You can find Hotel Tonnelle at 2203 Saint Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130. This is at the corner of Saint Charles Ave and Jackson Ave with the Jackson Ave Tram stop directly across the street. I'm unsure about parking as I Ubered from the airport, but found the tram to be very convenient and there were several easy walking restaurants and pubs nearby. I spent a few days in New Orleans recently on business - this is the first time I've been since my NOLA-native friend Kirby Gee left this world, I visited many times while he was still alive but find it somewhat hard to visit with his passing. The new airport is very nice compared to the old, but I hate the transportation situation - why doesn't it have a bridge to the parking deck like the old? But I digress. I decided to book the Hotel Tonnelle as a recommendation of a pair of colleagues who had stayed there last year and enjoyed it. The Hotel Tonnelle is a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott in the historic Garden District, beautiful twisted trees along both sides of the street - quite wonderful. The building is modern, I'm not sure if it was a rebuild from a classic building or a newish concept, if feels the latter to me (that's not a bad thing). The exterior has a porte-cochère extending as an awning so you're covered from the weather as you exist your car, it's a nice touch and adds to the distinctive look of the building. The interior has modern finishes with layered textures and and a mix of luxurious and functional furnishings. It felt quite comfortable. I was placed in a corner room that was quieter than I expected especially compared with my recent stay in Chicago. The king-sized bed was elevated and the furnishings very tasteful. I did miss not having a luggage stand for my bag (not sure if that's standard but I just dealt with it). My only other quibble was the quality of the furniture - in my room it was all very cheaply made with visible blemishes, the dresser drawers were falling apart a bit. It's minor but I thought I'd mention it. The cable selection piping to the TV was pretty awful - after flipping through the channels once I turned it off and pulled from the local wifi (which was spotty in my room, probably due to being in a corner). I was given two breakfast vouchers to use in the small dining area at the lobby bar - I actually sat at the bar both mornings. This is a nice accommodation that you don't typically see at the major hotels, where you basically are forced to pay for everything. The coffee and food were of good quality. Morning 1: Southern Comfort Pancake Plate $18 Buttermilk pancakes, seasonal fruit, sausage (I opted for bacon), whipped butter, and maple syrup - This is a stack of smallish-pancakes. I felt like the mix could have been fresher - the flavors were fine but the cakes a bit flat and a little oily. The fruit included 13 blueberries and one strawberry, sliced, everything covered in powdered sugar. I felt like the fruit was a bit chintzy but with a few cups of coffee it was enough to get me started. Morning 2: Streetcar Breakfast $16 Two eggs any style, breakfast potatoes or biscuit (opted for potatoes), choice of sausage or bacon (I selected bacon again) - this was a bit more filling than the pancake plate on day 1, the potatoes helped. Breakfast service was great - I sat at the bar both times and felt like I was being waited on. I asked about filtered water as I was leaving and was directed to the small gym on the first floor - filled up my water bottle there. Overall I liked the hotel a lot and felt like I was receiving personal service, which was excellent. As mentioned my room felt a bit worn (but I was there right after Mardi Gras so take that with a grain of salt). I've stayed in way worse places, and a handful of better places so the Hotel Tonnelle is very solid. read more

Wandered here after the St. Pat's Day Parade. There was a line at the "to go" area, but we took a seat at the bar. All servers worked on the to go line while we sat there looking like camels who never drink I suppose. At the point of leaving, someone in the line told the next server to take care of us and she did. Odd. It was clean, drinks were reasonable and there were restrooms. read more

