I cannot say enough good things about Mindy and the Hound Around gang. I have been using Hound Around for almost 8 years now - since Peanut was a puppy. I adopted my second dog Rio almost 4 year ago. Mindy and her team have supported me through back problems for Peanut (she has even taken her to the vet for emergency acupuncture when I was out of town) and a whole host of stomach issues when I first adopted Rio from the shelter. Hound Around's walkers are always reliable and available if I hit any last minute scheduling issues and need an extra walk. The scheduling, payment, and walk tracking technology is great, and the holiday treats left on the counter is just another example of how Mindy goes the extra mile for all of her clients. She and the team really care about our dogs. Mindy and Trish are the only ones that have ever taken my pups overnight besides my parents. I trust her implicitly and could not be more grateful that Peanut and Rio are loved and exercised while I'm at the office or out of town. read more

They really care for our dogs and we love that they even appreciate and look out for our pups little idiosyncrasies. We have also done "overnights" with Hound Around and our dog had a great time hanging out with Mindy and her dog. Hound Around provides individual walks as well as walks with a couple of compatible dog friends if you desire more socialization for your pooch. I wanted to write this review because I moved back to the city & feel I just lost the best dog walker me and my pups had. We moved to Hoboken over at the Shipyard and not knowing a lot of people, I asked the concierge for a recommendation for a dog walker. I was given someone that apparently the building uses frequently. I met the guy, seemed nice enough and told him I have a very active 8 year old border collie mix who loves walking and exploring. He said sure sure, yea. Let me tell you this guy brought her to the dog park, which is a couple of feet away from the building every day and did NOT walk her anywhere. My last dog walker used to send me a text & take an occasional photo during the walk. When I asked him if he could also, he would send me a one liner. "yea walk went good" As a matter of fact, this dude had the audacity once to send me a pic of her in the dang dog park & wrote "went to dog park, think she likes it here" Seriously WTF?? I decided to rush home during lunch everyday than pay him. Maybe the concierge and the apt were taking a cut. Anyways its not my point on Yelp to judge & I am not gonna write a negative review about that man. Just stating the facts, and letting folks decide. I had heard of Mindy (who runs Hound Around) from a neighbor when I used to live in downtown Hoboken 3 years back and wanted to use her but I was working from home at the time starting up my business so I did not have the need. Now with my work thankfully doing great and being very busy I needed a walker badly. Very difficult to find a walker and someone you can trust. When I met the first walker, I met one of his "clients". She had nice things to say but apparently I found out he hasn't walked her dog regularly and would do so every few months if they needed it emergently. So I gave Mindy a ring. Very different scenario. Very. She is a true dog "walker". YES she WALKS your dog, not brings it to the dog park and sits his ass on the bench. She did text me and told me where they had gone to, what my dog did. Clearly she would go over the time (30 min) based on where they been. (Or maybe I'm a sloth and it takes me a while to roll around town luggin my big ol self around) Just kidding, I run with my dog and know the town well enough to approximate the length of time. And I feel she does genuinely care for and gets attached to the dogs she walks. Which is a great thing, because you want someone who cares about your dog vs some random person doing a "chore" One thing I noticed about the world of dog walking and Hoboken is everyone tries to say how long they been a dog walker and now everyones a dog walker. Really. Who cares. I want the best for my dog and I don't care if someone been walking dogs since 2 days ago. Main thing to me is that they care. And I can tell you she really does. As someone who would give up a kidney and a half for my pup (I had her since she was 3 months old), I want someone who does care about my dog and develops a true working relationship. I'm sure there's plenty of other good dog walkers out there. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents and hopefully anyone else looking will have a positive experience too. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I looked far and wide for a dog walker when we moved to Hoboken 4 years ago. My dog (Gus) is my baby, and I wasn't going to trust him with just anybody! As soon as I met Mindy, I knew we had found the right person. Gus gets a walk with Hound Around 5 days a week, sometimes twice a day, and sometimes on weekends. Hound Around is a truly professional business; all the payments are done online, and they now have an app that shows you where your dog walks, how long they walked, what they did on the walk, etc. The Hound Around crew always shows up on time, they never shortchange you on the duration of the walk, and they're always happy to see Gus. You can tell that all the walkers really love dogs and view this as more than just a job. Mindy is also very accommodating about last minute or off-hours walks, she has never not come through when I've needed her. Gus gets walks from Mindy, Trish, Victoria, Carolyn and Jason, and he loves them all! Sometimes he walks with another dog or two, and Mindy is very good about only pairing Gus with personalities that will work with his old-man temperament. They also never bring dogs to the dog run, which is a real problem with a lot of the dog walkers in Hoboken. When Gus has had an upset stomach in the past and I can't stay home with him, Mindy would come over 3 times a day to check on him and take him for solo walks (so as to not infect the other dogs). She always texts me an update to let me know how he's doing, which is much appreciated. As you can see, I can't recommend Mindy and the Hound Around crew enough, they are truly THE BEST! There are a lot of dog walkers in Hoboken, but Mindy and her crew are the only ones I will trust with my pooch :) read more

