Quaint hotel tucked in a little corner which we appreciated, especially when you are looking to…read morerelax. This may not be a great place for people who are looking for a night life, five star dining, or a busy shopping strip. This hotel is located next to a small road lined up with small restaurants and shops. Personally, we love it. We love it so much we have stayed here twice. Our kids enjoy the easy access from our room to the pool to the beach and back. We appreciate this place for it's simplicity. Our first visit we stayed on a regular floor and felt that some rooms needed a little refresh (although not terrible). Our second visit we stayed in the Marriott Bonvoy floor so the rooms were a little more refreshed (updated). We enjoyed the water refill station, all floors should have one. Staff - Staff has all been helpful and pleasant. Pool staff is the best. Pool - Our favorite place. We spend most of our time here. We love that they give you a wristband now so that it keeps out non-guests. Towels are passed out with a card given at check-in. It's easy and convenient. Pool staff walks around often and takes drink and food orders as needed. Beach chairs are a first come first serve basis, but we've never had an issue finding any. Beach - The convenience of having the beach at your fingertips is unmatched. My kids go from the beach to the pool multiple times a day. The beach is not usually crowded and you can find a spot to lay out a towel. If you would like to rent an umbrella and chair you can visit the rental booth right next to the beach - it is easy and convenient. If you are a hotel guest, you get one free rental (I don't remember the length) during your stay. This is a great snorkeling spot too and you can also rent a paddle board. We usually bring our own snorkeling gear, but renting is available too. Our kids are older and chose to snorkel near the port, but be aware the current/waves are stronger there. I would NOT recommend it for young kids, especially not without a vest. Food - We never ate at the restaurant. We grabbed coffee and breakfast from the coffee shop downstairs. It's pricey, but not bad considering the convenience. We also chose to walk across the street to eat breakfast and lunch. For dinner, we usually took a stroll down the main road to find a place to eat. There are PLENTY of options. Snow cone hours are odd at times, but if it's closed there is a great place across the street as a secondary option. There is an ABC store right next to the hotel. We opted to buy alcohol and snacks to keep in our room in our mini fridge. ___________________________________ MY CON: Sigh.... Our 2nd stay was during the TSUNAMI WARNING on July 29, 2025 - we didn't have a rental car until the next day so we had to rely on the hotel to relocate us to the local high school. It was also my child's birthday so we spent it evacuated. A lot of the guest who didn't have a car had to leave to the high school with no food and no water. We grabbed what we could and lined up for the bus. The ABC closed once the sirens went off, so we were left with no food. We were given NO instructions, we were only told to get on the bus and go. We had only ate breakfast and you can't imagine how hungry we were. No one had a car. No Ubers available. No restaurants open. We were lucky enough to find a worker who was kind enough to take my husband and another dad to a gas station to grab some items for our kids to eat. Yay to gas station sandwiches and Powerades. Once the emergency was cleared (10 hours later), we were allowed to come back to our hotel. Staff welcomed us back with a water bottle and a bag of chips (sigh). I was so annoyed by this gesture. I cannot explain why, because I shouldn't be - but I was. I am grateful and thankful that our family was safe. I am glad that we had the option to be bussed to the evacuation center. HOWEVER, in the future - staff should have an emergency plan in place to share with guest. There needs to be a form of communication for guest to receive updates. We were left with NO information, just dumped off. It was a very scary experience for us and having more details would have helped.

I've traveled to Hawaii multiple times and will do my best to explain my stay here at this resort…read more I do think that the resort had a very friendly and very quick staff, the pools also were nice. However the rooms feel unprepared. My room had no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. And the shower looked like it wasn't cleaned well. A lot of people complain about food being expensive, but resort food in Hawaii is always expensive. I recommend to get out of the resort you're staying at and explore the city's local restaurants, it's almost always a more affordable and enjoyable experience. The hotel does have sone nice family activities. I will say one thing I was extremely disappointed on was the beaches, I would definitely not recommend coming to this resort if you are looking for good beaches to swim in or to explore. This resort had no beaches, instead it had a bay for paddle boarding but that's about it. Another thing I was extremely disappointed on was the amount of closed areas in the hotel. It felt unnecessary and unprofessional. The scenery is very beautiful. Then again, almost any place in Hawaii is extraordinary. This resort specifically had an amazing view of the slope of Kona. It almost felt like I was in California but a much more tropical and pretty version of California. One of the best parts about this hotel is that it's close to the Keauhou Bay, which offers multiple fun activities including the manta ray experience.

