This hotel is amazing! The staff is the true key to a great experience from start to finish. The bellmen, the check in folks, the dining room servers all day and evening, the housekeeping crew, and the concierge. The hotel is a beautiful structure and while a bit dated in some areas the overall appearance is very good and old world like I expected. Our room was very nice though there was no place to sit and read as the only chair was at a desk and another side chair that was not practical for reading. I would recommend they consider that. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I ever experienced in all my years of traveling with so many options you cannot possibly try them all. The omelette chef was so accommodating and friendly. We had lunch there the day we arrived, breakfast each day and even decided to dine there for dinner one night instead of going out. All the servers went above and beyond for us and made us feel so welcome. They have live music that is very classy and works great for the environment of the hotel. We saw several different duos for evening and breakfast services. We spent three nights in this hotel before we boarded our cruise ship and really enjoyed every minute there. I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Rome. read more

We stayed at the St. Regis in Rome. Here's what we liked best. The location is highly convenient. We were able to walk to great shopping, restaurants and sites, including the colosseum and Trevi fountain. Clean accommodations and friendly staff. With jet lag, our sleep schedule was sporadic. The housekeeping staff kindly managed to attend to our room regardless of the hour. It's luxury you would come to expect of the St. Regis brand. Pro tip: Ironing boards/iron not in room and must be requested via Front Desk. However, you can have up to TWO items pressed daily Free. I deducted one star because our bed was lumpy - time to switch out the mattress! And be sure to request a room on floors 1-3. The fourth floor is right below the gym and very noisy during gym hours. read more

We spent 5 nights at the St. Regis and were well taken care of. Their level of service is truly outstanding from check in, our butlers, and the bellmen. We were always greeted with a smile and a hello. Our room was well maintained and equipped with all that we needed. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful-I was a big fan of the smoked swordfish and tuna. Be sure to check out the nightly champagne sabering (7 pm) and enjoy a glass in the beautiful dining area. We stopped here for a few drinks. I ordered a Tequila Old Fashioned, very good! You know you are in a good bar when they use Clear Ice Cubes! Also got an Expresso Martini and very good! They also brought some Short Bread Cookies and some almonds, great little snack. The service was not great for a St Regis, very slow to get drinks and to close out the tab. We were on a Tauck tour of Italy and this was the hotel they chose in Rome. I am delighted that they chose this hotel because it was fabulous. The lobby and restaurant are absolutely beautiful. The rooms are also so nice with the high ceilings, crown molding and mirrored and shelfed wall holding the TV. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with so much good food on it. We even had two musicians playing instruments while we dined. read more

I'm sure the St. Regis is fine, but unfortunately their sister hotel, the W Hotel Rome is unbelievably horrible and the W Rome is not on yelp. I'm hoping the parent company will see this and do something about the W Hotel in Rome. Most people at the W Rome are nice, rooms very small, electrical plugs are not updated and dangerous. Be careful. I plugged the hotel's hairdryer in and received a shock, the plug sparked, and all power went off in the room. That was bad enough, but the gal at the front desk, Chiara Vitiello was rude and arrogant. My family and friends are loyal Bonvoy members, but this gal really made me rethink my loyalty. read more

I've stayed in Marriotts for 4 1/2 years of my life. This was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The service was outstanding. The check-in was more like a sitdown welcome interview. They sent someone to our room to deliver converters. The room was beautiful and spacious. The breakfast was outstanding. How about those croissants? That's what they look like! The chef wanted to make you something special and then wanted to talk US sports. The hotel was beautiful and someday I hope to return. read more

