom my wife stated that the downstairs restroom was filthy, and there was paper towels all over the ground. 6) Which brings me to my next point, this Hilton Hotel felt very understaffed. I could keep going, but the point is that my wife and I do love the Hilton family hotels, but this place is not the best Hilton out there. We will not be back.

4.5/5 stars! Stayed for a quick weekend getaway at the start of summer and had a great time…read more Stayed in room 314 Pros: - GREAT location. Literally around the corner was State Street which is full of restaurants and ships. A nice 15 min walk to the pier - Room 314 had beautiful huge windows that overlooked the street - Staff are all very friendly and professional - Cute outdoor balcony/patio area on the 2nd floor, right off the elevator. Nice comfy outdoor couches, chairs, tables. Shaded and cool. It was a great spot for a quick afternoon drink, or if you need to do some work. We were the only ones there both times we went during the weekend - Lobby was small but very cute - Free bikes for rent (see picture)? DTSB is very bike friendly so it was a great way to get around - Valet used a text service (scan the QR code on your ticket to text the valet to bring your car around), so minimal wait time - Room had a really nice sized drink fridge. I was able to put in an entire pizza box - 2 sinks - Keurig coffee machine in room - Smart TV, I was able to sign into my streaming services - Lobby has a small bar that served coffee and continental brekkie for a fee - Relatively quiet on the 3rd floor. My room was right off the elevator and you could definitely hear some people walking to and from, but honestly pretty quiet. The ice machine was across the hall and that could be noisy but I only heard 1 person getting ice my entire stay Cons: - I can only speak for the room I booked 314, but the shower was a stall with the dreaded flappy shower curtain. If you're uncoordinated (like me) or big and tall, you will definitely feel the slap of that wet curtain on your body while showering - So the showerhead was actually leaking, spraying water above the showerhead onto the ceiling. It not worth my complaining or changing rooms, so I never said anything, but the last morning, before I checked out, it miraculously stopped spraying water. - If you're sensitive to city noises I suggest opting for a room that overlooks the hotels parking lot, away from the street. Our room faced the street right above corner on State Street and Haley, and even being on the 3rd floor, we definitely heard some night life noises - Expensive! This was on the pricey side but, due to location. I thought it was definitely worth it - The hotel is definitely older, but they worked hard to renovate it. It's not just a motel with a facelift - No pool, but the beach is just a 15 min walk away Tips: - Definitely sign up for the Hilton honors app, it'll make it easy to check in and you can pick your own room, get room key access, and check out, etc Would I come again? Yes

One morning there was only 1 person working breakfast and she could not handle working the floor, the second day I guess the breakfast staff called in sick, because they were closed. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes just down the block from the hotel. So, just don't go into the expectation that there is a restaurant at this hotel.
