The Roosevelt is one of those grand Southern hotels that feels like stepping back in time. The historic mosaic flooring is stunning, the pool is peaceful, and my upgrade to a luxury suite made the stay even better. The room was enormous, modern, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The only disappointment was the gym being closed during my stay. Thankfully, the New Orleans Athletic Club is only about a 5-7 minute walk away, so getting a workout in wasn't difficult. The Roosevelt New Orleans is a beautiful, historical hotel that fits well with the Waldorf Astoria name. Despite being old, the hotel is very clean and impressive, and the staff works hard to make the stay hospitable. I was also very happy to see them providing 2 bottles of water per night (I'm Diamond for reference so not sure of the criteria), which really helped considering the constant 90+ degree weather (also I'm a kidney donor so dehydration is a huge concern and danger to me when I'm traveling). One funny thing was I didn't get a Do Not Disturb sign, but no matter. After my first night, housekeeping also left some bathrobes and a piece of mint chocolate on each nightstand, which was a cute touch. I was impressed by the hotel's restaurant called the Fountain Lounge. While I didn't see a fountain, I enjoyed eating here daily, whether it was for breakfast, lunch, Chef's Happy Hour, or dinner. While hotel restaurant these days seem to have a bad rep for being both overpriced and boring, the dishes here were both a delight and competitive compared to a lot of quality sit-down restaurants nearby. It was good to see, as Waldorf Astoria was the brand that made eating out fashionable in the first place back before any of us were born. To set expectations, I don't expect perfection in this day and age as long as the basics are done right, and I even ran across some issues. But the staff were very willing to reasonably fix things so I can leave with a good experience, such as the front desk staff that fixed a check-in/credit issue, and a big shout-out to Ari, the F&B Manager who made my day on an unusually unlucky day for me. Next time I return, I do want to try more of their cocktails as they had many interesting ones. Sadly I started getting a fit of allergies, which may be related to the shampoo. They use Aesop products, which are high quality, but personally I find the fragrance strong and the shampoo seem to have some tree oil that makes my nose very unhappy. I may have to remember to bring my own shampoo next time, which is really unfortunately, but is no fault of the hotel. They do have valet parking, but sadly no EV charging. There are also many parking garages nearby for an extended stay if you don't mind carrying all your bags to and from the hotel. It is a full service hotel however, so count on that if you need a hand! The location is good as well, as it sits right on the border of the French Quarter near Canal St, meaning you'll probably be able to get better sleep than being right in it, but it's also right next to public transit and a very short walk away from Bourbon St. I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. They also have an outdoor "rooftop" pool (I believe it was the 4th floor) with a bar. Impressive that this hotel has 3 bars, including the hotel. I didn't see a gym, but they seemed to have spa service if you're big on that. Definitely my hotel of choice when I visit NOLA again! read more

First time at a Waldorf Astoria and it did not disappoint. My wife just turned 40 for her birthday and we celebrated at the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria. It was an amazing stay. The shower with the pressure jets and the overhead shower was something we never experienced before. The room and the service and the attentiveness to every little detail was crazy impressive. They reorganized our tooth brushes and tooth paste. They put a little cup on our counter with the water bottles. The bathrobes inside the closet. Was out of this world amazing. The amenities included the pool, a gym, several restaurants, and beautiful decor throughout the entire hotel. Alexis our concierge and desk agent was superb. Lastly, this was close to everything in the French quarters so it's super convenient. Can't wait to come back again! read more

