A night out in Rome and a receptionist named Megan.
Coming back to Hotel Massimo D'Azeglio after a great dinner by the Spanish steps, we realized that our envelope with our combined Euros was missing. Distraught, we approached the front desk and requested Megan's assistance. We neither knew the name of the restaurant nor the street where it was located. All we had was a photo by the corner of the restaurant. The name was not visible. Megan painstakingly researched where we could possibly have been. She was able to locate the restaurant and the hotel it was affiliated with. She contacted the hotel and requested them to look around the tables where we ate. After several minutes, they informed her that there was nothing on the tables and on the floors.
Frustrated we decided to go back to our rooms. Hours later we got a call from Megan that they found our envelope and she advised us to go and retrieve it right away. Apparently, when we had given up, she did not. She kept calling the hotel. So, at around 11:30 pm we were in possession of our "lost" euros.
Never in all my experiences in Italy did I get back my wallets that were either accidentally dropped or stolen .... until now. And, her name is Megan.
Thank you, Megan, for restoring our faith in all that is good in Rome.
