Staff is sketchy. Upon check-in we noticed some signage that they offer a transfer service to the airport. We inquired about it and was told it would be 45€, but to come back the day before check-out to book. We came back the day before checkout to book the service. We were now informed by a different guy that it would be 65€ if we paid by card, 55€ if we paid cash, but the lady next to the guy said it would be 60€ card and 55€ cash. What the hell? You can walk across the street and get a taxi to the airport for 40€. That's exactly what we ended up doing when we saw the price on the taxi window. There's always a taxi available from 8am-9pm so I would recommend doing that instead. Another night. We arrived around 10pm. There was a guy behind the counter that wouldn't stop staring at me as I was walking to the elevator, with my wife. I said ciao/hello. Instead of saying hello back. He asked what room number we were staying in. As far as the room. You can hear tables shifting above. They were doing work on the 400 floor and started around 8 or 9am. The blinds don't block out all of the sunlight. Needless to say. We never really got a chance to sleep in. On a positive note. The hotel is located within minutes from the high speed train station, bus stop and has plenty of shops nearby. The shower also had great pressure and maintained the temperature unlike the last 3 hotels we stayed at during this trip. WIFI is free and fast. There is a mini bar in the room, at a cost. We removed the stuff and used the mini fridge to store water bottles we purchased nearby. Even with the positives. The staff interaction was something that made us feel some type of way. Pros: Directly across from the rail station and the number 2 bus that is a 10-minute ride to Venice proper. A/C in room worked properly. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Safe and fridge in room. Free Wi-Fi worked well. Cons: The bed in room 702 was super low. It was like sleeping on the floor. Not that I was going to watch it, but the TV didn't work. Room furniture was showing its age (wear and tear). The tub side wall was high (I kept banging my foot getting in) and there was no shower curtain or shower door. The bathroom had a certain funk to it (maybe the bidet overflowed, and the scent was coming from the drain in the floor in the center of the bathroom?). On a non-hotel related note: Be careful on the number 2 bus to Venice. It's always crowded, and if a fat man tries to be helpful by telling you to scan your ticket, he's not. He wants to see where you keep your wallet. Then when the bus is moving, he fails to hang on to the straps, and flounders around to pick your pocket, getting off at the next stop. Excellent location is the best about Hotel Plaza in Venice Mestre. The lobby area and the customer service counter are also perfect. The hotel is right across the street from Venice Mestre Train Station and the city bus station. Five minutes walk to the Airport Bus Station. Many supermarkets and restaurants are also within a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel lobby has several seating areas. It would be nice if you were waiting to meet up with your friends. The couches are comfortable too. The receptionists at the check-in counter are very friendly and helpful. They're available 24/7. The breakfast buffet is pretty decent for just €9 per person. The coffee machines have so many choices. The hot food items are good. The seats are comfortable. However, the guestrooms are due to remodeling. I stayed in two different rooms at two other check-in times in a couple of weeks. Both rooms started showing their age. The bottom of the bathroom doors is damaged. The floors are separated. We're there six nights in the first week and one night a week later. At least two nights of these seven nights are boisterous. The noise is from the parties at the patio area on behalf of the hotel until 1-2 am. I love the location of Hotel Plaza. I hope they'll keep up the guestrooms' condition and control the party not to make too much noise after midnight. read more

Staff was friendly and entryway immaculate but had to wait til after two for checking which was fine. We arrived two hours early. Waited about 20 minutes for the room key. When reaching room it was unmade. Went back down to lobby and informed desk. Waited another 10 minutes and were given a new room. It was fine. This is listed as 4 star hotel. Mistakes do happen. The room and hotel was clean and neat. Very quiet on 7th floor. Check out was easy. Clerks we're multi lingual. Many shops and restaurants in walking distance. Budget hotel. Positives: -The lobby is upscale but the rooms are very old. -Shower has great water pressure. -Free wifi. -Restaurant in bottom of hotel. -Train station across the street. -Breakfast was the most extensive buffet I've seen in a budget hotel. From fruit, cereal, pastries, breads, eggs, sausage, bacon, cured meats, juice and variety of coffee choices. They also have a station that dispenses a variety of jams, honey and even a hazelnut chocolate spread (like Nutella). Negatives: -Ongoing construction which is noisy and smelly. -If you've looked at the website, it's a bit misleading because to get a renovated room you have to pay extra. -Our particular room, #437 was two twin beds pushed together and was extremely outdated. Just FYI to turn on the lights you have to insert your room key by the hotel room door. -Terrible toiletries and a very small tv in the room. -Hair dryer did not work and had serious burn marks on it. It's prob 30 years old. -Hotel taxes were $3 per person per day. -Front desk hotel staff is understaffed with typically a line to check in or out and even ask questions. A concierge station would be very helpful. I would not stay at this hotel again. read more