My cousin and I stayed at this beautiful hotel this past weekend and had an amazing time. We were in NOLA for Essence fest and because of their comfortable beds and quiet floor we almost didn't make it outside. Walking in and seeing the expansive bathroom--btw I want this in my home--and all of the beautiful accents of green and brown made this room one of the best I've ever stayed in. I would come back here for sure for the next Essence fest or for any other reason to go to NOLA. Also, the staff were amazing. Three words: HELLZ YEAH, Tonnelle! Hotel Tonnelle is brand spanking new to the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio and I'm smitten! Based on the reviews in prior years, it needed a lifeline. It's giving boutique hotel greatness, with eclectic decor, attentive staff, clean room with nice views, and Seventeen (the restaurant and bar) is fantastic! Travis was phenomenal and set us up in the perfect room on the 9th floor. Check in was a breeze and we found street parking with ease. With elite status, the hubs decided to forgo eating in the city, and I'm glad we did as we had a fantastic breakfast with Julio! I recommend the breakfast sandwich and the steak and eggs. We also felt safe and were able to walk to some pretty great local spots based on the location. All in all, Hotel Tonnelle is a great new addition to the Marriott family and I cannot wait to return. This is definitely now in the top 3 of my NOLA picks for great pricing, location, and convenience. Cheers! read more

I have an upcoming reservation at Hotel Tonnelle New Orleans for September 19-22, booked through Expedia. Unfortunately, my first experience trying to work with the hotel has been very disappointing. I called to request an upgrade to the Junior Suite with two queen beds, which is still showing as available online. Instead of assistance, the staff member I spoke with claimed she could not hear me, then hung up on me. When I called back, the same thing happened. Immediately afterward, I contacted Expedia. Their representative confirmed that the Junior Suite with two queen beds was clearly available on their end, and even my daughter saw the same availability online. Expedia then called the hotel on my behalf, but the same staff member told them there were no rooms available, which directly contradicted what Expedia and I both saw. Because I booked through Expedia with a nonrefundable reservation (since I knew we were definitely traveling), I was told that only the hotel could make the upgrade. Expedia was ready to help, but the hotel would not cooperate. I am disappointed with how this was handled, especially since I have not even arrived yet. I am traveling with my two adult daughters, and we need the space that the Junior Suite provides. I am willing to pay the rate difference, but so far the hotel has been unwilling to accommodate a reasonable request. I hope management will respond here, as all emails I found bounced back as undeliverable. I would like this resolved before arrival, and I trust Marriott will uphold its reputation by ensuring a better experience than what I have encountered so far. read more

What a lovely property! We were delighted with our two night stay. It was a welcome break from the French Quarter madness. The Front Desk was outstanding! Jesse and Candy made us feel very welcome. Oliver, at the bar, was great! He made good drinks, was friendly and fast. The bar food is very tasty, especially the flat bread. We were happy with our room. It was stylish and roomy. I really like the large bathroom. There's nothing I didn't enjoy. They earned this 5 star rating. This Girley Gil is in love with this Hidden Gem I am definitely a Marriott Girl and chose to book this Autograph Collection because I wanted something different and I can honestly say the entire experience exceeded my expectations! After checking in on the App I sent a chat with a request for an upgrade. As an Ambassador if there is one available it's granted. This is not guaranteed, so I always appreciate when it's available and honored! The Suite was so amazing! The modern & colorful decor, spacious layout, fireplace, luxurious King-sized bed, view of the city, and the large claw foot tub had me captured in bliss! I cannot rave enough about the super friendly staff! Tamika, the front-desk superstar not only answered my chat messages and call the day before checking in, but was there when I checked in. Her kindness, warm personality, and energetic demeanor made me happy. We chatted and I thanked her for being kind over the phone and in person. She shared details about the hotel and asked me to let her know the next day what my thoughts were about the suite & hotel. The next morning I shared all of the amazing things I loved! She is the type of staff I wish I would always experience at all hotels! I work remotely, so chose to work while having breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. Laura wax my Server and was just as pleasant and inviting as Tamika! She explained the menu and gave me a recommendation to try the Shrimp & Grits. It was so delicious! The serving was generous and seasoned so well. I truly recommend! I ate it before remembering to take a pic!! I dined and worked for a few hours. During this time she came and chatted with me and made sure I had everything I needed. There's more! The General Manager took the time to come yo my table and introduce himself. Sorry, I forgot his name, but not him and how valuable he made me feel. We spoke about the hotel, I shared my sentiments, and he truly listened. Before he left he blessed me with a complimentary glass of Cabernet. This hidden Gem is the only Marriott hotel in New Orleans that is not located downtown. So if you're traveling there and would love a quieter area that's still close to downtown, this is it! It's in the vicinity of many restaurants, streetcar, and other attractions! They seem to have renovated the hotel, everything is new and modern with some eclectic touches. They are understaffed when it comes to the front desk. Anything you wanted you had to go downstairs and get it yourself because they only had one person working the front desk, or so we were told. read more

