My fiancée and I stayed at this Toronto location from Friday to Sunday, and the experience was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable.
On Saturday morning, housekeeping entered our room after only one knock, despite a Do Not Disturb sign being clearly displayed. At the time, my fiancée and I were in the middle of having sex. This resulted in a serious and extremely uncomfortable violation of our privacy. No guest should ever experience something like this, especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is visible.
The staff member initially denied that the sign was up, then noticed it and acknowledged it before leaving. This should never have happened in the first place.
We attempted to contact the front desk multiple times, calling over nine times before someone finally answered. When we explained the situation, we were placed on hold for over 20 minutes and repeatedly told that a manager would arrive in 5 to 10 minutes. After nearly 45 minutes of waiting, we went down to the front desk ourselves.
The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, repeatedly interrupting us and arguing instead of addressing the situation. Even worse, staff members were visibly laughing and joking about what had happened right in front of us, which was humiliating, disrespectful, and deeply inappropriate given the nature of the complaint.
When the manager finally arrived, she was polite and apologetic, but it became clear she had not been informed when we were originally told she had been. Communication afterward was inconsistent, and we encountered further confusion, delays, and conflicting information regarding the complaint process and our refund.
This experience completely ruined what was meant to be a relaxing weekend. Having your privacy violated in such an intimate moment, followed by dismissive treatment and mockery from staff, is unacceptable.
For a hotel in a major city, this level of service and professionalism is extremely disappointing. We sincerely hope management takes this seriously and ensures that guest privacy, staff training, and accountability are prioritized so no one else has to experience this. read more
