This place had reasonably good rate compared to others so I booked it with fingers crossed. Very happy with this decision. The hotel is very modern and clean. We arrived very early in the morning but they held our bags for us and delivered them to the room before we got back mid-afternoon. There was cold lemon water in the lobby which was refreshing after walking in the hot weather. The tub was so deep! A bit scary getting in and out -- not good for anyone with mobility issues. Great for soaking! We only stayed a night and didn't try the buffet. Opted for light breakfast at the place a few doors north of the hotel. I had emailed the hotel before our arrival about a restaurant to go to for our anniversary and they responded quickly with a few, each with a paragraph explaining why they recommended it. A day or two before arrival, they asked if I needed anything else like flowers or any other special requests. We did try Casa Bonita across the canal and that was wonderful. Air conditioning was wonderful on the hot and humid day. We liked the quieter neighborhood and proximity to the boat stop. Local travel on the vaparetto and then the Alilaguna to the airport. At the time I was Starwood Platinum, and I booked a King room with a view of the canal. As we checked in - after the train ride from Milan, the long water Vaporetto ride, and the cold walk from the square - the staff was quite friendly as they informed us ... I had been upgraded to a suite with a terrace on the top floor! Right across the canal from the room was the Basilica, with the Lagoon behind it and Lido off in the distance. The furnature was pure classical period style and the terrace was larger than my next room in Munich. Unfortunately it was February so the Terrace was of little use and some of the hotel facilities were not open. But it was fabulous anyway. Now, my stay may not be typical, not everyone gets upgraded to a $2,500/night hotel room. The location is great - easy walking to just about any part of Venezia. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not sure about wifi and connectivity - when we were in the room we weren't surfing the internet.

When we arrived, we were shown to the room immediately after a brief introduction to the hotel and city. We were offered any advice we needed as well as access to concierge services gratis. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. It's very comfortable. The room decor was elegant and the bed was wonderful after a long trip. Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

The price range also reflect the diversities of the hotels, ranging from under $100 to $1,000+ per night. Well, for our first stay, we chose the Bauer I'll Palazzo, based on location and our affordability. We wanted a luxury hotel, in the heart of things. And I mean literally right there! The hotel is on the Grand Canal. There's a gondola station right in front. The main shopping avenue is right in front with all the high end boutiques within a 5 minute walk. Then St. Mark's Square is also within a 5 minute walk. We stayed in a Deluxe room with partial canal view. The room was decorated in traditional Venetian style with antique furniture and marble bathroom. Luxurious, decadent, comfortable and functional. Our room also included breakfast buffet and tea time (on rooftop terrace). Breakfast on the patio on the Grand Canal is the best way to start any day, and the buffet is excellent. But sipping a cup of cappuccino, looking at the Grand Canal is a memory I will always treasure. Tea time on the roof terrace is so relaxing, I have dozed off a few times to the sounds of the city. They serve a selection of sliced meats, cheeses and fruits with teas, coffees or soft drinks. The Concierge service was outstanding! They helped us get around, find places to eat, arranged transportation and even arrange for a tour to Murano! Wonderful place to stay, so much so that we cancelled the other 5 star hotel we booked for the end of our cruise and returned here!

We booked this hotel through a…read moreAAA travel agent. they have their own d ock so you can get dropped off right in front of the hotel if you take a taxi or private transfer from the airport. If you don't want to do that there is a vaporetto station right next to the hotel so it's easy to use the public transport. Upon arrival our room was upgraded and we had a room facing the Grand Canal (room 118)! There was champagne and snacks waiting in the room for us There is a giant bath tub with jets and they provide robes and slippers for you to wear! The hotel staff are all so sweet. The location is good and, you can easily walk to the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks basilica/Doges palace. Their breakfast that is included has many options. They also have free snacks in the evening(5p-8p) if you get a drink at the hotel bar. I would highly recommend this place!!