I've been visiting New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the world, several times a year for many many years and I always stay at the Hotel Indigo. Good sized quiet rooms with nice flooring and furnishings, good closets and nice bathrooms. The room service and food is good and there are stores and restaurants within easy walking distance for anything you might need. I've been here so many times and I've never had a bad exchange or experience with the staff. They are terrific and provide consistently good service. I've had conversations with people in many different jobs at the hotel and they've all been so nice and so helpful. It's why I keep coming back. I usually rent a car at the airport and park on the street near the hotel. I can usually grab a spot on Jackson, between Brainard and St. Charles, and if not, I go across the street and park on Jackson between St. Charles and Prytania Steet. It's pretty easy to get a spot. One of the things I love about NOLA is that, if you'd prefer not driving, the Taxi's come right away and are affordable and you can get an Uber right away as well. Access to everything New Orleans has to offer is easy with the Indigo as a base of operations, and it's so nice and comfortable to return to after a day or night of exploring and fun. read more

Tommy is the BEST bartender... His Old Fashioned is the best I've EVER had! He doesn't use Kool-Aid like Pat O'brians, he uses REAL juice and good rum. A bartender that takes pride in his drinks - calls the bar good "grille" like a great chef. Food is good and inexpensive. HIGHLY recommended!!! read more

My mother and I had booked at another hotel on St Charles for a post operation procedure and the room was disgusting so we had walked down the street to ask about availability. Stayed here last spring and had a good time. We came back this summer and seems like the hotel gets some heavy use so needs to be cosmetically spruced up. The climate control unit made some funny noise every time it shut off and the cover was off when we checked in. No refrigerators or in room movies. The only good thing is that it's near the garden district and has parking which is 30.00 a day to use their lot. Ok now it's August 2022 and we're here again. The website looked like they redecorated their rooms, but I was fooled. First room had a continually running toilet so we changed rooms. Second room had mold in the shower and was just in poor shape overall. Linens seemed clean, but we sprayed them anyway. It's sad they let their property get run down like this and will determine if I use anymore of their properties. The staff here are very nice and extend themselves, but I feel like they're stretched thin and over worked. I like staying in the garden district, but other options are available and I will more than likely choose another. read more

Had a short, weekend stay here and everything was great. The front desk staff were super nice upon check-in and I had already prepaid for my room so it was just a matter of getting my room key. All about the details. This hotel has super nice finishes and unexpected touches that just bring a smile to my face. I know I've stayed in my fair share of cookie-cutter hotels where if you get off on the wrong floor, you can be circling for a few minutes before realizing you are on the wrong one. I feel like this hotel really customizes the details so you have a memorable stay. Once I was in the room, it was my own oasis - I didn't hear anyone walking through the hallway or any of my neighbors! I had a King bed and a large bathroom with a walk in shower. The shower reminded me of a spa with it's pebble tile floor and large shower head. The location in the Garden District was awesome where you could easily catch mass transit to get to different parts of the city. I also was able to take a couple of strolls through the neighborhood and gawk at the mansions. Luckily it was a couple of weeks before Mardi Gras so a lot of folks had already started decorating. I have a feeling that some houses keep their decorations all year, but it's just a fun-festive atmosphere and neighborhood. The hotel also has an order and pay breakfast and bar that I didn't partake in. The lobby is pretty awesome for meeting friends and lounging. Overall my experience at Indigo was a great one. I will look to stay here on my next visit to NOLA. One short weekend, was not enough!!! read more

Although the room was clean, the hallway smelled like someone was cooking food. Both elevators didn't work forcing me to walk to the 5th floor with my luggage. In addition the lobby smells of old still water. Perhaps if you employ a HVAC scent diffuser, this is help eliminate bad odors with pleasant fragrances. read more

