I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The room is very clean and they use 100% cotton for all beddings. But the room is tiny. And they don't offer toothpaste and toothbrush. Great little boutique hotel in Aspen with a hot tub. The location is great and makes it so walkable to everything in town. Easy to get around. Continental breakfast could have more dietary friendly options, but having coffee right there was nice. Our room did not have A/C and we were there in the summer, so be aware that the downstairs has no A/C when making reservations. They graciously moved us upstairs for the last night since they had a cancelation, which was very kind. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful. read more

Aspen in the summertime is what's up. Sure, if you're into winter sports it's one of the best resort towns in Colorado. However, if you don't enjoy being cold/wet/up high/falling down, I highly suggest the warmer months for a visit. Why? #1 Even on the hottest day in Denver, it's significantly cooler in the mountains. With 100+ temps this past weekend in the city, Aspen was a breezy 78 degrees. #2 It's not nearly as crowded in the summer. Sure, there's tourists and locals milling about, but it's not a total sh*tshow walking around downtown. #3 Accommodations are affordable. Case and point is our stay at Hotel Durant, which was about $150 on a Saturday night. Located within walking distance of most of the Aspen bars/restaurants/nightlife, this was the perfect place to stay. It's not as posh as Hotel Jerome or Limelight, but it was cozy and plenty nice for a night in Aspen proper. Side note: there's a complimentary continental breakfast for guests in the a.m. Nice touch! It's closer to $300/night in the winter months, but that's likely due to the fact that it's SO CLOSE to the mountain lift. You can walk right over with your skis/snowboard within a few minutes. After a terrible racist experience at our Airbnb we decided to just stay in a hotel and Hotel Durant was available. The front desk lady was nice and serving! This boutique hotel was so cute! I love the modern nature feel to it. The water pressure in the shower is incredible! They do clean your room everyday if requested since we are currently in a pandemic. From our balcony view is the view of Aspen mountain! Every morning they have your continental breakfast of bagels, crosswinds, fruits, cereal and oatmeal available. We enjoyed our stay! read more

Had to get this hotel because we waited until last minute and I guess that's what we deserve. Had to haul all of our luggage up three flights of stairs. It is one of the less expensive hotels in Aspen at $220 a night, but they are being so cheap by not installing an elevator. At first we thought they probably wouldn't because they don't have the space, but they have two staircases, one on each side of the room halls where an elevator would definitely fit if you got rid of one of the staircases. Also, this place doesn't care about customers SAFETY. It was after 8PM when you need to enter a code at the front door in order to enter the building and I had left the code upstairs in my room. I called the after hours number posted at the front door and before I even finished my sentence trying to tell them I needed the code the woman just blabbed it to me. I asked her to repeat it because she talked over me and I could tell she was annoyed by her tone of speaking to me. Mind you it was 8:02PM, it's not like I called you hours after your shift ended and I'm sure you get paid to answer these calls. She didn't ask me what room or under what name my reservation was. I could've just been an intruder that you gave the code to because you don't have the intelligence to question the identity of who is calling.... that's just lazy and I know it is because you didn't even let me finish asking and were impatient in talking over me because you were in a rush to give the code. Also, please don't use decorative pillows to place on the bed during this COVID-19 pandemic. I'm an RN and these rarely get washed so that's very unhygienic and unsafe right now. The ones on my bed and on top of my pillows were like faux fur so that's hard to wash and thus I doubt they do get washed. read more

We walked in to someone speaking very loudly on the phone for quite some time until we were acknowledged. It felt like no staff worked here. During breakfast employees were talking to each other when we came down and there was no hello or customer service. At night no one is there to staff the place either! You use a code to get in.. we needed some toiletries and couldn't ask anyone. There is no air. When I asked about it they were annoyed. I wouldn't stay here again. Only plus was walking distance to town. It's a bare bones place. Felt like I was staying at someone's house and they were out of town . No luxury or hotel like experience at all. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute boutique hotel, even though we didn't get the king room we had reserved. The hotel is so well located, and everyone who works there was so nice and accommodating. They have a nice morning coffee and pastries. In the afternoon they put out wine and cheese. We especially enjoyed the hot tub. We are already planning a summer trip, the drive from Crested Butte to Aspen is so much easier in the summer. Look forward to returning. This was a nice place!!! It's an older, small hotel that they renovated about four years ago. They did a great job! Parking is limited but not a big problem. It's just a couple blocks from all the shops and restaurants downtown. So once you park, you can just leave the car there. The only minus was the bed linens could have been a bit cleaner. Great location and nicely updated and a friendly staff but the rooms were tiny, NY city tiny. The bathroom is so small you have to stand in the tub to close the door. I can't imagine how this room would function with ski gear for two people. No luxury here unless you like hard beds and sheets with a low thread count. I stayed at the Hotel Durant over Christmas Week 2013. The Hotel had just completed its renovation and redecorating. It was such a treat to stay in this lovely, convenient hotel. My room was clean and cozy "chic"...Wine & Cheese were served in the afternoons and a VERY generous continental breakfast was ready each morning. The bed linens are high end and the shower was wonderful. I loved the lobby area with the crackling fire and there was even a hot tub, which, I sadly did not have time to use. Every one who worked there was kind and helpful. It was a fantastic escape! I will definitely recommend as well as RETURN! Stayed here early August but feel like we paid winter season prices. For $250 it's not that nice. Our toilet seat broke one our one night stay and when we alerted the front desk, she didn't have a sense of urgency to fix it and it took a couple hours. We had room 111 which is right below the front desk/breakfast area so you hear rolling suitcases and everything. The room is small and just one small window so it wasn't a place we wanted to hang out and enjoy so we went to town instead. Again, for the price we paid we hoped we could enjoy the room a bit more. Breakfast offered was bagel, yogurt cereal and coffee. Plus side for the two stars instead of one is the bed sheets were very comfy as well as the bed and the location puts you right in town to walk. I rarely write reviews, but this is an exception. My now wife and I tried to book the Hotel Durant for our wedding and - after confirming ours and our friends' stay with the owner Brian Schaefer - we could not contact anyone at the hotel for nearly a month. We had told our friends to do the same, at the direction of Brian, and every one of them complained of the same irresponsiveness, inattentiveness, and subsequent unprofessionalism from the owner and booking staff. We showed up for our wedding weekend, realizing the owner had not heeded any of our requests, despite multiple phone calls and written communications. The rooms were small, the downstairs rooms were amazingly noisy - people walking overhead early in the morning - and the ineptness of the booking process was insult to injury. Brian called my wife repeatedly on our wedding day - apparently attempting to rectify the situation - only after our guests realized they weren't welcome - which was only due to the hotel's miscommunication. My wife and I aren't picky in the slightest, we only trusted the Hotel Durant with providing a space for us and our friends to enjoy our wedding weekend. They failed us miserably. read more

