Also, if you are disabled, there is one bathroom in the pool area that is designed properly but it is frequently used by non disabled people who leave it gross and dirty. The ladies bathroom has a shower with handles but the bench is too big for the shower and is used by patrons to rest their belongings while in the sauna. Also, non disabled patrons use it when regular showers are open (probably because they like to put their gym bag on the bench chair) leaving people with movement issues to either have to wait or risk a fall by using the regular showers.

They do offer basketball and other fitness options. The location is off the beaten track a few miles from the highway on a narrow road. Jeff Rouse is in a housing community. The financing was unique coming from mostly private funds. However, local tax dollars were used and continue to be for its maintenance. It was completed around 2016 timeframe. The surface parking lot offers adequate spaces for large events. The venue offers one of the most spectator friendly views in Virginia for swimming competition. Spectator seating for 800 is on the deck. The pool is a 50 meter movable bulkhead. There is also a 25 yard recreational pool that's used for warm up/cool down during swim meets as necessary. The pool temps were correct and air temps comfortable. Air quality good. The deck space is narrow which is a drawback. Lighting is excellent. A big positive is that pool and decks are immaculately maintained. The staff was great to work with. The pool is frequently used on weekends for USA club meets. So keeping it up takes a lot of effort. I hope to visit again in the near future, but currently do not have on my schedule for 2020. Jeff Rouse is a great facility and the local community of Stafford is lucky to have such a wonderful swimming pool to run competitions.

A friend of mine encouraged me to go to SHoY and I'm so glad she did. The teachers are kind, truly gentle people who guide your practice with encouragement to push to your edge or take a nap in the room - whatever your body asks of you! There are no judgements. You'll find all ages and sizes in the classes. Everyone is in a different season or walk in life. Again, listening to your body is key! One of my favorite quotes you'll often hear in class is "There is no better teacher than your body" and "No one is doing this practice as perfect as you because it is YOUR practice". Basically, eff what your neighbor is doing! You are excelling at what your body is asking of you in your practice! LOVE THIS. Such great encouragement for someone (like me) who is always wondering if I should be as strong/flexible/still (follow me here: am I doing enough?) as my neighbor. If you're scared about hot yoga: Just do it! I'm a Florida girl who moved to Northern Virginia to get away from the heat. I thought hot yoga would be hell but my body CRAVES a hot yoga practice now. I don't feel like I accomplished anything anymore unless I leave the studio soaked. You'll become addicted! Invest in a yoga mat towel, a hand towel, and a yeti/swell water bottle. SHoY also has showers in you need a quick rinse off after class! If you're a complete newbie, here's my recommendations: start with Heated Candlelight Unwind, move on to Hot Sequence or Hot Stability, make your way up to Hot Flow Foundation, and then eventually enjoying Hot Power! You pay for a black membership and you have teens sitting in the massage chairs they haven't paid for. After 2-3pm this place is useless. I've always heard mediocre things about planet fitness. At first I thought this one might be different but it's living up to its terrible reputation. Good riddance.
