I've stayed in many B & B's all over the World but, this place takes the cake. Interior is cluttered, cold, rumpled, uninviting, dreary, bleak, Gloomy, dark, and creepy. The downstairs sitting room was so overly cluttered, there was really no place to sit, so one has to go outside and sit on the porch. I'd imagine if the Munsters and the Addams Families had ever gotten together and opened up a B & B this would be the result of their efforts. I don't upstand all these highly rated comments from travelers, it is almost like they don't travel very much or were given some sort of Gratuity for a positive comment or review. The breakfast was marginal at best, resulting in an early lunch down the road in Historic Hyde Park. The best thing about this location is the excellent, Friendly little restaurant and bar within walking distance just up the street to the north of this locale. I don't see how anyone could ever have a tea party here, since the outside area looked folded up and dilapidated, unless it was actually for and with the Mad Hatter. read more

First of all, none of the photos that they posted on here are true. Looks absolutely nothing like that now. I get to the hotel and rang the bell 3 times before anyone answered. Porch was a Mish mash of old furniture, old treadmill and a handicapped shower chair. A nice older gentleman in flip flops answered, opened the door to my room and said that's where your staying. He never gave me a key so couldn't even lock the door if I wanted to go out. I get in the room and it's crammed with a king size bed and pulled out single bed and several tables. It smelled old and musty. I checked the sheets and they looked and smelled like they were from the 70's. Went into the bathroom and there was a nasty cleaning rag on the counter, blue glasses that had an inch of dust on them, whoever stayed previously shampoo and bodywash in the shower (so obviously not cleaned). Not full toiletries that were sticky to the touch and toilet paper holder that was broken. I went into the hall to find the gentleman and he could not be located. Walked across the hall to the common room and it was as rundown and nasty as the room. The hallway smelled like pot. At this point, there was no way I was staying there. I contacted the owner, Pat and explained what was going on, at first she didn't believe me then when I sent pics, she apologized and said she would refund the 200.00 in 4 days, on Thursday when she got back. I agreed. Nothing was refunded and contacted her on Friday, she did not respond. I contacted her again on Sunday and she responded with a nasty response accusing me of lying and breaking the toilet paper holder on purpose and put on the Venmo that it was for "unjustified refund". Bottom line, the place is a dump and the owner unprofessional and nasty. Stay as far away as you can. read more

I was trying to take a last-minute trip upstate to the beautiful Hudson Valley, and wanted to stay in the Red Hook area. Everything was already booked, but after looking at the Red Hook Country Inn website, I had to give it a try. I called them up, and Pat was able to find space for me and my husband. Her hospitality saved our weekend. We had a very comfortable stay that night, complemented by warm cookies and coffee, and the next morning her husband Nabil made us (and everyone else) a three-course gourmet breakfast, which we enjoyed over conversation with the other guests and Pat. Definitely recommend staying at the Red Hook Country Inn when you're in the area, or coming up to stay there. read more

As my roommate and I drove up to Red Hook we realized that the reservation we thought we had made was actually scheduled for a month later. The other inn we were intending on staying at was not open (or full... it was hard to understand), and our next call was to the Red Hook Country Inn. Despite the fact is was past 8pm, we were going to arrive after 10pm, and they weren't even officially open for the season (as it was March), the kind family at the Red Hook Country Inn gave us a room and a delicious breakfast the next morning (even kindly catering to our vegetarianism on such short notice). The next day the chef/husband kindly told us about the area and their story (really adorable. Do ask!) and how the quiche we had eaten had been made from eggs that came straight from the chickens in their backyard! Needless to say explicitly, this Inn had charm, great service and owners, and was incredibly flexible given our situation. I'd recommend to anyone! read more