Classic hotel near the French Quarter with many sites to visit within walking distance. Overall, property was clean and well kept with helpful staff visible and available at all times. Despite the hotel being busy, our room/hallways were relatively quiet with the occasional murmurs coming from next door through the wall. The Fountain Lodge made for a convenient breakfast option in the mornings. Their breakfast buffet catered to all of the dietary restrictions within our party. I had to dock a star due to the inconsistent housekeeping service for our room and others in our party. Nice hotel. I was greeted as I walked in. Check in was quick and polite. Room was clean. The bathroom was very small. The toilet was very close to the shower doors. Made for very awkward navigation. Beautiful views from the Pool level. The Jerk spiced chicken wings from the poolside bar were amazing. The breakfast buffet and breakfast options were awesome. A lot of people spoke on upgrades, I didn't have that experience. They offer turn down service each night but they were very aggressive. Pounded on my door which I was irritated about. I ordered room service online and it was never sent to the kitchen so I went to bed starving one night. My expectations for this hotel experience were not met. I love this hotel, the atmosphere and the service is great. Yes, its not new but it has wonderful character! The beds are comfortable and of good size. The only thing I am not a fan of is the restaurant situation, and even the staff seemed a bit confused. I was trying to find a good spot for lunch and the sent me down the hall but that was closed, the only thing open was the cafe where i sat down and someone served me water and then nothing happened... I finally caught the attention of a guy who then informed me you had to order at the counter. Plastic utensils and a very limited amount of choices. But! I've been to Nola 20 times and this April I am going to my 20th JazzFest. Last year staying in the CBD I strolled around taking pics when I finally ducked into The Roosevelt New Orleans - a Waldorf Astoria Hotel. You don't really "duck" into this grand dame, elegant old world historic hotel. You slowly walk or perhaps saunter taking in all the beauty and luxury of a hotel originally opened in 1893 as "The Hotel Grunewald" and renamed in 1923 after Theodore Roosevelt. The Roosevelt New Orleans is located at 130 Roosevelt Way, just one block from the French Quarter. It is a 504-room landmark that features opulent, classic decor, the renowned Sazerac Bar, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, and a rooftop pool. I did go into the snazzy red hued Sazerac Bar and had a cocktail walking the long lobby walkway with cool marble that makes you forget whatever weather the Quarter is currently dishing out. We stayed at The Roosevelt during Mardi Gras for 3 nights and it was perfect! First of all, the service all around was great! From the front doorman to the front desk personnel to the concierge and the cleaning staff, everyone was very helpful and friendly! Secondly, the hotel itself is beautiful and clean. We appreciated the extra security precautions during Mardi Gras time which kept out drunk people that weren't actually staying in the hotel. They did this by supplying day-specific wrist bands. An older historic hotel so keep that in mind. What was baffling is that the whole front set of elevators were not working and there was no signage to indicate that even though staff were told. The pool area looked nice and it seems there will be cabanas added. We ordered food from the bar, and unfortunately there was a mishap with it but the staff comped the bill right away. There's seems to be a nice breakfast buffet and lounge within the hotel that might be worth exploring. read more

This is the only hotel my husband and I stay at when visiting New Orleans! The rooms and common areas are VERY clean. The staff are extremely kind and accommodating. The in-room dining is speedy and delicious. We are always in town in the winter or early spring so we haven't had the opportunity to enjoy the pool but it looks fantastic! It's a very short walk to two nice theaters, which is usually why we are in town. The turn down service is such a nice touch. We stayed in a spacious One-Bedroom Luxury Suite, which was extremely comfortable and well appointed -- a Nespresso coffee maker, two 55-inch flat-screen TVs, a great shower with multi-nozzle features, and a smart dual minibar/personal fridge that still left room for your own items. Had a wonderful stay at the Roosevelt. The best part of this place is the staff. From the valet folks, to the front desk staff, to the restaurants and room service - everyone was so kind and willing to help no matter what you need! I was awarded a complementary upgrade to a wellness room with superb air filtration. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower and bathroom in general were clean and felt luxury with the soap offerings and layout. I used the gym located in the spa every morning which was luxury! Super large with free weights, lots of cardio machines, and a smith machine and multi functional rack. Once again everything was very clean, they had full size and small towels for use, and cold water/towels. Though I didn't have time to dine, there were several bars, restaurants, and a coffee shop directly inside the hotel which was very convenient. Great hotel, great central location. Overall, this hotel is outstanding. As Diamond members, they upgraded us (and let us know about it days ahead of time before arrival) to a one bedroom king suite with two bathrooms, which was very nice. We stay in Hilton's regularly, and they pretty much never do that. The room came with consistent maid service twice a day, once in the morning and then the turn down service in the evening which came with a full bucket of ice - a lovely and thoughtful touch. Several of the employees were outstanding and went above and beyond, including Monica, the massage therapist in the spa, Tre in the Sazarac Bar and Michelle (the omelette chef) and Hadrian (the host) at the Fountain Lounge. The only negative experience was at check in. I was tired after my long flight and subsequent drive to the hotel. I asked the man who checked us in for two room keys, and in a short-tempered manner he corrected me stating, "I JUST SAID I would give you two room keys!" It was an uncomfortable moment. I wish he had given me grace instead of snapping at me as I was just a little out of it. read more