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hound Around Dog Walkers. We use their services for our 1 year old shelter rescue, Mavis, and we have had great resultsThe dog-walkers are prompt, professional, great with dogs, and above-all, they are very caring and loving toward our dog, which is very apparent. Usually Mavis is walked by Melissa from Hound Around, Mavis jumps up and runs to Melissa each time she arrives, tail wagging and eager to go on her walk. And sometimes Mavis is walked by Mindy, the president of Hound Around, who Mavis is equally fond of. The way both women relate to our dog makes my wife and me feel extremely comfortable with the walks -- we trust Mindy and Melissa 100%, and know that they will give Mavis a great walk and take excellent care of her on the walks. A few examples of why we strongly recommend Hound Around: 1) A couple of times after a minor surgery, Mavis needed to be carried up and down the stairs of our building. I offered to carry her, but Melissa cheerfully carried Mavis herself, which was above-and-beyond, and we very much appreciated it. 2) Mindy recently started using an automated tracking system for her company, which automatically sends us emails as soon as Mavis's walks start, and as soon as they complete. This is extremely valuable to us, because it tells us just when she had her walk, so we don't have to and helps us plan when we'll walk her later that day. 3) The other day, as a special treat for Halloween, Mindy actually baked special dog treats! Mavis absolutely loved liked this treat more than most store-bought treats she's had. And we thought it was a great gesture, which in itself shows how much Mindy loves the dogs her company walks. 4) Sometimes Hound Around walks Mavis on a group walk with a couple of other dogs, and this has been great for Mavis. Mindy was very thoughtful and careful about asking our permission first, before taking Mavis on any group walks. And she also made sure to match Mavis up on her walks with dogs she'd be compatible with. The group walks have turned out to be Mavis's favorite walks, and she has made great friends with the dogs she now regularly walks with. The extra socialization and training from the group walks have turned out to be an added plus to our using Hound Around. We're very glad to have found Mindy and Melissa for Mavis. read more

We've have been using Hound Around since December. Our puppy, Gunnar, gets walked by Trish and sometimes Mindy. We can always count on them to be on-time and accommodate any last minute schedule changes/requests and most importantly, Gunnar definitely enjoys their company. Gunnar has also stayed with Mindy and her pooch for a Pawjama Party, he was so excited the minute he stepped in the door that he didn't even blink and eye when we left him. AND he even learned some lessons from her pooch about sleeping in (our pup is only 7 mos.). We can't thank Lebow and Mindy enough for the extra hours of sleep- especially on the weekends! The Hound Around gang is; 100 percent trustworthy, reliable, efficient, responsible, responsive, proactive, but more importantly, Mindy and her team are caring, good people who love dogs. I can't say enough good things about Hound Around! We have used Hound Around for the last year and a half for our 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier (Mimi) and they have been wonderful. My work schedule changes weekly and Mindy has been extremely understanding when we have needed last minute walks. The dog walkers sign in and out electronically when they walk Mimi so we get an update on her walks sent to our email which is such a great perk because I've dealt with other companies in NYC where I doubted that they even came to walk the dog. We have also used Mindy for pet sitting and she has been great! Its a huge relief to be able to go away on vacation and know Mimi is well taken care of. Mimi was recently diagnosed with Kidney Disease and Hound Around has gone the extra step to help out with her medications, additional food and clean up. If she isn't feeling up to a 30 minute walk they will take her around the block and spend the rest of the time playing with her in the apartment.