We stayed at the St Regis ROME immediately following their major renovation in July 2018 . It looked then and now lovely. Unfortunately, the hotel, then and now is STILL NOT ready to provide 5 STAR accommodations. At the time, the hotel had NO FUNCTIONING AIR CONDITIONING in July, among other less important problems. At the time management explained they had not fully worked out the problems post remodel, and credited our account about $200 or 2% of the total for our two rooms, four night stay was about $9,000! Hotel management "thanked us for understanding" and asked that next time we are in ROME they would like us to stay again -- so we did. This most recent visit, staff offered a minimal upgrade for one of our two rooms -- lol-- which was okay, I guess, however, nearly 8 years later, the hotel rooms and most staff (save the morning breakfast service staff and chef which was excellent) are still not ready for primetime! This most recent visit, the shower would not drain as we found out at midnight, and very slow to get hot water. I called front desk to inform them and staff wanted to send maintenance staff to snake the shower at 12 midnight. I told them I wanted another room on the same floor to shower and that they could fix the problem the next day -- their response was "that it would NOT BE POSSIBLE to use another room for a shower" and not until I FORCEFULLY demanded did the front desk send a bellman with a key so that I could shower in another room. Not sure how 5 Star hotels , let alone St. Regis, can get away with inconveniencing guests without proper compensation or even an apology. Oh yeah, they gave us a photo album as a parting gift, not even matching the paltry 2% discount like the last time. This is likely our last St Regis ROME experience given the ill treatment from front desk, concierge and inconsistent (turndown service, "sandpaper" towels, lack of tissues, bedside phone not working etc) by housekeeping staff, rude staff at evening bar service and VERY loud live and DJ music in the lobby (if i wanted to stay at a disco, i would have)....i could go on. I guess we have been spoiled by our previous St Regis experiences over many years in Florence which is exceptional. A guest paying these prices has certain brand expectations and should NOT be treated/told that providing a working shower at that moment "would not be possible" and secondly, and almost worse, not even apologize for upsetting a guest for the inconvenience. And finally, guests should not have to beg for a complimentary glass of champagne (which is customary at St Regis) and some nuts. John Astor would be appalled! read more

It is a "WOW". Beautiful hotel with attention paid to details. Warmly greeted by staff everytime we came in contact with them. Makes you feel so very welcomed and your business is appreciated. Luggage quickly taken off our hands the moment we arrived. Impressed the first 1 minute and it didn't stop the entire time. Check in was quick and they even walked us to our room! I have to mention...the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. The shower pressure was strong and delicious. Loved the choice of rain shower or regular shower. My favorite part of the room were all of the toiletrees. They didn't skimp on those. Quality products too. Towels were large and plentiful. The room was beautiful. Cozy and comfortable. Our view was boring and not great. That was disappointing. Elevators scared me. They were freaky tiny. I rode it once and that was enough. I took the stairs the rest of my stay. Then there was that amazing morning brunch. Omg...soooo delicious. A great start to our day. The selection on the buffet was impressive. Something for everyone. I especially enjoyed seeing the fresh honey dripping from the actual honeycomb. The breakfast staff were also friendly and wanting to please. Cappuccino needed to be hotter while the pot of coffee was perfectly brewed and nice and hot. I enjoyed the location of the open air resturant a few steps up from the lobby. Very elegant feel. What a let down that our next hotel was nothing like this one. The St Regis truly spoiled us!! I highly recommend staying here. read more

I can't believe I forgot to review this hotel after my stay last year. I was celebrating after finishing chemo and wanted a really special trip. It also happened to coincide with my birthday. Each and everyone of the staff had impeccable hospitality. I was introduced to the doormen, butler, and manager at check in. They knew who I was from then on out, even though I only had a 3 day stay. I still think of the opulence of this hotel and how wonderfully decorated the guest rooms are. There was a nice large bouquet of fresh flowers in the room that made me smile every time I saw them. The room was large with a separate seating and bedroom, connected by a hallway. Huge closets and bathroom were also a plus. Oh and one of the best things- the butler service, which is standard in the St. Regis brand- was fantastic. They will press 2 garments a day for no charge, coordinate any afternoon tea, and even unpack/pack your luggage for you. Their breakfast was very good, as well as the tea service. I didn't have a chance to have other meals there as I had pre-booked some Michelin starred restaurants. The icing on the cake- literally was the amazing display to celebrate my birthday and literally being alive after surviving stage 4 cancer. They had a delicious strawberry tart prepared, balloons, champagne and the manager even gave me a very nice birthday gift from Bvlgari. I was blown away and not expecting any of this. They went so far to accommodate things I didn't even know I wanted and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Rome after my phenomenal visit. They really deserve 6 stars! They've gotten me addicted to the brand and I'll continue to search out these properties in my future travels. read more

