Fabulous portugal hotel in the heart of wine/port country. Truly spectacular! Classic hotel with…read morethe BEST staff you will find in Portugal. Very accommodating and anxious to make your stay memorable and special. Hotel is immaculate. Every detail has been addressed; breakfast selections are excellent and fresh, starched white bed sheets, comfortable and FIRM mattress, ample drinking water in rooms along with coffee/tea/espresso, face towels, bright lighting and lamps, highly efficient A/C. My experience: shipping costs of libations are cheaper here than at nearby wineries AND they have a huge selection in the lobby. Of note: don't get locked out on your patio - I did. Also, bathroom mirror is totally see through, similar to a 3 dimensional holograph. Interesting, but I need a mirror. In closing, you will love this spectacular experience if you're looking for a vineyard/winery experience.

I was lucky enough to get up graded to a suite which was a large bedroom with a king bed and balcony, a living area with another balcony and a large bathroom. And it overlooked the river so I could watch the tour boats lazily make their way up the river. There are grounds to wander, a pool to swim in and a walkway along the river that makes a nice day just that much better. The service in this hotel is top notch. Ask for something and someone will run and get it immediately. My problem was I kept getting lost as it rambles and has several different levels so I was always asking for help to get to where I needed to be. The restaurant has a wonderful chef who prepares amazing dishes. I had breakfast and dinner here and you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. And the best part? A Portugal hotel who knows that Americans like to drink a lot of coffee in the morning so I got my own pot on the table! Yay for me! The town that this is in doesn't have much going for it . . .the best restaurant in town is in the hotel but you can walk to the train station or to the small shops. All in all this place is luxury in the Douro Valley. Check it out while sipping some of the local wines that grow all over this valley!

Beautiful location right on the vineyard…read more Full service hotel with spa, wine tasting, great food and excellent staff. Rooms are exceptional and a full breakfast is included in the main dining room. It's called a wine experience for a reason!!! From the moment we checked in we were welcomed with a glass of champagne. After check in, we went to the room, which was spacious, spotless and absolutely lovely. A bottle of champagne was on ice in the sitting area with a nice welcome note. Everything in this hotel was a 5 star experience. If this hotel was in Napa, it would easily be $1000 a night. So IMO, it's an exceptional value. The main are of the hotel has beautiful sitting areas with fire places. It's relaxing and calming. Besides the amazing wines, the food was very good. At dinner, the Sommelier paired wine with our dishes which was a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when they pick you up by tuk tuk to take you the restaurant and then back to your room after dinner. The pool and spa are also a nice touch to complete this experience. I highly recommend this hotel. If you want to feel pampered and a little bougie this is the place.

Our room was very modern and comfortable with a full wall window facing a view I won't forget. Even on the second night, it seemed as exciting as the first. I can't get enough of this place. It may take some time to find all the light and decipher all the switches and options but if you have trouble, the staff is very friendly and keen to help you. On our arrival we were greeted with a very welcoming glass of their own sparkling and they also brought our bags directly in our rooms while we were checking in. If you don't want to walk to your room, you can always ask for a ride in their golf carts. We did came back pretty late in the evening, but each night we gathered with our group in the lobby bar on the first floor of the main building. The bartender was very helpful and friendly. He made very pleasing recommendations and they had very interesting choices. I hope I get to go back.

It is an agriturismo and it has it's own vineyard. There's a gorgeous view of the surrounding hills and vineyards from their hilltop location. Highlights: 1) Close to Douro River and all the Port Wineries. 2) Great breakfast. I loved all the huge selection of homemade jams. The cherry jam was my favorite. 3) It's a great place to go for a long walk. Just make sure you have GPS because we got a little lost one morning. 4) The bed and room was really comfy.

Lighting in the room was defecient as most hotels and trying to charge your electronics was a nightmare... once you turned your lights out, it would cut the power of your devices as well, so we had to charge in the bathroom. Bathroom was on the ok side... shower was also on the good side. The bathrobe needs a replacement as it was harsh and over-used... Staff in the lobby could be nicer.... Breakfast in the dining room was very good... great service there! As for the restaurant, I will post a review of its own as it does deserve a star in the Michellin book!!! The gardens outside are quite nice... they needed some care though.. All in all, it was a good hotel and missing some details to maintain the R.C. status in my opinion.... Enjoy
