They showed me around, answered my questions and did not treat me like I was going to be a blight on their property because I was not 25 years old and in great shape. Truly, they are there to help you not make it a pick up spot. I requested a personal trainer and was lined up with one for the very next day at a time that I picked. I was asked a lot of questions by the trainer as to what I was looking for and she focused on those techniques to help me achieve my goals. It has wipes all over so you can clean the machines after you use them and it never smells bad. The staff is always smiling and seem to be in a good mood when I come in. I'm so happy I kept looking.

My favorite instructors are Ava and Jeannie. Some instructors tell you what to do they instruct you what to do. Also, I find both of their classes challenging. I usually take morning classes and their isn't anyone at the front desk, but when someone is there they are pleasant.

That's 30 soul crushing minutes when you're trying to psych yourself up to do some exercise. I had to let Elmwood go. My needs in a gym are simple, yet for some reason most gyms can't meet them. I need a variety of heavy things that I can pick up and various things to rack them on. That's it. No fancy machines, no step classes, no life coaches. Fit for Life has (more than) a ton of weights. The have plates, dumbbells, kettles and weighted bars. They have benches of all inclines and declines. A squat rack, a bench rack, a curl rack, a rack rack and, just for the hell of it, a completely adjustable rack. In addition to the stupid machines, they also have a nice heavy punching bag, a good selection of medicine balls, a bosu ball, a trampoline and those TRX things. There's rarely anyone in there, which blows my mind since it's only $30 a month. It's kept very clean, it has complimentary towels and the guy who works there goes out of his way to be helpful. It's a great gym. I took a star off because they don't have a water fountain.

In May of 2018 I contacted Lyle explaining my situation, degree of fitness, and goals. He said to…read morecome by whenever worked for me and we would get started. I showed up at 5 am and that's when it all began. I had my bodyscan performed which quickly gave us the results that we needed to get to work. Quickly, Lyle & Haley got back to me setting me up on fitbot with my macros necessary to reach my goals. It is worth noting that all of this has been done remotely. I am presently living in Boston, although I am from New Orleans. Despite the distance, this has worked wonderfully with my coach Haley being responsive and insightful into how to make adjustments to my diet & exercise habits. It really was quite easy, hit the numbers, and the weight falls off. May-August I lost 20lb. Dropping from roughly 190 to about 168/170. My strength has remained the same & working capacity has increased. Now at this phase, Haley is running the numbers for what we need to do a bulk. I would absolutely recommend the gym and their coaching services, and will continue to use them in the near future. I will continue to update this review going forward.
