This second floor room comes with a comfy bed, a little daybed, desk and a chair. Enough room to spread out comfortably. The bathroom is updated with a nice powerful shower. After your restful night's sleep, LeAnne (your welcoming host) will have a wonderful breakfast ready for you to start your day. We had yogurt with fruit and granola, warm blueberry muffins and a croissant. And with a communal table, you never know who you'll meet. Getting there is easy. While the entrance is right on Tinker Street, there are four parking spots on the side, or ample street parking on Neher Street (at least in November). Book early and maybe we'll see you there on our next trip.

Our room was decently sized and the air conditioning unit was efficient in keeping us cool during the summer heat. Our pillows varied in sizes and we sunk into the bed, which we didn't really enjoy but that's just our personal preference. If you're a light sleeper like I am, be prepared to wake up quite often when other guests goes in and out, for the walls are quite thin and certain rooms require more force in order to close/lock the door, so the sounds will definitely bleed through. There were also no body wash available in the three shared bathrooms. The shampoo and conditioner were also quite challenging to squeeze out from their tiny bottles. Breakfast was served from 8 to 10:30am, which encompassed a croissant or blue berry muffin, some mixed fruits, a glass of orange juice, and they have readily available coffee K cups and a variety of milk, ranging from whole, half and half, and oat milk. The breakfast was just a simple continental breakfast, where almost all the items were pre-made, which felt a bit underwhelming perhaps because we've been to Bed & Breakfasts where we received at least some simple home cooked breakfasts like eggs or French toasts. Overall, our best experience here was talking with Leanne; we really enjoyed our conversations with her! We're frequent IHG guests and have stayed at several of their brands over the years. Hotel Indigo is usually our favorite, and we'd previously stayed at a Voco in St. Augustine, so we already had high expectations. This property somehow managed to surpass them. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we were impressed. The landscaping is beautiful, with colorful flowers everywhere, and the hotel sits right along the river with a lovely park directly behind it. The setting immediately felt peaceful and inviting. We arrived several hours before the normal check-in time and, because of our IHG status, called to see if an early check-in might be possible. The front desk was incredibly accommodating and had a room ready for us right away, which was a wonderful start to our stay. Although we weren't able to get a river-view room, our room overlooked the trees and was still beautiful. It was spotless, exceptionally spacious, and featured high ceilings that made it feel even larger. The bathroom was equally impressive, with upscale finishes and plenty of space. It was one of those hotel rooms that actually makes you want to spend time relaxing instead of rushing out the door. The location is another huge plus. The surrounding town is small, historic, and very walkable. The riverside park behind the hotel offers kayak and canoe rentals, a fantastic playground for kids, and Adirondack chairs and fire pits that make for a perfect evening by the water. One of my favorite moments of the trip was waking up early to watch the sunrise over the river. The view was absolutely beautiful and well worth getting up for. We also had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, and it ended up being one of the best meals we had during our visit. The coffee was excellent, and I loved sitting in the modern lobby with my morning coffee while looking out over the beautifully landscaped courtyard. It was such a relaxing way to start the day. This is the kind of hotel that makes you want to extend your stay. Between the beautiful property, comfortable rooms, excellent service, and ideal location, it's a place we'd happily return to. We highly recommend it and can't wait for our next visit.

Cool but not really practical at all. I switched rooms the second day and they couldn't have been more accommodating. I really liked that they texted after check in to make sure we were comfortable and responded right away. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the Hudson/Albany area. The downstairs sitting room was so overly cluttered, there was really no place to sit, so one has to go outside and sit on the porch. I'd imagine if the Munsters and the Addams Families had ever gotten together and opened up a B & B this would be the result of their efforts. I don't upstand all these highly rated comments from travelers, it is almost like they don't travel very much or were given some sort of Gratuity for a positive comment or review. The breakfast was marginal at best, resulting in an early lunch down the road in Historic Hyde Park. The best thing about this location is the excellent, Friendly little restaurant and bar within walking distance just up the street to the north of this locale. I don't see how anyone could ever have a tea party here, since the outside area looked folded up and dilapidated, unless it was actually for and with the Mad Hatter.

Porch was a Mish mash of old furniture, old treadmill and a handicapped shower chair. A nice older gentleman in flip flops answered, opened the door to my room and said that's where your staying. He never gave me a key so couldn't even lock the door if I wanted to go out. I get in the room and it's crammed with a king size bed and pulled out single bed and several tables. It smelled old and musty. I checked the sheets and they looked and smelled like they were from the 70's. Went into the bathroom and there was a nasty cleaning rag on the counter, blue glasses that had an inch of dust on them, whoever stayed previously shampoo and bodywash in the shower (so obviously not cleaned). Not full toiletries that were sticky to the touch and toilet paper holder that was broken. I went into the hall to find the gentleman and he could not be located. Walked across the hall to the common room and it was as rundown and nasty as the room. The hallway smelled like pot. At this point, there was no way I was staying there. I contacted the owner, Pat and explained what was going on, at first she didn't believe me then when I sent pics, she apologized and said she would refund the 200.00 in 4 days, on Thursday when she got back. I agreed. Nothing was refunded and contacted her on Friday, she did not respond. I contacted her again on Sunday and she responded with a nasty response accusing me of lying and breaking the toilet paper holder on purpose and put on the Venmo that it was for "unjustified refund". Bottom line, the place is a dump and the owner unprofessional and nasty. Stay as far away as you can.

