Solid hotel to stay. We only stayed 1 night, so didn't get to experience it for very long, but…read moreenjoyed our time here. Our room was very spacious. Our previous hotel in Naples, as well as the one we stayed at in Sorrento, didn't have much floor space and we barely had space to open both our suitcases. We had to put at least one on the ground and step over it every time. So I really appreciated that I could walk around normally with both suitcases open. Hotel was clean overall, and location was nice. It was by the water so had a nice view. And there were a bunch of taxis parked next to it so when we had to take an early morning taxi to the airport, it arrived within a minute or so of the hotel "calling for a taxi" (which actually meant someone leaned out the door and waved one of them down). I'd stay here again.

Basic continental breakfast offerings at 20€ / person and 6€ cappuccino when the coffee shop right around the corner was much better and something like 7€ for 2 coffees AND pastries The temp in the rom only had a 4 degree range and it unfortunately was not the range we were seeking so could not get comfortable. And for a 4 star hotel. We would have expected to be able to adjust our own temperature The bathrooms were super cramped when there were both toilet and bidet. The door would not open all the way as it bumped against the toilet and we had to sandwich ourselves in between both to brush our teeth - with the added joy of the backs of our legs constantly bumping against either or both. Zero counter space. Nowhere to place towels for fear of it falling into either commode But given the location and the quiet room, we still have to rank this as A-OK

The bell staff will take your bags up the steps. I was issued a room on the seventh floor and was disappointed when I walked in the the A/C was off. You have to insert your key card in a slot to turn on the lights an A/C. This hotel location is walkable to many sights. The Galleria Umberto (Indoor shopping mall) and Piazza Plebiscito are within walking distance and there are many shops and eateries along the way. Hopefully you like warmed up pizza slices or cannoli's. The hotel has breakfast on their top floor with a great view to the gulf of Naples, Castel Nuovo and Mount Vesuvius. The breakfast buffet is OK and is only 20 euros. It has a waffle maker and a pancake machine. The hotel also has a bar in the front lobby and a restaurant, Obreak, that serves lunch and dinner. The front desk staff were helpful in answering questions and providing directions. The bell staff and car park attendants were also helpful. I was happy with the A/C after it was able to run for a while. Good location, good experience. Four stars!

I expected the hotel to just take away the 59,000 points I used to book this stay. Instead the hotel went ahead refunded the points and charged be almost $400 cash value for the room and refused to take the Marriott Bonvoy points. A scam. If you are a Marriott member and hold a Marriott credit card I would beware booking with this hotel. After attempting to resolve this matter with the hotel (Sabrina) via email she continued to refuse to take the points. They stated this is their policy to take cash value. Not your typical Marriott hotel. Awful customer service.

The hotel itself takes up the top floors of a building, with the jacuzzi on the very top floor. There is a metro station on the next block from the hotel which is very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel's decor is simple, chic and modern. The room was rather small as was the bathroom, but the jacuzzi shower unit was amazing (our room did not have a tub, we booked a deluxe double room). The toiletries were great but I wished they offered hair conditioner also. The room has a safe and WiFi, as well as a coffee maker and complimentary coffee. They provide robes and slippers. The curtains, when closed, kept the room pretty dark. In the evening, a complimentary dessert was left in the room for our enjoyment, a very nice touch indeed. The bed was comfortable enough, however because we had two beds put together to create one large bed (not our choice) there was an unevenness in the middle of the bed which was annoying. The breakfast, usually served on the rooftop unless it's raining, was rather basic but adequate providing fried and scrambled eggs, cold cuts and cheese, some cereals, bread, yogurt, pastries, fruits, as well as espresso drinks prepared to order. The highlight of the hotel was definitely the rooftop lounging area and jacuzzi. We made it a point to take advantage of this amenity every evening we stayed at this hotel and it was a great way to unwind and relax.

We arrived early and we knew our room would not be ready; we had already planned to explore the area while waiting for our room. They were attentive with holding our luggage and Roberta gave us a map and explained in great detail many options to explore in the area. Close to shops, restaurants, museums, and much to explore. Napoli is very characteristic. Narrow roads, historic buildings, many scooters coming out of nowhere... It was a great adventure for us. Hotel is well maintained throughout. Rooms were great. Breakfast in a beautiful courtyard. Room service was fast and efficient. Bar was attentive with a very nice lounge. Ambiance inside the hotel was pleasant throughout. I would love to visit again.

You can almost see horse-drawn carriages pulling up. The hotel has preserved the royal feel of the architecture while giving the inside a completely modern style. There is free internet on a computer on the main floor in a study across the corridor from the lobby, and the main courtyard is next to an indoor modern lounge with a bar for when it's just too hot to sit outside. The rooms are nice, and I really enjoyed just lounging around all the pretty areas near the courtyard, or looking out my window before bed at the courtyard view. The morning breakfast was good and served in the beautiful inner courtyard. As always in Italy, coffee is delicious and the baked goods were a sinful way to wake up. The reception staff was very helpful and polite and so so nice anytime I asked them for anything. They gave me a good map and advice for the best way to get to the best pizza in town:) Location wise, it's about a 12-15 minute walk from the Termini, and with very heavy baggage and tiny, bustling streets full of people and traffic, it can be a little taxing to walk up there in the blistering heat. You could take a taxi if you wanted, but if you have time and a map of the tiny streets, it's not far at all. It's also an easy 10 min walk to some of Napoli's famous pizzerias, including the one from Eat, Pray, Love, called Da Michele. Beware, it is a crazy walk through tiny streets filled with people intent on walking very slowly while they talk very loudly, and scooters coming out of nowhere from round the corner, or buckets being lowered from high windows to people ambling by. Haha but that's Napoli and if you brave it you, you will get to eat delicious pizza (or go wherever it is you're going). While I stayed, they did host a wedding in the courtyard, and because of the wedding there were some disgruntled guests who couldn't get a drink at the bar because there was no barman for for than half an hour. An enterprising American tourist went and got her own just as the barman got back haha and told him not to bother himself in a very efficient way as old ladies do.

One waitress in the restaurant was very friendly and super helpful. Walls are super thin. Literally could hear everything in all directions at all hours. This included any noise people in the surrounding rooms made, anything in the hallways, and any and all pipes in the walls. Our bed was 2 mattress put together and very springy. Could only assume they were old or cheap. The food for both the over expensive dinner and the breakfast were mediocre and looked and tasted as if it was heated up frozen dinners. The down stairs lounge with pool table and bar never seemed to have a bar tender in it. If you want to play billiards and drink you'd have to go upstairs to get your drink and go back down to play. Also one last side note, hotel summary advertised a view of Mt. Vesuvius. You can see it, but with a giant building smack dab in the middle of it.

However, upon arriving at the hotel, we realized that I had booked for the date after when we actually arrived. Nevertheless, the receptionist was very accommodating, and was easily able to get us in that night. The hotel was very clean, the elevator and electronics are all very new, and the staff very friendly. All the receptionists we talked to speak pretty good to very good English, and were helpful each time we needed it. One of the receptionists wore a "crossed keys" pin on his lapel, which I didn't catch at the time but now realize it is a reference to one of my favorite movies, "The Grand Budapest Hotel." The hotel itself is about 20 minutes away from the nearby ports, which my wife and I walked to regularly to go to Capri and also to meet our tour guide to go to Pompeii, and the hotel is about 1 minute from the subway which we never used. Shopping and restaurants are on the next major street, within walking distance. Overall it was pleasant to stay at Hotel Oriente, especially since my wife and I agreed that some of the Italian locals can be quite rude, but the hotel staff was very nice.