This hotel was included in our package. It's not IN Venice, but it is literally 10 min by train and 12 min by bus into Venice (the "island"). The train and bus station are literally across the street, only about 1.25 euro (by train) to get to Venice. Super easy. The hotel on the outside looks a little dingy and the area as well. However, the lobby is pristine and kept trendy. The front desk employees are very courteous and accommodating. The rooms are spacious. Beds are firm (sheets are a bit rough). Very clean and a very decent 3.5-4 star hotel. I expected much less from the outside. Our stay came with breakfast, which was a very healthy assortment of meats, cheeses, fruits (canned and fresh), cereal, eggs, and sausage. There's not many places to eat or things to do around this hotel (kind of have to have a car), so do keep that in mind. There is a decent hotel below (Soul Kitchen cafe) that isn't too terribly pricey. Def worth the stay. read more

TIP: Request an extension cord for your room as you're checking in. There aren't any outlets near the beds. I was looking for a last minute hotel in Venice that had at least a four-star review online, this hotel popped up on another site showing decent reviews and being located across the street from train station made it a perfect match. We took the train from Florence to Venice and as others have said, as soon as you walk outside the train station Venezia-Mestre, just cross the street and there it is. Check-in was a breeze and they honored our request when I booked online to have the rooms close to each other. Prior to booking, I read someone's review mentioning to get an extension cord prior to heading up to a room, so I did ask if there was an outlet near the beds, to which the lady said there should be. Unfortunately, there wasn't but I called down to the lobby and they quickly brought one up (not a big deal, just and fyi). The lobby was very nice and gave to hotel a very fancy, modern look. There were two elevators, both which worked quickly. The hallways were updated and looked really clean and nice as well. The room looked a little outdated, but it was very large and comfortable. The air conditioner worked great and bed was comfortable. I read some other reviews complaining about the mattress being too hard, I didn't find that to be the case. In fact I believe it was a memory-foam mattress which made it even more comfortable. The bathroom was updated and nice, but unfortunately the toilet was right in front of the sink, so for someone that is 6'4, it's a little difficult to squeeze in there lol (check out my photo). The wifi was a little weak up on the 7th floor, but it was still usable. The biggest upside to this hotel is the location. Outside, you can catch the #2 bus that goes directly to Venice (takes about 10 minutes), catch a train or take cab. Plenty of options. We took the bus both ways and had no issues, it also drops you off in front of the hotel as well. Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is about a 20 minute cab ride. TIP: You can buy the bus/train tickets for €1.50 each way outside of the train station by the bus stop on a computer terminal. There's a button for English and it will guide you through it, I'd recommend to just buy a round trip ticket for €3 to save from a hassle later. Keep in mind the water-bus in Venice costs €7.50. read more

We stayed at Hotel Plaza for a couple of nights while in Venice. The hotel is nice. Rooms are a little small, and looks more like an apartment then a hotel room. The lobby and restaurant of the hotel are both nice and clean. The location of the hotel is great, as it's located in Mestre, and is a 10 minute train ride away from Venice. The train station is located right in front of the hotel. The outside of the hotel is not as nice though. The area isn't as clean, and there's nothing to do outside of the hotel, other than taking a train to Venice where all restaurants, shops and sightseeing is located. read more

So glad we decided to stay here. We originally chose this hotel for location purposes. We wanted something close to the train station as we would be taking the train to Florence after a few days in Venice. We were stunned by the hotel. It was spacious (in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in Europe), it was modern and cozy. We also very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet. They had a great spread of pastries, breads, cheeses and fruit. Considering that we visited during peak season we always had somewhere to sit (spacious eating area). Getting to Venice from Mestre was quite easy. We opted to take the train. However, on the way back we had to take the bus (number 2) because the train stopped running late at night. Be aware that the bus gets super packed and in the summer it is quite hot! That was my least favorite experience. But I was expecting that. On a side note, if you are a runner and looking for a place to run, this is a great neighborhood. The hubby and I got up early for a morning run and it was nice and quiet. We ran along the side streets and it was perfect. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel the best from all of the Hotels we stayed in Italy. read more

My husband and I stayed for 8 days while traveling around Italy. The hotel is directly across the street from the bus station and train station, which led to excellent options for travel. It is one train stop from St Lucia, which is the islands of Venice. The hotel offers a great breakfast in the morning complimentary with your stay. They have great upgraded rooms, with large bathrooms and a beautiful ajointing restaurant, that serves delicious options. The front desk is accomodating, and the wifi works great! Beware of bed bugs and horrible customer service. I was in room 302 where I had multiple bed bug bites. I called the front desk and they sent someone up to check the room and gave me keys to switch to 702, which was the same room but older design. I also went to the front desk to show them my bites where the so called manager didn't do anything and was not apologetic. He asked me why I didn't tell him the first nIght which was a ridiculous question to ask. They offered zero compensation and no relief. read more