Hotel is in a great location, the service is top notch, and the bar / restaurant were also great. The bartenders (unfortunately I can't remember the two who helped us both nights names'... Perhaps that means they did a good job?) were amazing. They had all the liquor you would want and I'm a tequila guy and I've noticed a lot of places don't have tequila in Italy or if they do its limited types - they had it all here. Rooms are great as you expect, A/C works, hotel is beautiful inside. The lobby bathrooms are a bit far away and dare I say... gross? But just go to your room if you need to use the restroom. It's a very large hotel and appeared to be steadily busy while I was there. read more

it was the first time I stayed in the st regis in rome but have stayed in st regis many times at different places and have always loved the rooms and the service. unfortunately, I can't recommend wholeheartedly staying in the st regis in rome for a few reasons. the service is exceedingly slow (waiting 30+ min for coffee etc). we also asked for tissue paper for a wine we bought at the hotel which also took 40+ min. like some of the other reviews on here, we also experienced some rudeness from the waiters and staff. if we reminded them of some of the food or drink items they forgot, they seemed annoyed. we had one person in our family who needed a wheelchair. while they do have wheelchairs at the hotel, they don't want to help you load them on and off taxis and they generally seem annoyed by the process. I still give 3 stars because the rooms were decently nice and the breakfast buffet in the morning is also okay. the lumen (restaurant)'s lobster linguini was a highlight for sure read more

Soooo, getting a hold of these people has been a nightmare. Apparently a wedding or two incapacitates them. I called a few times for info, bit never received calls and was told, try back later. Suite night awards were denied, then I was told there should be room for upgrade. Nope." Don't worry we have you in a great room". We also have your requests, and they'll be taken care of. Requests were 2 extra bathing towels and face cloths. No big deal, but I know they received. Of course they weren't there. I'm the highest level in Marriott, and typically get upgrades and my preferences... high floor, away from the elevator. I get first floor, directly across from the elevator, and facing the main road and entrance. A worse room at the hotel couldn't be planned. Ut at least 118 is a lucky number in Chinese. Also, not digging the layout. There's a vegetable sprayer bidet thing that sticks out to touch your leg if you sit down on the toilet. And of course, they're 'full", which means no moving to a different room. Only been in a few minutes, but if this is a "great" room, I'd hate to see average. Maybe bunk beds in the courtyard hostel style? read more

They treated us like absolute royalty in honor of a very special occasion. Our corner Imperial Room 139 (an upgrade!) was stunning -- a dream, really. Completely updated. Beautifully decorated and spacious w/ a huge, comfy bed, seating area and dressing area with vanity. The large marble bathroom was well designed and I loved the luxe toiletries. The service was impeccable. So many surprise gifts: bouquets of flowers, bottles of Prosecco, balloons, scrumptious cakes, a generous souvenir gift, plus handwritten notes from the butlers as well as the GM! Breakfast and dinner at Lumen were outstanding. Gorgeous setting, delicious food, attentive service. Do not miss the breakfast buffet (we chose this over points w/ our Platinum status). The St. Regis staff is extraordinary and kind, each and every one. We were so grateful to Mario (Concierge) for resolving an issue with our Vatican tour before we even arrived. It was enormously helpful. We appreciated the use of the courtesy car on two occasions, as well as the butler service for our morning coffee. I'll never forget our stay. Classy hotel with top service. Conveniently located a short walk from the subway and the Rome's main train terminal. We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel before and back again ! The butler service was great about making sure we had everything we needed! They happily treated us to either in-room afternoon tea or in-room morning cappuccino on the occasions we desired those, and offered to help out with pressing our clothes and unpacking and packing our luggage. We used the butler to launder a few items, and the clothes were returned softer than they were when new! The concierge personnel seemed a little put out but that was easily overlooked by the great butler service. The "American style" breakfast buffet here is the best we have ever encountered. This is how you do Luxury, Bespoke service, and Hospitality! We spent the Christmas holidays at the St. Regis Rome. This was my second visit to the hotel formerly known as the Grand Hotel Rome, the first with my husband, having previously stayed there in 2010. Since my last visit the hotel has been significantly updated, without losing a stitch of its history or opulence. The result is a brighter, airier, more welcoming space that still has many of the object d'art, Chandeliers, architecture, and the original elevator. Before we even arrived, the General Manager Mr. De Martino and his staff took wonderful care of us. We received thoughtful pre-arrival information about holiday dinners, music concerts, etc. at the hotel. The hotel concierges Pasquale and Mario arranged for a Mercedes to pick us up at Rome FCO airport after a long and stressful flight on 12/23, which was a seamless experience. As Platinum Marriott Bonvoy members, we were upgraded to a marvelous St. Regis suite befitted with Acqua di Parma toiletries and Murano Chandeliers and with St. Regis' famous (and fantastic) butler service. Before our arrival in Rome I sent the hotel staff my itinerary of all the tours, events, activities, etc. I booked and Carlotta, the guest experience manager, helped to ensure I knew how (and when) to get to everywhere we were going on time. We partook in the Christmas Eve Cena della Vigilia at Lumen (the hotel lobby/restaurant), with live music, which was the nicest holiday we have had in years. This was an updated take on the Feast of the Fishes with three delicate, delicious, and beautifully plated fish courses plus dessert. All were delicious. We also enjoyed L'arte Della Musica, another live music event at Lumen, as well as the classic champagne sabring ritual- which no matter how many times we experience it never gets old, and this is the first place we saw it indoors! The daily breakfast (included because of our Platinum Bonvoy) status was a highlight. More than just a way-nice-to-be-called-buffet breakfast, there was an on-demand omelet station, and was the perfect time to try the Red Admiral- Rome's signature St. Regis Bloody Mary, which was spicy and smooth. Elena and the Lumen staff got to know us by name and by face, always asking how our tour or event the day before was, always interested (without being invasive) in our current day's plans, and just generally being gracious, proactive, and personal. They also were very patient with my very real, but very rusty Italian and also communicated extremely effectively in English. The butler service, available on demand via the Marriott Bonvoy app, email, text, or phone was great. Our every wish was granted seamlessly from room service, coffee/tea, unpacking, pressing, packing, etc. Giorgio, Giovanni, and Vasco took wonderful care of us. On our evening before checkout for a very early flight to our next winter holiday destination, we came back from dinner to find Bvlgari gifts and tokens specific to the St. Regis home waiting for us. Merry Christmas indeed. Check-in and check-out were a breeze (as these least fun parts of the experience should be). The hotel also helped us with guidance on the nerve-wracking COVID test, and provided us with the N-95 masks, which were required even out of doors during the stepped up, "Super Green Pass" holiday season in Rome. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for everything previously mentioned, its central location by Piazza Repubblicca (just 2 blocks walk to the Repubblica Metro (from their just 10 minutes or so to the Colosseo, the Vatican, and a host of other wonders), and the Teatro dell'Opera, which I highly recommend). read more

