When you check in you are required to leave $500 pesos in cash as a security deposit and it will be returned if no damages are incurred. The room we received was clean, quiet, and every room includes a closed garage. They do have quiet hours and will enforce it if you are being too loud. The hotel offers a restaurant. Staff were helpful especially when we couldn't turn on the AC. We learned you need to enter your card key in a key reader next to the door to turn on the AC. Bathroom showers gets plenty of water and it's hot. We stayed here because we were attending a family event at Jardin de Eventos Ajijic which is right across the street from the hotel.

Great stop in Nogales, Mexico. It's an "auto hotel" and includes a secure garage. Entrance to the…read moreroom is from the garage, so perfect for your packed auto. Large room, clean, comfortable bed, hot shower, coffee maker, comp. coffee, a couple of bottles of water. Clean, attractive, gated compound, friendly staff (very little English but helpful). No refrigerator but in January, a cold garage:) Cost Jan. 2016 is $670 MX. Quiet, though not far from the highway. It doesn't show up on your GPS either by address or Points of Interest, until you get out of the village on the way to Hermosillo. When you turn on Industrial, it's a short distance on the right. If you get to the residential roundabout, you've gone too far.

This place is exceptional. What makes it exceptional? The staff here is the best. My friend needed…read moreto have dental surgery and chose to have it in Mexico to save mucho dinero. He has mobility issues and gets around on a motorized scooter. There are several steps leading up to the entrance of Hotel Fray and staff quickly came out, disassembled his scooter, and carried it inside for him. The lobby was tastefully decorated and very inviting with several comfortable couches and chairs to relax in. There is a bar and restaurant attached to the lobby. The young lady who checked us in, Danielle, was very kind and spoke pretty good English. She remembered my friend from the last time he was there. Check-in wasn't until 3 PM but they had at one of our rooms available at 10 AM so I was able to come back and take and nap while my friend was in surgery. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large with a stand up shower. We got 2 rooms for $45 each a night which is a steal. You are only a few blocks from the US border and in the middle of all the shopping, dining, and dental centers that Nogales has to offer. Everything about Hotel Fray was great and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

No overnight parking, so you need to part a half a block away in a lot on Obregon Street or on the US side, which I did for $16 for 24 hours. Two negatives - no desk or table in the room. Weak air- old hotel. The area near the border is getting a little better and a little less sketchy every year. I stay here once or twice a year.

This was my first stay at this location and since their association with BonVoy Marriott program. The good things...the parking lot is above the street, there is a guard on duty who walks the property and will volunteer as a bellman, and the breakfast is pretty good and served from like 6 to 11. This chain is a budget hotel, cheap but adequate, and that's what you're checking into. Most of the guests are employees, field supervisors for retail or workmen doing maintenance or construction. I think there was 3 US license plates in the parking lot. Not a lot around the hotel, but next door south, the gas station has a good car wash, an Oxxo mini market and a Caffenio coffee place , Sonora's answer to Starbucks.

A TV in the room with cable TV, primarily Mexican channels, although there was an English-speaking CNN International channel. There's a desk and wooden chair room in the small room, but no sofa, etc. The bed definitely wasn't lush, but I'm not picky about the quality of a bed. Everything was clean. Annoyingly, the hot water wasn't working when I tried to shower in the morning, but I didn't care enough to complain. No bar or restaurant or pool here. Apparently there's a small gym. Free continental breakfast. The staff was friendly. I greatly appreciated one of the hotel workers giving me a free 10-minute ride back to the US border after I checked out in the morning. There doesn't seem to be any remotely luxurious hotels in Nogales, FWIW.
