I am the owner of a beautiful rescue from Puerto Rico. I gave tails on trails the benefit of the doubt regarding many issues while my dog was in their care. Bottom line is - Judy Nunez and her team are not equipped to work with dogs who require a little extra care, compassion and personalized attention due to fear (many rescues, dogs who have been abused, etc.). A walker admitted in a note that she lifted the back of the crate and dumped him out of it. One day I came home to a ripped up plastic solo cup, left in the crate for my then-4-month-old puppy to ingest. These are the biggest issues of many. Judy Nunez (the owner) is unreachable and leaves her poor office assistants, who have no dog experience, to deal with these issues (their way of dealing with these issues is to give the dog CBD oil, by the way). Judy Nunez sent me an email on 9/27/18 that she will address our allegations in a "final report, for our review." It is 12/22/18, and I still haven't gotten the report. Where is it Judy? read more

Tails and Trails is dangerously unqualified to be walking dogs. They couldn't maintain a consistent walker for our dog and he had eight different walkers in 2 months, then our dog became fearful due to the walker inconsistency and lack of any attempt to bond with him (we could see them on their phones the whole time on our doggy camera). Then they claimed they would "adjust the approach" to bond with him but eventually gave up. 8 months later, they felt the need to report this to our building's management office. Reporting an issue that they caused, that occurred while they were hired for service they were inept at providing, that happened EIGHT MONTHS AGO. UPDATE: They can't even keep track of the owners of the dog they walk. I met Judy and emailed her multiple times, but she doesn't think I'm my dog's owner. read more

I am a helicopter mom. Literally, i am prob most of the reason my dog has a semi bit of anxiety (semi, is an understatment) Judy and her team have been an utter godsend. We heard about their new doggie daycamp, and honestly it has been a god send. (I know i already said that) but they pick up my dog AND drop him off, and I can literally do things i need to do at work all day and come home to a dog who is snoring. Tails on Trails for the win! Our 3 year old dog, Maisy was walked by various caretakers from TOT for the past two years and we couldn't have been more comfortable. Maisy has terrible separation anxiety and the team showered her with love and care. The staff is super responsive and took the extra step to make sure that Maisy was out of trouble. After each visit, we'd get thorough reports of the visit along with pictures of the cat (which were very appreciated). I have never felt compelled to write a negative Yelp review. That ends today based on my experience with Tails on Trails. Simply put, they are one of the most unprofessional organizations I have ever dealt with. Let's get the one positive factor out of the way. The only reason to use Tails on Trails is the fact that they use "Pet Check Technology." It's a fun program that will email you 3 photos of your dog from the walk, the exact times your dog was picked up and dropped off, and a little note about how your dog's walk went. Who doesn't like to receive photos of their dog in the middle of the day! This technology is not unique to Tails on Trails and I assume Judy pays a monthly or yearly fee to utilize the technology. The reasons not to use Tails on Trails? Everything else. I like the reliability of having a single professional dog walker that my dog knows and trusts. While Judy may assure you that the same walker will come every day, this is simply not true. The company has become too large: they now employ no less 13 "caregivers" and 5 office staff/managers. Depending on who calls out sick that day or who quits the week before (it's a never-ending revolving door of caregivers with this company) any one of these 18 people can show up in your home. Yes, even the "Operations Managers" are sometimes tasked to come to your home and walk your dog. Judy and her team will not notify you if they switch your walker; you will simply get an email after the fact showing that a complete stranger has come into your home and cared for your precious pet. So what's the problem with this you say? Well if your dog was like mine, they can sometimes be afraid of new people when you aren't there to reassure them. This was explained to Judy several times during our tenure with her company. Despite this, Judy continually switched up the walkers to the point that my dog became uncomfortable and growled at some of them. Guess what? My dog didn't receive a walk that day. To top it off, I didn't get so much as a phone call from Judy after these incidents, just a short email from one of her unqualified "managers" alerting me to the fact that my dog wasn't walked that day. Reaching Judy nowadays is like trying to reach the Pope. Indeed, Judy's sole focus is on signing up new customers. You will not deal with Judy after you sign up; you will be passed off to one of her underlings. While it's clear that Judy is qualified, it's also clear that her staff is completely unqualified and utterly useless without her. Take a look at their website, it's filled with Zumba instructors, "animal lovers", cartoonists, wannabe cops, and Brandon the Vegan! Sorry guys, but being an animal lover or a vegan doesn't automatically qualify you to care for my dog. I'd rather have someone who eats meat 3 times a day with some experience than Brandon whose sole qualification appears to be owning a rescue cat named Puffs. Besides Judy, only Sarah has prior legitimate experience, working as a vet tech in Kenilworth. The simple fact is that Tails on Trails is a bait and switch operation. You think you're getting the kindness, professionalism, and experience of Judy Nunez, but what you're actually getting is a ragtag group of hippies who need an easy gig. This was once a reputable company, but Judy's never-ending quest for money and growth has led her company down a perilous path. Avoid Tails and Trails and go with a smaller, reputable company or single dog walker that will make you and your dog feel like family. Every time Judy's business gets a legitimate negative review, her first inclination is to allege that the person leaving the review was never her client. It's pathetic. Used them for cat sitting while I am on vacation. Having lived in a few different cities with my cats, these guys are the best cat sitters I have met! They provide very clear instructions and explanations, trying to make everything easiest for you. The pet track app is easy to use and a great tool to communicate. They even arranged to pick up keys at my place and saved me a lot of time. The price is very reasonable and affordable. After each of the two visits, they sent me a very detailed message about what they have done and what the kitties were like while they were visiting. Tails on Trails is fantastic! We've been using them now for about 18 months. Judy has a great group of walkers, and a strong team backing them up. Jocelyn on the operations side has an amazing sense of customer service. Judy has high standards for her walkers, and all the ones we've had (probably ~5 or so over the past year) have had good dog sense, and have been great with our dogs that have special needs (one is highly socially anxious, the other struggles to walk on certain surfaces). They have a pool of walkers, which makes them flexible in terms of accommodating our schedules, and are really good about any changes to walks (with 24 hours notice). They use modern day tech to give doggie parents visibility into the daily walks, including GPS, and they provide summaries of each walk. They also maintain an Instagram account, so you can see your dog and other neighborhood dogs as well. read more