Fantastic find in Aspen! Small, boutique hotel-we got a room upgrade and it was fantastically comfortable with a large bathroom, closet area, and tight bedroom--but makes me wonder how small the standard room would have been! Perfect Aspen decor-really great concierge (thanks Andrea!!) willing to help with the thousand questions I had about the area. Free parking (is a plus in Aspen!), and the hotel is right on Durant Street, very near everything you want to walk to, and 2 short blocks from the bus depot. Not much of a view out our window, but I think others would be looking at the gorgeous mountain, lucky ducks! I loved staying at the Hotel Durant in Aspen for my 30th birthday. I came with family and they upgraded our rooms to balconies because we came during the low season. There is a terrific continental breakfast every morning with lots of healthy choices, and the location is perfect. I woke up every morning with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I felt right at home. I will definitely stay here again! read more

$200 gets you a hole in the basement with no a/c and lukewarm showers. "Continental" breakfast consisted of bagels, cereal, and crappy coffee. The only reason the hotel deserves 2 stars rather than one was the location and friendly staff. Save your money. read more

I unfortunately didn't have the wonderful experience everyone else did. We stayed here on a business trip; maybe that was the difference? Perhaps being in a vacation mind-set makes or breaks this place. I found the room incredibly small, and it took the AC several hours to cool the room (which made it difficult to sleep). I felt like I was sleeping in someone who doesn't like me very much's basement instead of spending the night in a hotel. Also, when booking, I asked for a King size bed and my business colleague didn't, and she got the "only King size bed in the whole hotel." We weren't able to check in even an hour early, and we were asked to uncover and re-cover the hot tub--which closes at 9pm--ourselves (which isn't a big deal, but I have little experience with this and was scared to drop/rip/break it lest I be charged for the expense). I know this place is more affordable than others in the area, but next time I'll attempt to have my company pay for somewhere a little more comfortable. read more

I really liked this nice little boutique hotel close to everything in downtown Aspen. Lower prices than some of the other hotels in the same area. European style, very minimal but in a good way. I felt like I was in Switzerland or Austria. Charming lobby with couches and fireplace. The room was small but cozy and comfortable, it had everything I needed. Small bathroom but large shower that I loved. The best part are the beds! Most comfortable, cozy bed I've ever been in! I wish I could have stayed longer just to enjoy the bed! The downside: no elevator, lugging 2 heavy bags up 3 flights of stairs was not fun. And no parking, street parking only which was hard to find, we had to park over a block away. read more

Worst hotel experience. The people were not welcoming. The rooms are very small. I asked for king bed and they gave a queen bed room in the corner. They should notify us what kind of room they ate booking before charging. They take all your money in advance. They provided only one key and even ask to return the key...phew!! read more

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Durant about a month ago (first week of March, 2014) for a ski vacation in Aspen. We were absolutely thrilled with the renovation of the hotel that just completed this past Nov/Dec. The hotel is stylish and cozy...it has a European feel to it...almost like a much more expensive boutique hotel for a lot less money. The rooms are lovely! The beds, comforters and linens are new and very comfortable. The water pressure is great in the shower...and welcome after a day of skiing. We stayed for a week and while the rooms are not extraordinarily large, they are more than adequate for the price. The owner and staff could not be nicer and more accomodating....they really made us feel welcome. The continental breakfast and afternoon cookies, wine and cheese are really a nice touch...and the coffee was great! The lobby is very pretty and a nice social gathering place in front of the fireplace. We love Colorado in the summertime, too, and are looking forward to staying at our new favorite, affordable, and lovely hotel in Aspen. read more
