Our room was very modern and comfortable with a full wall window facing a view I won't forget. Even on the second night, it seemed as exciting as the first. I can't get enough of this place. It may take some time to find all the light and decipher all the switches and options but if you have trouble, the staff is very friendly and keen to help you. On our arrival we were greeted with a very welcoming glass of their own sparkling and they also brought our bags directly in our rooms while we were checking in. If you don't want to walk to your room, you can always ask for a ride in their golf carts. We did came back pretty late in the evening, but each night we gathered with our group in the lobby bar on the first floor of the main building. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. He made very pleasing recommendations and they had very interesting choices. I hope I get to go back.

Thankfully, our room faced the back of the hotel, looking out into an interior apartment complex, so we didn't have to deal with the early-hour jackhammering. But if I had shelled out some serious money for the Intercontinental brand and a pretty view of Praça da Liberdade, Porto's main square, and was just looking out at a construction lot covered in tarp, I'd be pretty disappointed. Service here was iffy. When we got to the hotel, the bellboy took our bags and, since the concierge was busy, pointed us to some empty seats nearby; I assumed we'd then be next. Then a line starts forming for people waiting to check in as we're sitting there before we finally realize we need to be standing in the line. We never got much of a "Good morning" or "Have a nice day" from the bellboys, only a very diffident nod. We had a hotel credit and used it at the bar; food was exceptionally mediocre and, par for the course, extremely expensive. Two redeeming points for the hotel: 1. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, with several options and fresh fruit. Still doesn't hold a candle to the legendary hotel buffets in Asia. 2. The location was stellar, easy walking distance to most tourist attractions and the bridges in Porto. That's probably what drives the price up. Wouldn't stay here again.

They have a parking lot that tends to fill fast so make sure you get there early enough to guarantee a spot. Entertainment-wise, they have a game room with a pool table, a bar with plenty of seating and a secondary room with a large TV projector, a gym, a garden, and more. The rooms are just as beautiful as the common areas and the WiFi works well. Service is friendly. I also stopped by for breakfast one day which was also pretty good. Lighting in the room was defecient as most hotels and trying to charge your electronics was a nightmare... once you turned your lights out, it would cut the power of your devices as well, so we had to charge in the bathroom. Bathroom was on the ok side... shower was also on the good side. The bathrobe needs a replacement as it was harsh and over-used... Staff in the lobby could be nicer.... Breakfast in the dining room was very good... great service there! As for the restaurant, I will post a review of its own as it does deserve a star in the Michellin book!!! The gardens outside are quite nice... they needed some care though.. All in all, it was a good hotel and missing some details to maintain the R.C. status in my opinion.... Enjoy

When we checked in we saw an old gentleman hanging around in the lobby. The next morning at breakfast, we were trying to figure out which little packages are butter and which are margarine, when a woman at a nearby table asked if we need help. Turns out she works in the hotel, and the old man is her grandfather! What we like about the hotel: - convenient location. It's practically just side street away from the canal. There is an excellent seafood restaurant just around the corner. - friendly service - brightly light rooms with lots of outlets and even USB ports. There is an outlet by each bedside, so I can sit in my bed when charging and using my phone. Trust me, not every hotel is so considerate. There is also a mini fridge and kettle. - delicious breakfast. Homemade bread and pastries (okay, I admit, that's a given at anywhere in Portugal), fresh juice, and a kiss ass Nespresso machine!! They even have soy milk and soy yogurt. Parking: there is a very small lot in the alley, you can also park along the alley as long as you don't block the way, if you prefer street parking it's plentiful too.
