The room was clean and tidy and well appointed if a little dated. But, that's part of the charm. It's not one of those sharp-cornered, IKEA decored, chains that turns your whole soul beige. The bathroom is tiny but convenient with everything you need. The view was AMAZING. I doubt that I will experience that view again and I'm okay with that. I've done it. You should, too. The breakfast that everyone raves about was a little disappointing. I think it's a shame that y'all have been subjected to food that makes y'all believe that a mediocre buffet of overcooked eggs and prepackaged pastries is amazing. I would like to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your palate. Be warned that you'll be paying some sort of tax at the end of your stay. It's like $5-$8 a day. Don't freak out. The first was that it seems like each room was unique. Which again I personally loved, but that led to some rooms in the same category having different layouts, different style beds, different bathrooms. Though my room was small and it was hard for me to figure out a place to put my luggage, I just thought it was beautiful and worth it. The bathroom was lovely and updated with towel warmers. They included this cute little amenities kit. One thing I didn't love about the hotel was we weren't allowed to bring in any outside drink or food in. So when I came back with an ice cream cone, I was told to finish it outside. And when we were all hanging out in the lobby just relaxing from the day, I had a bottled diet Coke and was approached to again be told no outside drinks. This led to me feeling bad for anyone who came in with like a slice of pizza or something. To think positively of this rule I'm gonna go with they wanted to keep the fabrics and beautiful items safe from tourist being careless. Speaking of, there were so many details of this hotel that were just historic and gorgeous. If you don't want to do that there is a vaporetto station right next to the hotel so it's easy to use the public transport. Upon arrival our room was upgraded and we had a room facing the Grand Canal (room 118)! There was champagne and snacks waiting in the room for us There is a giant bath tub with jets and they provide robes and slippers for you to wear! The hotel staff are all so sweet. The location is good and, you can easily walk to the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks basilica/Doges palace. Their breakfast that is included has many options. They also have free snacks in the evening(5p-8p) if you get a drink at the hotel bar. I would highly recommend this place!!

We finally arrived at our hotel at 20:15, we had walked seemingly aimlessly from the port, admiring the glorious scenery and beautiful architecture, when one colonial looking house in particular caught our attention. How amazing, this turned out to be our hotel! It's a huge yellow house set within I don't know how many acres of land, some of which is a vineyard. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Thursdays, however they kindly offered us lasagne or pasta with meat Ragu, both were delicious! The hotel exceeded all of our expectations! Our room was very authentic and in keeping with the style of the house. It was a large airy room with ample storage space, a lovely en suite and a delightful veranda which overlooked the vineyards and the front of the property. The staff are so lovely and made us feel completely at home! In the morning, after breakfast, we discovered we had free usage of the many bicycles kept on the grounds! Our four year old was strapped into the child seat on the back of my husband's bike and we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful ride around the entire island, it only took an hour! The island appeared to be a clean and harmonious place. People mostly cycled around or drove tiny 3 wheel pick ups! We loved it here and fully intend to return next year!

This was our second time visiting Venice, couldn't believe that it has been 24 years since we last…read morevisited. Last time we spent 2 weeks in Italy and I loved Venice. This time Hubby booked the Ruzzini Palace Hotel which has the back entrance directly accessible by boat! It was so convenient! Hubby prearranged with the hotel to have a private minivan to pick us at the airport, and then transferred to a prearranged water taxi that took us right to the back door of the hotel, where doormen were ready to help with the luggage. We felt that the convenience was well worth the €200 fee for the entire group of 3. Every staff member was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The hotel does not have a lot of guest rooms, as the "normal" deluxe rooms were all sold out when we booked, we went with 2 mini suites for the 3 of us.  The mini suites were like very spacious rooms with beautiful traditional European decor and furnishings, that had a luxurious feel. It was nice that the windows overlooked the Saint Maria Formosa Square, which was not overly crowded during our stay.  We were on the 4th floor which was the top floor and the windows had good insulation, it was pretty quite inside.  The rooms and the bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Interestingly, there's only 1 elevator which was very small. It could only fit in 4 people with a total weight of 320 kg. Big luggage would not fit even for 1 person. You would need a staff member to help with the luggage. There's no restaurants inside the hotel, but why would you need one when everyone goes out to the Grand Canal and other restaurants to eat.  It does provide room service, though. When we left, Huddy had prearranged a water taxi to pick us up from the hotel to a water taxi station, where he had reserved a comfortable 7-person van to drive us to Trieste that took a coupleof hours. It was a very good stay. However, there was a fruit fly on my peeled orange, an ant in Daughter's room, which dampened the experience a bit. Also, bear in mind that the main area of the room was 1 step lower than the bathroom and office/desk area on bothsides, these rooms are definitely not wheelchair accessible.  So, 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars. It's worth mentioning that the location of the hotel is very good, it's a short walk to many tourist attractions.  It was about a 7 minute to the Saint Marks Square, that's like tge heart of Venice. We would return if we go to Venice again.

Our suite was very spacious and had a separate parlor. They arranged our airport transfers, gave us recommendations for lunch and dinner, gave us ideas to go sightseeing (been to Venice before). I could not have asked for more. I will say, it's not the easiest to get to from the bus station: 1 people mover, a porter to carry bags over 2 bridges. Might have been easier to get to from train station but, live and learn. The lady who met us at the desk and appeared to be here every minute of the day, Francesca was amazing. My husband and I fell in love with this hotel. The customer service is superb, charming and attentive and thoughtful. It sits right across the Sta Lucia station, so if u took the train, then you are just a bridge over. The concierge offered to upgrade our room and im glad we did! our room had that little tiny balcony and it was just marvelous and overlooking the Grand Canal. The room was opulent looking, heavy drapes adorn the balcony windows and accented by antique victorian chairs. Tiny chandeliers hung in the bathroom mirror and of course a big one in our junior suite. There was a tv and a mini bar with tea service and coffee as well. I was regretting not staying another night. I will definitely book again when we come back.
