I ran across this place what I first started helping out in the medical clinic in Baumholder. It is a restaurant family-run with a hotel included. Many Americans who start working here stay there until they their own housing. It serves typical German food. It often is busy with many military folks eating here. Some of the dishes are superb, others could be improved. I have eaten lunch here several times and have always enjoyed it. At times to service may be a little slow especially when there are many guests. If I were to continue working here, I'm sure I would become a "Stammgast". read more

Food is delicious and always fresh. You can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu. The salad dressing for the house salad is light and yummy. My favorite dish is the Whisky Peppercream schnitzel. I eat here regularly and love it. read more

Stopped in this wonderful place today for lunch with a friend after her recommendation for their onion soup. We both ordered the soup and a side of garlic bread, both dishes were amazing. Keep in mind the broth of this soup is much lighter than 'normal' soup it's also a lot less salty, overall different but good! Service from the moment we walked in was friendly and comfortable and fairly quick in comparison to most places I've tried to stop for a quick meal. If in the area would definitely come back and recommend to others! The menu had quite a bit of variety and I suspect it's all this good for their overall rating to be high. read more

I've been twice now and not been disappointed at all. First time, I ordered schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it was delicious. Second time, I ordered the cordon bleu and it was also delicious. Everyone is very nice there as well. I like going there very much. read more

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Baumholder! I came here on a Friday evening around 5pm and was glad that I did, because it started to fill up shortly after. I was on the hunt for local German fare after arriving here that week. This is a hotel right outside the Baumholder gate. Service was very friendly and prompt. I ordered and the food took awhile to come out- I shortly realized it's because the kitchen freshly prepares every order and puts time and great care in the presentation! The schnitzel was uh-mazing!!! Seriously, you can taste the quality!! I ordered dessert right after and that was delicious as well. I've been back on several occasions and have never been disappointed...even those who I've invited have loved the food as well, from the soups to the schnitzel! Oh and the best part? It's pet friendly, so you can bring your dog with you inside!! Double win!! read more

Very conveniently located right outside the military base. the staff wasn't very courteous and helpful how to translate the menu. Food was very tasty but it takes a little bit to receive it since is made fresh so be ready to wait a little bit. read more

I have been here a year now and have just now tried this place. I haven't really tried a restaurant since being here that i truly liked, until now. I will definitely be going to Zum Stern more often! I also appreciate that they gave me a heads up on the wait time for food, which was an hour, but was well worth it! read more

One of the best places i have eaten ate in germany. I have lived on and off throughout Germany for ten years. I have enjoyed the venison and the pork cutlets. All wonderfully prepared and tasty mushrooms. Meat is fresh and brought in by the local hunter. Always have the regular folks and meet some new folks when you go. You'll love it! read more

I've only eaten here a couple times and I really don't understand why. Ever single time I go, the food is delicious, the service is spectacular, and I leave almost uncomfortably full. I really enjoy their pesto pasta with prawns, and their salads are delicious. Also, the garlic soup is to die for! Super delicious garlic flavor, and you can ward of vampires for days to come. "the Stern" makes the best salads in the world!!! We used to eat at the Zum Stern's restaurant when we were stationed in Baumholder. They serve traditional German fare and everything is fantastic. Excellent food at arguably the closest restaurant to post. The cordon bleu is by far the best cordon bleu I've ever tasted. The pork is beaten thin and perfectly battered/fried. I dare you to get this dish and not like it. They have very decent lunch specials as well. read more