I've been using Tails On Trails' services for about 2 years now and have never had an issue. My dog seems to have formed a bond with his walkers and they have all been friendly, patient with his sometimes unpredictable temperament, and most of all reliable! I truly appreciate that the walkers have been mostly consistent/long-term, since I worry about a constant stream of strangers interacting with him and entering my home. Furthermore, I look forward to the humorous reports and updates they provide with every walk via the Pet Check app. It's great! The absolute BEST cat sitters ever! We've been loyal catstumers (we have 3 lil' lions) for over a year - and we've been through a lot together. TOT never even flinched when my cats required insulin shots, or ear drops, or special food (see, a lot). They were always flexible and reliable. I'm not sure if it was Tails on Trails fault or if maybe it would have developed regardless, but after being walked by this company and passed around to several of their walkers, my dog became fear aggressive and starting biting. When they first reported bites, we were shocked, as it was very uncharacteristic of our dog who runs up to strangers and plops right on their laps with kisses. Whether it was their fault or not that he became fearful, once it started, Tails on Trails acted reassuring and as though they knew how to handle it, but it actually only worsened with their walkers ignoring several signals which led to bites and reinforcing his habit. We were naive and believed they had it under control, which we now realize was far from the truth. Aside from this, I also saw on my dog cam some walkers sitting on their phone the whole appointment rather than trying to bond with my fearful pup and claiming they couldn't get him out cause he was too fearful. Now we are having to pay the big bucks, working with trainers to try to reverse this issue. I hate to leave bad reviews for "nice" people, but these guys were pretty incompetent in our particular situation. If you have a rescue dog or one that is at all fearful, I would go another route with your walking service. Update: respectfully, much of the information in the below reply is false. 1. Our home situation never changed? 2. Never did the team say "although we're not trainers". They acted as though they knew what they were doing but handled him in the wrong manner 3. A trainer was never suggested until service was terminated. However, we did work with a trainer from the very first bite 4. There was no "main walker". Walkers left their names in reports and there were about 8 before a bite ever occurred. 5. Being on their phones was not them keeping it cool to make him comfortable. It was them in a different part of our home altogether, back to him, 100% ignoring him. A complete failure to bond. 6. I am not upset with your final decision - it wasn't working for either party. I simply want to get the truth out so others pups are not harmed in this way. Sorry if you don't like the review, but maybe you should take it to heart and consider an adjustment in your approach. I do appreciate the kindness to continue trying with Beasley, however the truth is I wish your team was honest that you didn't know how to handle the situation rather than attempting with no understanding of how to handle a fearful dog and doing more harm that good. read more