Amazing staff and historic hotel. Well situated in New Orleans. Staff was fabulous. Bed was very comfortable. That being said it is a historic hotel and an older hotel 132 years old. Therefore the water pressure was variable and hot water took a long time to arrive. Staff constantly tried to work on it. Fabulous lobby area, especially at Christmas time. The Roosevelt is the only place we stay when we're in New Orleans. The location is centralized to the city, and puts us within walking distance of our favorite shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful older hotel, and it has been maintained extremely well. While veryone we have ever interacted with has always been helpful, knowledgeable, and kind, there is one person in particular who stands out above the rest, a bellman named Ernie. Ernie has helped us with our bags and other things on multiple occasions, and has always made us feel at "home". He is not pretentious, but instead makes us feel like The Roosevelt is HIS home, and we are welcome there. As always, this last stay was just amazing, and what put it over the top was Ernie. From valet to the pool, my experience is always fantastic. The guys (people) at valet, the concierge, front desk, to the spa, are so kind and helpful. Working in the service industry, there's a certain expectation of being a 'people person,' which can sometimes come off as fake or just part of the job. But I never feel that way when I step into the Roosevelt. The ladies in the spa, the overall look and feel is just glorious! But today I'm here to talk about the pool! I love love love it! I chose this Waldorf Astoria because I've had very good experiences with Hilton in the past, which made this stay especially disappointing. To be clear, I was not upset about not receiving a complimentary suite upgrade. I understand upgrades are not guaranteed. The issue was the communication. Over multiple conversations, hotel staff encouraged me to keep checking back because there might be more flexibility closer to arrival. After days of follow-up, I was ultimately told that no further complimentary upgrade is available nor was it ever going to be available. A clear no from the start would have been completely fine. What was frustrating was being given repeated reason to believe the answer might change, only to find that it was impossible. That back-and-forth wasted a significant amount of my time. What disappointed me was not the room outcome itself, but the lack of clear and consistent communication. Most guests can accept an answer they do not like if it is direct and honest. What is much harder to accept is being encouraged to keep asking about an option that was never available. I expected better clarity and professionalism from a Waldorf Astoria and from Hilton generally. read more

The Roosevelt will always hold a special place in my heart; it was the first hotel I ever stayed at in New Orleans. After 9 years I returned with my family and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. It's classic and beautiful - and the service is all around a 10/10. It's not the most modern, but that's not why you visit the Roosevelt. The staff was always attentive providing bottled water and extra towels without even having to ask. The pool was our favorite! We snagged a cabana which was the perfect slice of shade for my son to enjoy a nap, while we enjoyed cocktails from the bar. Truly family friendly and also a wonderful location downtown; plenty that you can walk to. For sure, we will be back! read more

I truly can't describe my experience here, but just know it counts as tied for #1 on my list of favorite places to stay in NOLA now. The atmosphere was AMAZING! The long marble hallway upon entering offers beautiful photo opportunities, especially when they have the Christmas lights up! The bars and restaurants are all top notch! The rooms are spacious and high end in every way. As a Hilton Diamond member, I always feel appreciated for my loyalty at this hotel. On my most recent stay, I was given an upgrade to a beautiful suite. The room was so nice everything was clean and made for an enjoyable experience. The rooftop pool is awesome and has great views of the surrounding city. And speaking of the city, this hotel is in a great location with walk ability to all of the amazing sites in New Orleans. It was not pleasant trying to check in and the bar & restaurant was so packed that waiting for a drink took a little longer than usual. I was comparing it to the top-notch hotels. I've stayed in before, and it just didn't live up to all the hype. The mattress was sinking in the center so uncomfortable and the bathrooms are small! I'm a size medium and so it was fine for me but I wouldn't recommend this hotel for plus size since the width of the shower is narrow! Slow water pressure with a waiting time for hot water! Compared to 5 years ago when I was so impressed staying here this place has gone down! Not worth the price at all! I'll stay at The Ritz next time I'm in NOLA read more