We had an amazing stay at the Outrigger in Kona and truly can't say enough good things about it…read more From the moment we arrived, Michael made us feel so welcome. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and got us set up with a helpful map of the resort and even assisted with scheduling our luau dinner. Every single staff member we encountered was just as friendly and welcoming. We upgraded to the Voyager 47 Club, and it was absolutely worth it. Breakfast each morning was amazing, and the evening service (4:30-6:30) included what were essentially full meals, along with unlimited drinks. It was such a great experience. Special shoutout to Zack, Tessa, and the rest of the team--they truly made us feel at home. The room itself was beautiful, with a great view, a comfortable bed, and a spacious shower--everything you'd want in a 5-star stay. Valet parking was also included with the club access, and the valet staff were consistently attentive and helpful. Honestly, we loved it so much that we considered canceling the rest of our trip just to stay longer in Kona. When we return, we will absolutely be staying here again.

It is closer to the volcano and black sand beach but not much else. The biggest issue is the noise level inside. The walls are very thin and you hear nearly everything; not so much talking but footsteps and moving about. Although we might have heard snoring last night. There are also bugs that somehow get in randomly. I noticed more the next day and ants on the counter even though there was no food. Also, there is no air conditioning unless you want to pay an additional fee. Be aware the phone number listed is incorrect. I tried calling several times as we were going to be late checking in due to a tour in Kona. I googled the Sea Mountain, looked at my reservation and every number I tried led to an error message. I finally found a good number and spoke to a nice younger man who advised me what to do upon arrival. I had also emailed and messaged out of desperation without response. Good thing I found that good number. The next day we checked in at the office and spoke to an older woman who wasn't friendly and didn't seem that knowledgeable as to the sights and timing of things. Overall, it was clean and nice but probably wouldn't stay again.

The restaurant located within the hotel is extremely noteworthy and well-known across the whole island, many people simply come here just to have breakfast lunch and or dinner. The pork chops have been written about all over travel sites and I must say I can still remember how delicious they were. A yelp or just like the photo that I took from this hotel, and it reminded me that I never added my review. I will be back on the island in the new year and look forward to coming back. What I will say this is far removed from all of the fancier hotels like Lanikai etc. this place is more residential for people that are looking for longer-term stays, and it's to my knowing that a separate building within the property is for residence or long-term stays. I do understand that some people have an issue with the tenants that live here versus those staying here on vacation. I luckily had no issues whatsoever. I did like meeting the geckos that look like the GEICO gecko during breakfast who were wanting fruit. Cons: there's no AC. Also I was woken up by I think a rooster at 5 am. Roads are severely dark that you cannot differentiate between driving/reversing onto road or out to sea *yikes*. You'll park to the side next to the other 4 cars by the garage (not into it) and quietly find directions on a pin with your name on it. Come quietly inside as you make your way to the room. In addition, she's boiled eggs, cooked turkey bacon, and has sliced up fresh tropical fruits. Don't forget to try her freshly made smoothies made with guava YUMMMM!!!

Check-in with Preston was ordinary and uneventful, but as we walked to our car, Daniel followed us and insisted we come back to get wristbands. While technically true, this quickly turned into a very aggressive sales pitch. He acted "surprised" that we hadn't been told about a supposed offer and claimed that because of the way we booked, we were entitled to either a $100 Amazon gift card or a free cruise. This was not true--we booked through our credit card's travel site (DeltaStays.com). When I asked if this involved a presentation, he admitted it was a 91-minute session but said we could just walk away if not interested. We told him no, but he immediately pressed us with "why not?" questions. I explained that, as someone who works in tax law, I often deal with clients struggling to get out of timeshares, and my wife and I had no interest. Still, he kept pressing, insisting we explain ourselves. When we made it clear he wasn't owed an explanation, he shifted into a strange monologue about psychology and needing to know why we declined. Even after we said, "We don't know what else to say--we're walking away," he persisted, telling us it would really "help him" if we just attended the presentation. Frankly, this behavior was pushy, manipulative, and far below the standard we expected from Wyndham. We had always heard positive things about Wyndham, which is why we booked here, but after this experience, we will not return. We will also be sharing this experience with friends and associates so they can avoid the same treatment. Club Wyndham may profit from its timeshare operations, but salespeople need to learn how to respect customer boundaries and wishes. Guests who book a stay should not be ambushed with aggressive tactics--they should feel welcomed and respected.