This was our first B&B experience.....and it was wonderful…read more The building is quaint and clean, filled with beautiful antiques. The B&B has 5 rooms, and only the first night it was full. We stayed in the Ivy room on the second floor and only heard the smallest bits of noise from other people coming in. The room was a touch small, but we had a queen bed and a love seat along with a large closet. The bathroom was spectacular, spacious with a Jacuzzi and lots of bubble bath! Breakfast is served at 8:30 am sharp, which I enjoyed, great initiative to get an early start on the day. We shared one large table with everyone and it created a great way to meet the others occupants and learn about things to do in the area. Yvonne is a great cook and each breakfast was delicious. The building has a nice parlor off the living room with lots of books and a TV. We spent an evening in there watching GOT. There is a wonderful font porch with several chairs. And then in the back a large patio. The B&B is a couple blocks from the main intersection of Rhinebeck on the way up to Red Hook. And lastly Yvonne is very knowledgeable of the area, if your looking for what to do she is a great source of ideas. One one minor critique is I wish the room had been a touch warmer.

Devon Whittaker, the mixologist, was about to begin a stint at Bard College on a Fulbright Scholarship to study some aspect of the neurosciences. Like Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail, he dazzled us with his physical artistry and quenched our thirst for delicious drinks both with and without alcohol. It was a true "umbrella" drinker's (me) paradise. The food, exquisitely prepared by Chef Corwin Cave, was understatedly absolutely sublimely delicious. From the liver pate and house special lobster delight appetizer with oh so freshly baked bread, to the just perfectly prepared lamb shank as well as Wagyu beef and fish dish, our taste buds and nasal receptors were stimulated and satisfied to the max. Not to be left out was the wonderful assortment of deserts worth every calorie taken in. It was so hot that my mouth was burning, and it upset my stomach so badly that I eventually had to get up and leave the restaurant. I think the staff should definitely warn guests when something on the plate is exceptionally spicy. The Amelia is a wonderful, truly unique place. I came here on a self-created writer's retreat, to…read moremake some progress on a stalled book project, and it was the perfect place for me to write, free from distractions. But it would also be a superb choice for a solo or couples' vacation--I'd love to return someday with my spouse--or a corporate or extended-family retreat, if you reserved the entire property. It's important to understand what The Amelia is and isn't (in light of some of the other reviews). It isn't a full-service hotel--there isn't 24/7 staffing--and it isn't a bed and breakfast (so there's no hot breakfast, or even a restaurant). That said, if you need anything, the staff is super-responsive by text, and they do offer daily housekeeping if you want it. Instead, think of The Amelia as a private home, owned by a wealthy friend with impeccable taste, and you have the run of it. And the lack of full-time staff gives you even more privacy (aside from other guests, but when I was there, we didn't bother each other). There are multiple beautiful public rooms on the first floor--perfect for lounging with friends, reading, or working--and a gorgeous area in the back with a 35-foot-long pool, patio, and fire pit. And you get to enjoy it all. My room (#6) was fabulous. It's spacious and at the top of the house, so it feels secluded, and it has what I'm guessing is the best view in the house, overlooking the pool and backyard. The serenity is great for working, reading, or sleeping. There's a giant walk-in closet (which I didn't avail myself of, but it's there). My bed was incredibly comfortable, of what I consider ideal firmness (a pretty firm mattress). There's a desk in the corner that's excellent for working. The windowed bathroom has a huge shower with a rainfall showerhead and great water pressure (weak pressure is a pet peeve of mine). The location can't be beaten. It's on Allen Street, which is pretty and quiet (and has lots of parking--but there are also multiple spots behind the house, on the property itself, and they never got filled up during my stay). At the same time, it's a short walk to Warren Street, the main thoroughfare in Hudson, and all that it has to offer--including restaurants, cafés, galleries, and shops. (Some recommendations: Feast and Floret, for a nice meal; Isaan Thai Star, for a casual meal; Mel the Bakery, for incredible pastries; and Culture Cream, for creative flavors of scrumptious ice cream.) In short, I LOVE The Amelia. I've stayed at some great hotels and resorts over the years, but this is a personal favorite. It overflows with understated luxury, while at the same time abounding in character and charm. I can't wait to return, as either a solo traveler--maybe I'll make this "writing retreat" an annual event--or with my spouse!