My boyfriend and I just took a weekend getaway trip upstate to the Red Hook/Rhinebeck area. I did a lot of research beforehand, and discovered the darling Red Hook Inn. It was a huge success. Worth noting in particular was our amazing and intimate dinner experience. We selected our dinner entrees the day before our meal, so that Nabil, the chef, could purchase the ingredients that day. Talk about fresh food. When we headed down to dinner, we were delighted to discover that we were the only diners that evening, in a room that seats less than a dozen guests. It was like nothing we'd ever encountered before, a beautiful, but quaint dining room with soft music playing, and romantic candlelight at our table. We were both entranced by the lovely ambiance. Our first course was a Mediterranean salad with fresh chopped vegetables, seasoned with a delicate yet savory blend of herbs. It was more flavorful that most salads have any right to be. Next, we were served an incredible homemade soup of carrot, parsnip & ginger. Leaning more toward a puree, it was healthy and delicious, particularly demonstrating that you don't need heavy cream bases to win over a soup nut like my sweetie. While we dined, we also indulged in warm bread, and our own bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (byob worked out fantastically). For the main course, he had chosen the filet mignon au poivre (well done) and I opted for the salmon fillet. I had a lengthy discussion with the chef the day before about possible sauce and seasoning options for the salmon (since I don't care for pesto, their usual offering). We agreed upon a light, tomato based sauce for the fillet. It arrived with couscous, honeyed carrots and asparagus. While I felt that the sauce turned out a little too thick and heavy for the fish, the salmon itself was tasty, as were the other side dishes. My b.f. happily devoured his steak, cooked just as he requested. Finally delivered to our table, was, in my opinion, one of the best parts of the meal, the dessert. Homemade warm apple pie accompanied by homemade vanilla ice cream. I was in heaven. The apples were moist and the crust was flaky, and the whole dish melted into my mouth much too quickly. Overall it was a wonderful dinner, expressed in both the quality of the food, the attention to details, and the attentive service throughout the meal. As for breakfast the next morning, while most b&b's offer some sort of standard spread for their guests, perhaps muffins, toast, croissants, coffee and the like. We never expected to first be escorted out to the backyard by the chef who pointed out the hens which had produced our forthcoming eggs. Nabil whipped up two savory egg white omelets with a little American cheese and some of the same vegetables and herbs we relished the night before. The result was just as indulgently flavorful as our dinner. The bottom line is, if you're looking for a quaint yet elegant b&b to enjoy a weekend getaway, check out the Red Hook Inn. Besides the delicious meals, we also loved our room (spring for Room 5- it's definitely worth it), as well as the private outdoor hot tub. Pat and Nabil are so attentive and thoughtful. (Pat even lent us her GPS when we visited the nearby Poet's Walk and Millbrook Vineyards!!) I highly recommend this inn. read more

The Red Hook Inn is a gem. The owners, Pat and Nabil, are the most gracious people you will ever meet. They did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. Pat and Nabil can guide you to where you want to go, whether it is for hiking, eating, or shopping. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the Hudson River Valley and its history. My daughter and I arrived after visiting a few area colleges. There was a minor snafu in the reservation (room type) which Pat corrected promptly. After that, everything was A+. As befits a B&B, there was interest shown in our whereabouts, etc. and friendly chit chat. But it was not the usual mindless stuff; Pat and Nabil are amusing and intelligent. We passed on dinner at the inn (though I gather it is excellent) in favor of a fun place in nearby Tivoli (Luna 61; check out my yelp review). Slept like logs. Breakfast was very good, accompanied by Nabil's clever retorts to my annoying questions. My daughter is a vegetarian so Nabil, who cooked for a kosher family, commented that the potato latkes are fried in bacon fat. (I thrive on sarcasm by the way.) My wife and I stayed there for two weekdays in mid-October. The Red Hook Country in is fantastic. Not every B&B (some boil and egg and put a piece of toast in the toaster). Red Hook Country Inn actually makes a fantastic breakfast let along one cooked by a Culinary Institute Professor. Nabil and Pat are super friendly and kind. Nabil's Shakshuka Jerusalem was spot on and his eggs and each breakfast course gets high marks. Let along that seconds were offered so generously. They were also wonderful about making suggestions for the Red Hook/Rhinebeck area (and beyond as well). The home is quaint and the town was quiet. I highly recommend Red Hook Country Inn! read more

