I visited twice while in Marseille, finding it after getting completely turned around my first day (silly East-West oriented maps!). The tiny, pink, and adorable one-room spot beconed, especially when I saw "cupcake" in the name! The coffee was good - that strong, espresso-style cafe of France, and the cupcakes were quite good: the cake was a bit dense and a bit dry, but inside the cupcake was thenmost amazing and glorious dollop of chocolate ganash, a fabulous hidden surprise! The staff were incredible as well; English is not as common here as in Paris, but kind, asking to the best of their abilities where I was from, how my trip was, what was next.

Laurine is the chef. The outside of the restaurant is inconspicuous; in fact, we walked right past it. But you walk down a corridor, through a small courtyard, and then into the small restaurant. But it's the garden out back that is beautiful. That's where we sat. My wife had Le Provençale, a tartine (toast) with bush cheese, red fruits jam, dried figs, dried tomatoes, and parma ham (like prosciutto). Delicious! I chose the plat du jour based on the owner's recommendation. Not sure what it's called but it was a tartine with tuna tartare & passion fruit, chutney with mango, pineapple, & red pepper, slices of avocado, and orange zest with pink berries. I don't know how they do it. Amazing flavor combinations. Glad we found this place with plenty of time to go back another time or two. Highly recommend!

They ask you not to work there at certain hours (very fair) but it is set up for you to do so! Staff is all multi lingual in French and English, or at least enough to get by, and they even have an English language menu. Don't worry, the food is high quality French and the coffee is superb. You of course get the typical for France espresso, but you can also get French Press, drip, and other styles of coffee. Overall, just a pleasure to visit and enjoy

I have found the service kind, however, one specific time I was told to sit anywhere when I was there for brunch with a group of three. We sat down and had ordered when someone different came over and told us the table was reserved. We were then moved to a table clearly made for only two people. There was no signage on the table that it was reserved and the server didn't seem particularly happy we hadn't known this. Other than this time, the service has always been kind and I always enjoy the food.

The owner was delightful and readily offered menu items suited for vegetarians. The salads were a good size and made with very fresh ingredients, with a large amount of toasted chèvre on toasts. The vegetarian burger was both adult- and kid-friendly. Everything was delicious. Great value, too: the bill for three of us was only about 30 euros, including fresh mandarins for dessert. There are crêpes too (if you still have room!) There are also a few tables outside for extra capacity. The only downside is that it's lunch only, Monday-Saturday 11:30-3 (I think - double-check the hours).

It was a mixture of leafy greens, other vegetables, sunflower seeds, thick bacon pieces lightly drizzled with a lovely dijon type dressing and served in a pastry type bowl. The salad was accompanied by a weird meat spread on a piece of bread (which tasted great if you can handle eating a meat spread thing), as well as delicious goat cheese melted on bread with honey poured over. My main course was a ravioli served with sun dried tomatoes, eggplant, some cheese, pesto and some tomato ragu type sauce. I loved that the pasta was not just covered in sauce as it is in America.