I would like to start off with pointing out that this is absolutely NOT a 4 star hotel. Very misleading in fact. I'm not spoiled and do not require a 4 star, however, if I'm paying for one, I expect one. The price was very reasonable, and maybe that has something to do with it. The hotel is very conveniently situated right across the street from Venezia Mestre station. Only a 10-15 minute ride into Venice and a huge plus.Our room was on the 5th floor and faced courtyard. Very quiet. This is where the positives end. Hotel is very busy and very outdated. It might have been nice at one point, but the rooms are extremely aged and received zero maintenance as far as I'm concerned. Size of the room is pretty decent, at least for Europe. The bed was pretty large but hard, extremely hard. Same with the only two pillows provided. The extra wool blankets provided and stored in the closet were visibly dirty. The bathroom is extremely outdated, with an old hand held shower head that has hardly any water pressure. The worse part of the room was the fact that at any given moment it smelled like sewer. The source of smell, I assume, was coming from the drain hole in the middle of the bathroom floor. Even with the bathroom door closed, as we entered our hotel room at the end of the day, we would immediately smell it. There were no plugs anywhere in the room except at the table. We were unable to plug our phones in and place them on the two bedside tables to charge and had to share one plug. They did not have robes or slippers, which is totally fine with me, however every other 4-star hotel and even the B&Bs that we stayed at during our trip through Italy had them. The blow dryer that was created probably in the 70ies, would overheat and turn off every two minutes. The WiFi did not work in our room and we would have to walk downstairs to the lobby to use it. The staff was rude and offered no explanation after we asked them about it. The breakfast was decent and had plenty of choices, however it was so packed that on both occasions we had trouble finding an empty table. There were no plates available and we had to use saucer sized plates to grab some food. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. Sure it's convenient and typically we do not care about the quality as we do not spend much time in the room. This hotel is a great deal for travelers visiting Venice. The room was very basic and the bathroom tub needed some work but the friendly staff and convenience being located across the street from the train to Venice made up for it. The front desk is very helpful with many tours to choose from. They even arranged for our taxi to pick us up for our very early morning flight and packed us a breakfast to go. Breakfast buffet and wifi is included in the room price. Wifi is hard to find in Venice especially free. Venice is a very expensive city so might as well save a few dollars on your hotel to enjoy the city. read more

3 stars for the hotel and one just for being so close to the train station. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They had a great map of Venice which helped us out a lot. Wifi and a breakfast buffet was included which was very nice. The breakfast included many things but I hope they improve the recipe for their eggs and bacon. Some problems were the tv was broken. They offered to send someone up, but my wife was already in bed. The main problem was that the heater for the room did not work. It was rather chilly that night so we were very disappointed. If you're looking to visit Venice this is a great hotel to stay at. The train station is a little dirty and unstaffed. Ask the hotel for assistance. Getting to Venice cost us 2,50 Euro for two tickets. The train back ended up being cancelled late at night so everyone had to go by bus. Which was about the same price. Venice is an expensive city but there's no reason to stay in the city. I would only stay in the city if you planned on being there for more than two nights. Ok let me start by saying that this hotel is in a great location for visitors. It's directly across the street from the train station. You can take the train into Venice in under 10 minutes and it's currently $2.50 round trip Per person. We stayed in Venice for an extra week and stayed here. The hotel itself is nice. Clean, welcoming, and attractive. Rooms have big heavy doors and while being very minimalist they are overall very good. The room is in fact larger then most of the places we stayed in in Italy. The bathroom has a small bathtub with a half panel and handheld shower. It is tiny with a toilet and bidet. It is not fancy but it is clean and much better then most places. We stayed in 5 different hotels while in Italy this was the biggest, most modern, and best located. They also have an amazing breakfast with delicious croissants, Fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh yogurt, cheeses, cured meats, very runny and wet scrambled eggs, sausage, super fatty and under cooked bacon, and cereal that is included in the price. Free wifi was good too. A little slow at times but better then others we had used. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Neither of us spoke Italian and they could answer us in English and were very clear. Now mind you this hotel is very good for a couple days. I don't recommend it for a week. Ok now for some of the negatives. The walls are very thin so you can hear noise from your neighbors through both sides of the wall and including the ceiling. It can be quite noisy if you get folks that are loud or above you that jump or move around a lot. The doors to the rooms are huge and heavy and most folks just let them slam shut instead of quietly closing then, so at all hours of the night you can be awakened by that. The worst thing about this place is the beds. They are seriously hard! They look nice but it was like sleeping on military slabs, actually it felt like I was just sleeping on the box spring. Very uncomfortable. For three nights I had to sleep on top of my sheets and the thin pad they put between it for added padding, with just a scratchy blanket over the top of me. I literally felt like I was sleeping on a board. Needless to say we didn't get a lot of sleep and the sleep we did get was restless. Plus we would wake up feeling like someone beat us up. Sore from the bed. I was traveling with my mother who is older and she had a tough time. She would awake very achey and like I said neither of us slept very well at all when there. If we did get some sleep it was due to just sheer and udder exhaustion taking over. Overall I would recommend this hotel for the location, breakfast, and cleanliness, just wouldn't recommend staying for more then a couple days. If they would change out the beds this hotel would be an absolute gem. But until they do that be forewarned that you will pretty much be sleeping in beds that feel like the floor. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Gate 1 Travel itinerary. The male receptionist was very helpful especially since we didn't speak any english. He spoke english and was able to answer a few questions that we had. The room is small but it's ok because you mostly use it to sleep and shower especially since you're in Venice. I don't think I have anything bad to say about the room just that it's small compared to anything you can get in USA. The breakfast was good, a lot better than I had expected.