What a cute B and B! So much detail was put into every single room I could go back ten times and discover something different. From the chickens in the back to the cute cat I made friends with while enjoying a nice cup of tea while looking at the pond in the back, everything was great! On September 1, 2017 five of us to took our daughters for a special day at Maggie's Royal Tea at the Redhook Inn. There was 12 of us. I had made the reservations six weeks prior to be sure that we were confirmed and when I made to reservations I confirmed that there were two gluten free guests. The experience that was promised was not even close to being delivered. Below are a few examples of what happened during our experience: There was a significant lacking in the service as well as some of the food and follow up to our requests. They were quite short staffed but when I made the reservations Pat (the owner) told me it was no problem at all as she could absolutely accommodate a party this size & accommodate any food allergies. Even though we had made the reservations 6 weeks prior they were not prepared for us to be there. One example is that Pat even told me that they had six people walk in that day prior to our arrival and we're given the regular scones which is why the one of the young ladies who was NOT gluten-free ended up with a gluten-free scone. When asked if she could have a regular scone Pat stated there was no more. They are a service that is in the business of accommodating especially when we had made reservations a month and a half prior but could not accommodate this very simple request. The biggest issue was we paid for a experience which was not delivered. Maggie's Royal Tea had offered a shortcake AND desserts at the end of the Tea & we didn't mind waiting for them but Pat was very miffed at the thought of having to actually put them altogether which by the way did not take very long. Pat mentioned in the ONLY response to me through email more than once about being so accommodating about gluten free guests, which clearly was not true. Again, when I made the reservations she stated that it was absolutely no problem at all but while we were there it certainly was a problem for her to accommodate us. Also, there was a soup served at the start which we were told was NOT gluten free & there was no accommodation for the gluten-free guests until we asked what could be done and at that point Pat said she could give them sorbet and the rest of us would get sorbet at the end of the meal. We did not ask for the sorbet she offered it and then it was not delivered to the rest of our party at the end of the meal. The absolute most disturbing thing at the event was we were told the soup was not gluten free so my girls could not have it. Then I was told in the ONLY email response that the soup was gluten-free except for the strawberry. Three things: The strawberry is IN the soup and if that's the case then it certainly is not gluten-free . The other thing that was quite disturbing in the email is that she stated she did not realize the soup actually was gluten-free, which again if the strawberry sponge in the soup is not gluten-free then the soup is not gluten-free. It seems this business does not know clearly what ingredients are in their food that they are serving to guests -Very Very irresponsible. Thirdly, the gluten-free scones were served on the same tray as the regular scones which if you know anything about food allergies those cannot be mixed. Pat felt that offering us 6 free scones sent through the mail & a discount to come back would make up for this awful experience. We clearly declined because offering food sent through the mail as well as going back there was not an option. Sending food through the mail is a food safety concern & we can not coordinate 12 peoples schedules again to an establishment that was so lacking in service the first time. We would never take the time again to give an establishment that was so irresponsible about our health and rude to us a second chance even if it was free. We took our daughters there for a celebratory end of summer memory & had an awful experience not only due to the above issues but the owner Pat was so curt & took no ownership for the experience we had. I called her 3 times regarding this issue & sent two emails and only received one email back. She then thought it was professional and courteous to take it to Maggie's Royal Tea page on Facebook to post what horrible customers we were for asking for a half refund. I then commented on the post that she placed on her own page regarding this experience (I have copies of all messages) and she then deleted the entire post. She was able to immediately respond back on Facebook but would not return 2 phone calls or any other than 1 email. Originally, we asked for half of our money back which was $180.00 of the $360.00 we spent. Then because she was so rude & because of her continually blaming us and making poor excuses for this awful experience we asked for all of our money refunded. Which of course to this point has not happened and I suspect because of the lack of ethics won't. We would never again subject ourselves to establishment that had so little regard for us as customers. read more