The hotel has such an amazing history, the Pope once stayed HERE even (Pope Pious IX) to accommodate Empress Carlotta in 1866. But other luminaries have included Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, and George Clooney. And now Rick & Thao. Except we get to enjoy the otherworldly renovation, completed in 2018. The hotel has always been considered one of the highest levels of European luxury hospitality, but now with its renovation, it enters a whole new age of elegance. read more

Ah, the St. Regis in Rome! It has long been my dream to stay at this property and this summer, I finally made it happen. And not just to stay there, but get used a Starwood Platinum benefit of Suite Night Awards and have the luxury of staying at this gorgeous property. Now, it sounds like I am bragging, but after staying at this property, it's hard to describe it in any other way. The finishes and decor of the hotel are immaculate (it is a St Regis after all). You are basically eating breakfast in a palace. The staircase is a piece of art in itself, so make sure to stand on the first floor and look up at it. You will not only see meticulously adorned stairs, but also a painting on the ceiling. Fresh flowers in the lobby beautiful. However, checkin process took a little longer than expected and they did not have a checkin line for Platinum guests like other St Regis properties. Not the end of the world, but they should have more people staffed to help guests. The St Regis Butler service truly completed the experience. Giovanni was our butler the first day and was just amazing. The last couple days we had a different butler and there was an odd incident of them not answering the phone after calling numerous times. When the phone was answered, afternoon tea, macaroons, desserts, everything was designed to spoil. Now, amidst all these gorgeous things, one might ask, what is there to complain about? I only have one major complaint and it's their courtyard area that completely ruins the view and the suite experience (as other reviewers have mentioned). Now, that did not have to be the case. They could have easily spent the extra money and made this into a gorgeous green building by planting a garden there, both creating a nicer atmosphere for people with courtyard view rooms and making it an environmentally friendly building. What they chose to do instead is just leave a ton of green outdoor carpeting and call it a day hoping that nobody would ever care. To me, that was a very unpleasant yet major shortcut. That being said, this property is a piece of art and I'd strongly encourage anyone to stay there (just get a suite with a city view). Ps. Have their hotel Bentley chauffeurur pick you up from the airport, I think the cost is around 200 euros. read more

