Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this hotel.
Our stay at Hotel Posa Posa was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've ever had, especially considering what we paid.
When we checked in, the staff made it seem like we were about to walk into an amazing room. Instead, we opened the door to a room that looked like it hadn't been updated since the 1920s. The furniture was old and worn, there was a strong moldy smell throughout the room, and within minutes we realized it was infested with ants. They were crawling around the room, including near our belongings. It was disgusting. To make matters worse, one of my family members had to kill a huge bug that was even bigger than a horsefly. At that point, we genuinely questioned how well the room had been cleaned.
Before unpacking, we politely asked if we could pay extra to move into one of the newer, higher-floor rooms that we had seen online. We were immediately told they "couldn't accommodate us" and that no other rooms were available. We accepted the answer at first and tried to make the best of it.
But after finding ants everywhere and realizing the room was simply not sanitary, we went back to the front desk. We spent over an hour speaking with the gentleman at reception trying to explain the situation. Only after a long conversation did they suddenly manage to find us another room. So apparently another room was available after all.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it. After we were moved into the renovated room, we were later told we had to leave it and were moved again into another old, outdated room. It felt like we were being shuffled around instead of being given a reasonable solution from the start.
The second old room was another disappointment. The constant room changes, outdated accommodations, and lack of consistency turned what should have been a relaxing vacation into a frustrating experience.
The location and views are beautiful, but they don't make up for mold, ants, outdated rooms, bugs, and poor customer service. For the prices this hotel charges, guests should never have to deal with multiple room changes just to end up back in another aging room.
There are far too many great hotels in Positano to risk staying here. I would not return, and I wouldn't recommend Hotel Posa Posa to anyone looking for the quality that the photos and prices suggest.