The staff at front desk were completely unhelpful and unaccommodating. I had booked the hotel thinking that it would be easy to check in early. The booking service confirmed that there were several rooms available. Instead the front desk person advised me that there where no rooms free at all and not likely for any to be available early - even as I looked at an empty lobby and pretty empty parking lot. Just the tone of the front desk person was off putting, as he rattled off excuses. When I looked at the property I just didn't think it was worth staying there. Even though I had a booking, I just decided it wasn't worth it and booked a nicer hotel down the street. read more

I really liked this Garden District hotel. The neighborhood was fun. The staff were friendly. The room was spacious and generally clean. I loved that the room had laminate flooring instead of carpet. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable. The room's bedding gave a great night's rest. Friendliest person in the whole hotel was the high school kid they had working valet. Great welcome, friendly person and had the car up super quick. I admired his work ethic, and was glad the hotel had him. My view was pretty crappy, but they had decent shades. Only disappointment was being blown off by the front desk staff when I inquired about the availability of a toilet plunger. Each hotel should have about a dozen of them, and any employee should be able to access them at any time. Having them solely with engineering does no good at 2am, and they can really save the hotel a lot in cleaning up a giant plumbing headache if immediately available. Especially when these critical hospitality tools are like $3 at major retailers. read more

First time at Hotel Indigo. Not a good impression. Tried to check in at 3 p.m. Room not ready. Fine. They say 4 p.m. Came back at 10:25 p.m. after fun evening out. Waited 39 minutes at front desk to be helped. The front desk guy was great. Issue was he was answering customer calls, helping people with bag check and a long line. There were two back office people just standing there. I asked if they could please help. They said, "We're not trained." So we just waited. 45 minutes after arriving we got our keys. Got into our room ...and the water did not drain well in the sink. We're tired. Just want to go to bed. I would not recommend staying here. Very poor management support of staffing. Poor customer service execution and attitude. For the high prices they charge my recommendation is you can find a better value somewhere else. read more

What a cute boutique style hotel...then it's over...front desk was friendly enough but not too helpful with anything else...you get nothing at this hotel ...steep parking fee... no complimentary coffee/tea....no water any where except at $2 a bottle...unlike Hilton's that have both... free, and usually free parking too. Then there was our room...not clean and there was an empty plastic GALLON jug kicking around in it...when we left there was no "thank you" "how was everything" "hope to see you again"..just a guy with his head in his phone... I was so excited for my stay in New Orleans. Then I checked in to my room at Hotel Indigo. Yuck! Absolutely disgusting hotel. The benches at the end of our beds are dirty and stained. The complimentary shampoo and conditioner bottles were even empty! They were displayed but empty. Wtf? This hotel looks like it has not been updated in at least 20 years. They are extremely short staffed and it shows. The website said that there was room service and a restaurant that serve dinner at night. When we got there we found that there was no food and no room service. Do not spend your money here. Go somewhere else. read more

We love the IHG brand so we booked a 7 night stay and were so happy with the accommodations we extended another 4 nights! We had a little trouble our first night and Karin did everything she could to make it right and she DID! The rooms and baths are spacious. Hotel views are lovely. Beds are comfortable. And the BEST fried chicken (trust me!) is available across the street at Brother's. Hotel is walking distance to some great spots on Magazine St. (District Donuts, Aidan Gill, Gris-Gris, Lily's Nails) and the Streetcar is right outside the front door. So glad we discovered Hotel Indigo! read more

Looks like a fun unique hotel from the outside but the room was disgusting and not worth the money. There was hair and trash in the shower drain when we arrived. A ball of black hair in the bed. The carpets had white dog hair all over them that stuck to our clothes. The headboards were all torn up. Overall not worth the money at all, and super dirty. read more