Dude, this place is so proper it hurts. I found an incridible last minute deal on hotels.com for $400/night and couldn't pass it up due to its proximity and location to Roma centrale and the surrounding area. Plus, it's a St. Regis... let's start with the insanely crazy lobby. It's decorated in a style I'm not familiar with but, big fan here. Big fan. How do I put this? It's basically a better rendition of the Bellagio in Las Vegas sans Chihuly glass but, still elevated. Does that make sense? The rooms. epic. The best part are the toiletries, rain shower and robes. I love a good robe. Also, the linens are super proper and made me want to sleep for 36 hours straight. It's only too bad I got a 6 hour snooze due to an early flight. No matter, it was worth it. Hotel bar. Stiff martinis with a medley of bar nuts. Do it. Promise you won't be disappointed. read more

This is another hotel we stayed at as part of our honeymoon trip. The location isn't bad but it's also not very close to all the major Roman sites so we either walked quite a bit or took cabs. The historic building has been undergoing renovations for quite some time now and the lobby was already completed at this time. We enjoyed participating in the traditional sabrage during our stay. The room we stayed in haven't been renovated just yet and it was the epitome of old world glamour. Beautiful but not quite to our taste exactly. The staff was ok but compared to all the other hotels we stayed at during our honeymoon we felt like the staff at the St. Regis were a bit snobbish. Hence the 4 star review. read more

This hotel was amazing. The best hotel we stayed in our whole month of traveling to Europe. Our room was beautiful and our butler Giovanni was the best. So nice and accommodating. We got a roll out bed also which cost us extra, but my Aunt said it was very comfortable. Every morning we ordered our cappuccinos and in the afternoon we had tea time with english breakfast tea and cookies. I never wanted to leave the room it was so nice. I would give the place five stars if it wasn't for our experience in the hotel bar. We went down there on our first night for a convenient dinner. The food was way over priced, my Dad said his dirty martini tasted buttery which is odd, and the food was just mediocre at best. It probably would have been better if we ate at their restaurant instead of having bar food. It was kinda sad, I mean this is the St. Regis in Rome I expected their bar food to be good. I'm very thankful and happy I got to spent even just a couple nights here. It gave me a nice rest from our hectic traveling. I would totally come and stay here again if I could, I just wouldn't eat at the bar again. read more

We got off the train coming in from Florence and decided that we would do the quick walk to the St. Regis. While walking there, it started downpouring. When we finally made it to the hotel, none of the doormen offered to help us. I walked into the lobby of the hotel to check in, no one greeted me, I had to guess where to go to check in. I walked up to a gentleman's desk to check in, as I handed him our three passports, he explained to me we were only allowed two guests in the room. I told him that wasn't a big deal as our in-laws were traveling with us and staying at the Grand Flora Marriott. He walked away for a while and then came back and told me again how small the rooms were and he wasn't sure it was a good fit for my family. I told him that kids would be going with their grandparents. I did ask for a room upgrade based on my Platinum status and I was told there was nothing available. While I was checking in, my husband had been sitting in the lobby with our two children (17 & 9). He was asked to move to another area. We have no idea why. The gentleman who checked me in actually walked me to my room, and once we got there, he went over again how small the room was (which it was). During my check in, he never explained any of my Platinum benefits or any other information about the hotel. After he left, I went to go find my family. When I was walking back to my room, I was stopped by a staff member who asked what room I was staying in. While my husband and children were coming to the room, they were asked the same thing. When we all got to the room, I told my husband that I didn't want to stay in the hotel as we were being treated like we did not belong there. I left the room to go back to the front desk to ask about immediately checking out. I was told to wait in the lobby and he would see what could be done. After about 15 minutes, I was told that they would allow me to leave. As I was walking back to my room another employee followed me and again asked what room I was in. We immediately left the hotel. I am not sure what the issue was, maybe that we looked a mess because we got wet in the rain? When I checked in, staff should have been able to see that I have been a Marriott Rewards member for 15 years. This is definitely not a hotel that I would ever go back to. read more

Avoid Courtyard rooms. After specifically requesting a city view months in advance and not to be put on a low floor, we ended up on the first floor with a courtyard view for our first wedding anniversary in Rome. We hesitated to accept the room before being checked in but were told the hotel was fully booked. Turns out that the courtyard is currently (May 2015) under some type of construction that no one told us about. There's also no notice anywhere on the property that there is currently construction in the courtyard. The construction consists of half a dozen loud men moving metal structures around that make quite a bit of noise when dropped. So good luck trying to take a nap to help recover from jet lag. When you're not napping and would like the blinds open to enjoy some day light you're greeted with not only loud men inches away from your window but trash bags all over the place and ironically empty bottles all over, not in the trash bags. Not a pleasant experience for what's supposed to be a highly rated hotel costing most people $500+ per night. Otherwise the staff and hotel were pretty nice. read more