Booked 6 nights stay for October in May, at the end of May I had to cancel my reservations. They still are attempting to charge me $25 "Restocking FEE! What pray tell do they need to restock with 4 and 1/2 months notice!! Very poor business practice. I have stayed at many hotels all around the world and never been charged a restocking fee. Watch out for these people...they whine about others taking advantage of them and look what they are doing. I cannot recommend them at all!! They were most unpleasant to talk to when I attempted to work with them about getting a refund. read more

A lovely Inn with a lovely owner!! We stayed here as a last minute decision, literally calling about a room to accommodate my three children and myself 2 days before arriving and we found the owner to be very accommodating and extremely kind. We arrived much later than we had planned (traffic!!) and were a bit afraid of how the owner might react given the late hour--happily she was very gracious! The room was spacious, clean and super-comfy!! The kids absolutely loved it. We visit family in the area often, but had never stayed overnight before--now we know that will have a get place to stay that's clean and comfortable, with an owner that treats us like family! read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful the Red Hook Inn is. I went with my mom for two nights while visiting Bard and we felt completely at home. Pat, Peggy and Nabil are absolutely wonderful hosts and we really felt like part of the family. My mom and I agreed that the house was so peaceful and cozy. It is also wonderfully located: just steps away from some incredible restaurants.Pat even drove us to the train station so we did not have to call a cab! My husband and I spent one night here this past February. Pat and Chef Nabil were very welcoming, warm and accommodating hosts. Our room, bed and bath were very comfortable and clean. We opted to have dinner in nearby Rhinebeck (with a great recommendation from Nabil), but I'm glad we didn't opt out of breakfast at the Inn. We were served delicious eggs benedict (fresh eggs) and homemade bread, among other breakfast items. I definitely recommend staying at the Inn and hope my husband and I get another chance to visit! read more

We miss our friends at the Red Hook Inn! Pat and Nabil of course but also Peggy! Peggy was taking care of the place while Pat and nail went of a last minute cruise - very smart of them to do so. Also, Peggy baked delicious cookies for us when we were there. Our room was number 6 and it was very comfortable. We felt at home. The place and town is as safe as it gets, and they leave the main door open all night long. The breakfast was excellent and the eggs very fresh!! From their own hens!! Out chamber maid was Stephany and she was great too. We will be there again if we go to that part of this country. read more

My husband and I were on a road trip from our home in Philadelphia, traveling to New Hampshire. We tried to google some places to to stop over in the Hudson Valley on our first night, but to no avail. It was so frustrating that we decided to wing it! A big feat for my husband who always needs a plan. Well, this time it paid off! We drove straight through Rhinebeck and came across the The Red Hook Inn in Red hook! The minute we stepped in the door, we knew it was just perfect. The quaint inn and beautiful room was just what we needed for our first night after 5 hours of driving. The owner, Pat was so accommodating and laid back! She directed us to a fabulous restaurant within walking distance and in the morning served us a delicious omelet, fruit and lofty toast! I discovered Red Hook Inn on Livingsocial while looking for a little getaway with my boyfriend during the holidays. When I called the inn to ask a question, Pat informed me that we could receive the deal through them directly so I went ahead and booked Room 5. When we arrived, Pat welcomed us and showed us to our room. The room was of good size and very comfortable, particularly the bed. The fireplace is gas and quickly heats up the place so we needed to open a window, but that is okay. We explored the area but due to recent snowfall, could not access some of the hikes we wanted to do. The town itself isn't much to speak of but nearby rhinebeck is lovely with shops and restaurants. The drive to historic sites in Hyde park is about 25 minutes but easy. Overall, the stay was wonderful but expensive despite the "deal." We had to pay more than originally anticipated because we did not partake in all the activities included, as they would have been given as credit to the room with receipt instead of included in the quoted price. If you're looking for a place in red hook, this Inn is a great choice. But if you're looking to spend time in the general area I might suggest elsewhere. read more