One good thing - Sam at front desk. Everything else was very, VERY poor. Celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary was a disappointment here. I just don't get any of the 5-star reviews - trust me this hotel is NOT even 3-star worthy. CONS: Room very dated, with worn furnishings, considerable damage, & moldy shower. Headboard on both beds horribly marred, torn, & damaged. No chaises at end of beds as picture shows. One seat only; a gross desk chair disgustingly damaged - wouldn't sit on it. Only 1 small trash can in bathroom - had to use our own bag for a weeks worth of trash that piled up! Light in hallway did not turn on. But the WORST thing, 6-night stay and housekeeping NEVER cleaned room; we asked THREE times, but they did give towels twice. As a matter of fact, noone ever answered our questions or concerns via message or even when I asked directly. Elevator stinks of weed / skunk pot - SO GROSS. No breakfast or any food at all even though all restaurants around the neighborhood are indeed serving food, drinks, & full service. Babins restaurant in the hotel - the restaurant & bar remains completely closed. Its unnecessary. Yet they partake in the Covid rhetoric, clearly saving money, instead of offering great service. CLEARLY this hotel does not care. PROS: Large room, large walk-in shower (albeit moldy), great city view in room 914. Great location on the street car line. Sam at front desk. In closing do yourself a favor - a block away is a MUCH better hotel; the hotel Ponchatrain. Full service with an amazing full bar, full restaurant, and FULL, kind service throughout. Its just a very small bit more expensive but trust me, MUCH better. Would I stay at Hotel Indigo again or recommend ? No. Too bad. I bet this place rocked when newer & a better management team really cared back in the day, but alas, they simply do not. read more

Located in the Garden District on Saint Charles Avenue, you defiantly don't need to take your car, simply ride the street car into the French Quarter. It comes frequently and is very convenient. Note that valet parking is the only option at 23$ a night. The hotel itself is very pleasant, with great service and feels clean and new. Although the surrounding neighborhood might be a lil run down, the hotel makes you feel safe at night. Overall, the hotel is affordable and very enjoyable, located right outside the french quarter. read more

I used to love this hotel but the last 3 years have not been kind. I recently stayed here again in an "upgraded" suite and found the condition of the room to be much different than my last stays in 2015-2016. The carpet was dirty and the furniture and walls were very worn. I definitely think the hotel rooms could use a renovation. The service was definitely not as friendly as I remember either. Nobody was rude but it definitely took much longer to check-in and I had to wait after the hotel's usual check-in time to be able to gain access to my room. In addition, the valet was always nowhere to be found and I had to wait around for a long time to get my car. read more

Rooms were nice! But unfortunately the staff and the whole experience was not! With the exception of 3 (yes 3) employees the rest were super rude. The party me and my husband were with (wedding) had to ask MULTIPLE times for cleaning services (towels and sheets) and still had no service. And any time we would go and complain they were super rude and not helpful at all. We were told we were verbally abusing the staff when we were voicing our complaints. Sorry but 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

Fantastic hotel in the Garden District. I really enjoyed my stay in Hotel Indigo. The rooms were very affordable, beds comfortable, and the staff (especially Megan at the front desk) was very friendly and helpful. While it seemed a waste to have a meal in New Orleans in a hotel, the breakfast croissant and crepe were both divine, as was the coffee. The gym had the perfect amount of weights and machines for the size of the hotel, and I was also very impressed with the decor of the hotel and the rooms. Better for people not looking to spend their entire time in the French Quarter, as it is closer to Magazine street and uptown, although easily accessible by streetcar, bus, or cab. read more

We checked in on Friday, August 11,2018. I reported my air conditioning wasn't cooling to the front desk. Upon the maintenance tech arrival he stated that I had the heater on which was incorrect. He set the thermostat to 65 and stated the temp would drop in a few hours. This never happened, the room was so uncomfortable the first night I couldn't rest comfortably at all! When I woke up Saturday, morning I went down stairs and reported this issue again to the front desk and they ensured me, that they would report the issue to maintenance and would have it corrected soon. I left the room again and returned a few hours later.. My room was still uncomfortably HOT. I called the front desk again to report the issues and was told someone would be to my room to correct the issue.I continued to report this issue throughout my stay and the matter was never resolved. I requested a refund for my two night stay. I was refunded my hotel rate back, however I paid the taxes and other fee associated with my stay.
